When I heard about this new case for the 15 lineup. Just by the look of it. It didn't look good to me even though it was a photo. Based on what I've read online and have heard, there are way better iPhone cases than these FineWoven for a fraction of the price or half a price depending on where the case is purchased. I've always felt like Apple iPhone cases way overpriced to begin with. Never bought any of their cases for my iPhone since the 5S.

I actually enjoy the look and feel of the case and I expected the back to get dinged up and scratched. It doesn’t warrant the price point, but when is the last time Apple has offered a fairly priced accessory?

However, I’ve used the case since Friday and the case no longer feels snug around the phone. There’s a lot of soft spots on the side of edges that will likely increase and/ir expand over time, and I assume it’s due to the phone’s warmth in direct light, charging, normal use, etc.

Also, I have a feeling that we’ll see FineWoven laptop sleeves and iPad covers down the line. 😩

I'm wondering why they just didn't go with vegan leather as the replacement for the leather case. Many auto manufacturers use this and in some instances, the vegan leather is more durable than the real thing (speaking from experience, my 2011 car has synthetic leather and it still looks great).

This must be the biggest piece of hot garbage that Apple has yet released. I would be really interested in knowing what the thought process was here.

The FineWoven accessories do suck, but they're not the biggest piece of hot garbage Apple has released. That title belongs to the Butterfly Era Macbook Pros. Those laptops were straight up unusable and set the Mac back five years. Thermal throttled from minor use, jack for ports, had NO ESCAPE KEY, and the butterfly keyboard would always break from just a little dust rendering the entire computer unusable. All because Jony Ive wanted it as thin as possible

Hell there's lots of Ls Apple made when you think about it. Lest we all forget about the Newton

That and they priced it like the leather cases but it doesn't feel like high quality.
The greed is the real problem. If its carbon footprint is actually less than it’s cheaper to make. So why charge the same? Green greed.

I hear this claim a lot but it's not true. This claim has been tested numerous times on footwear videos on YouTube. Real leather continues to be one of the best materials there is, especially for seating and steering wheels.

I wonder if Apple will go back to leather or if they'll just try and find a different kind of leather alternative material for their "premium" cases? 🤔

As someone who is actually using a Finewoven case: it feels good, looks good, and I've had no issues. But that's only in a few days of use. If in a week there's an issue, I'll return it.

For now, it makes the phone lighter and better to hold (better than no case? No, but I can't go caseless), and I used leather cases for many years. I did like the changes in patina.

We'll see.

leather cases are the new incandescent light bulbs

actually I tried to fingernail scratch one of the display FW cases at the store with no luck.

This is just a big shoulder shrug for me. I’ve logged 4 whole days with mine, and I really like it and the wallet. The fabric makes the wallet really stick well, the old leather one was super easy to remove if you just rotated the bottom portion - the friction of the fabric sides against each other makes that difficult. No visible wear, not that I’d expect any at this stage. Easier to grip than the leather and clear ones I previously had for my 13. If it ends up wearing quickly, I’ll be disappointed.

I think people love to jump on any bitch fests rather than just make a different buying decision in the first place. Ok, you don't like the case for look, feel, or durability reasons... then buy something else and move on.

Yes, Apple missed the mark with marketing it as a durable replacement for leather, but people act like everything every business does should be a runaway slam dunk without issue.

As posted earlier bought one when picking up my phone, reasonably happy with it although £60 is pretty hefty for it.
Bought a Torro one on the strength of the other thread how bad it was.
Torro one arrived today felt really good compared to the fine woven but the MagSafe not working, awaiting an update from them, 1 step forward and all that.
