I don't understand the mini fetishism; they appear on every single thread. Only 3 people on the internet bought one, and Apple has since halted production. If there was any significant sales, Tim Apple would definitely continue it.

If the specifications are accurate, this would be a far better purchase compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, at just 30% of the price.
The sales were significant. But not for Apple. Any other company would've been happy. But not Apple.

The SE4 will be a great phone for a lot of people. Great for them, I'm happy for them. But not for people like me who prefers smaller phones. That's what you don't get: not everybody wants to put a 6.1-inch (up to 6.9-inch!) phone in their pocket. I barely feel the iPhone SE2 in my pocket.

"Yeah but the bang for your buck is great!" ... Don't care.
"Yeah but you'll have Face ID instead of a physical button" ... Dont' care.
"I'll buy you one and I'll give it to you for FREE".... Don't care.
"I'll give the phone + 1000$" ... DON'T CARE.... wait... I'll take the phone and resell it. Thank you.

I have the 2nd gen , 2020, SE and could be interested in this. The screen size increase from 4.7 to 6.1 is significant but that is on the diagonal and if there is no home button the physical dimensions of the phone may only increase by a few mm .

I really doubt it will have the action button. They will reuse the housing from base iPhone 14 models to cut costs. There is absolutely no need for the action button anyway as it’s a gimmick that nobody needs and they need some way to differentiate from base iPhone 16 models other than cameras and Dynamic Island.
Think the SE will be a good value for the money. Enough tech but not too much.

As far as the action button you are not speaking for me. I’m glad apple thinks different and tries out different innovations.

They must comply with the European Union's USB Type-C regulations.
Failure to do so would prevent them from selling any "low-cost" iPhone from January 2025 until the release of the SE4.

Congratulations! You now hold the record for the earliest hijacking of a MacRumors thread by a person who says they want a Mini. And, oh yes… you’re still not getting a Mini.

EDIT: I love to see the down votes on posts like this. What is it that you disagree with? The thread was hijacked with the first post. Or fact that you’re still not getting a Mini? Wanna put money on that? 😉

5.4 - 5.8" i'd be happy with + 3.8/3.9k mah battery and A17
They could've very well used iPhone X's screen and 5.8" form factor. Mini lovers would have found solace in that form factor. But as iPhone X is out of production long ago, there's no chance at all.

I have my doubts that Apple will risk cannibalizing the recently launched iPhone16 with a much more economically attractive phone just for Apple Intelligence reasons. I'd bet it will come with an A16 Bionic, rather than the brand new A18, and potentially the 8GB RAM, although I think we'll be stuck with 6GB. Still the SE4 would be a very good machine.
I also expect 64 GB of storage. But I suspect Apple wants all of its devices going forward to work with AI. So 8GB of RAM.

I bought it. I love it. I still use it today. I will never upgrade My 12 mini until and unless it completely stops working. This new SE is way too big and will be very heavy as a result. My main issue isn’t the screen size of these phones… it’s the weight. They’re like carrying around a brick in your pocket.
Maybe they could include a free 1 year gym membership with an iPhone 16.

If sales were significant Apple would still sell it, in the Apple did not sell enought to justfly tooling a factory to make it.

I own all SE models and the reason being I love using touch ID. I love how I can unlock the phone while pulling it out of your pocket. So I am really sad that I won't be owning the SE4
Why do you need to unlock phone while pulling it out of your pocket when it unlocks when you look at it...

they didn't market it properly.

cant tell you how many people have noticed my naked 13 mini and asked me what phone it is, when i say mini, they say theyve never heard of it.

the people who always wanted to stay at iphone 5s/se form factor are still customers, just relegated to a larger phone forced on them, or mini 12/13 owners. i wont jump ship but i wont not buy a mini. if its not an iphone itll be ipad mini

Because from the 1000+ phones on the market not a single one serves our needs?
I don't understand people that crap on other people's needs TBH. Why would you want to buy your house when the majority of people rent? This kind of nonsonse.

When there was still a Sony Xperia Compact my two best friends, me and my neighbour all had the compact. And it was never a topic, we all just preferred usability.
So your "three people on the internet" theory is already disproven by the 4 people (me incl) in my nearest vicinity that do not have a small phone option anymore.
Expect Apple stopped selling them, that disproves there is a market for them.

They noticed bcause it is different, that doens't mean they want to own it. The market is what drove phones to be bigger Apple held out for a few years before doing the "big" phones.

For all the people that have eye problems with OLED I wish they would offer one model with LCD.

The only problem I see with this is that Apple still sells the 14.

For better segmentation, Apple should either drop the 14 entirely, replacing it with an SE branded model, or re-use the Mini form factor with minimal changes (single camera, cut UWB, swap to USB-C) as a new SE.

But who knows, Tim might surprise us with another model on the 8 design.

This is why I think Apple will discontinue the iPhone 14 earlier than normal. It will be replaced by the iPhone SE 4.
