I prefer a "Gate" to be on an accessory rather than on a main product line 😅

#CaseGate

I guess I'll go against the grain here, I have a FineWoven blue case for my 15 Pro Max and don't mind it at all - feels nice, especially the sides, and no alignment issues. I prefer the look of leather on the back instead of FineWoven but not a huge deal. Guess it'll depend on how it stains.
It does feel nice. I had a leather wallet from my last phone and the texture mix is something I particularly like. :)

When I first heard about FineWoven, I imagined it to have the feel and look of car seatbelts: Synthetic but very smooth and ultra durable.

Not that I claim that concept to be feasible. I have no clue.

But what we've seen so far with FineWoven is just embarrassing:

Those are the cutouts I expect on the much cheaper knockoffs you can get on Wish.com and amazon, not from Apple for $59.

Of course they show damage on those cases -- they have people running their fingernails up and down them. That is not normal usage. Perhaps my opinion is unpopular, but I have had the case since Friday and haven't had any issues, and my cutout is spot on. This is the second article talking about how many people hate the cases, with no mention of positive feedback.
I've mentioned it elsewhere but I was totally expecting the FineWove cases to be a dud when there were so many reports of them being terrible.

I went to the Apple Store on Saturday and saw the cases and wallets in person. They look fine! They feel fine! They don't look cheap. *shrug*

I have a hard time imagining this will be a worthwhile move for them in the end, but I'm sure they've done more homework than me. Either way, they'll be losing many customers who loved Apple's leather products (including me).

yall trippin. I love my Fine Woven. Soft to touch with a grip. Not on some fan boy ish, I don’t see the issue (maybe the price …. maybe ) .

So legitimate question … what type of material would you have liked to have seen (minus obviously leather) ????

I have never run my fingernail on a case, but now, it’s become the thing cool dudes do because they read about it ”on the internet.” If the case truly doesn’t wear well over several months, fine, but at this point, it seems like such a lot about nothing. It’s kind of disturbing it gets so much digital ink.

Like you, I‘ve not had issues but if I do, I’ll criticize Apple. Once all this fury blows over, these cases will probably become the best cases ever. A simple twist of fate.

I returned my case and wallet this weekend to the local Apple Store. Wasn't a fan of the material, and the wallet didn't secure three cards like the leather wallet does.

Seems like the biggest issue here is Apple tried to push this as a premium product for a premium price, and it very much isn’t, neither in build quality or finish. If Apple had pushed its eco-friendly aspects but priced it at the same if not lower price of the silicon cases I imagine we’d be seeing very little blowback other than folks who preferred the leather premium options.
But as they say, Apple gonna Apple.
