Not everyone cares about going above 60hz.
Maybe its just me, but when I use a friend's iPhone 15 I don't notice the downgraded refresh rate unless I'm actively trying to look for it.
iPhone 15 has a 60hz screen. Only Pro has 120hz

Its not about if you notice it or not, at this price tag, what are the reasons to not have it ?
Apple has never been the company that adds features for the sake of saying it has the feature.
They tend to take the "start with why" philosophy where they focus on benefits first (i.e. the iPod marketing focusing on "5 thousand songs in your pocket" rather than "10GB capacity").
If your average iPhone 16 customer isn't going to notice an improve refresh rate, then that isn't where you invest on improving the product.

Wow, I didn't expect that new SE could be this good. Currently I have iPhone 12 and when I eventually move on, this new SE4 could be my new phone. Maybe I even retire 12 before I planned to doing so if everything about the new SE is true.

Will the 2025 iPhone SE necessarily have Face ID? Maybe iPad-style Touch ID (on a side button) is an option?

If it had a power button fingerprint sensor then I'd be very tempted to return to iOS from Android. Android is pretty good, but I still get complaints from Apple-using family members.

Of course, it will have only Face ID.

If the single camera is even iPhone 15 camera with 2x optical zoom, I seriously dont see why anyone would get 14 or 15.

It might as well be an iPhone 16, with all the easily removable battery etc. But with Apple Modem and a notch, no camera control.

The completely different design and smaller screen size was a huge differentiator. Nobody was going to confuse the original iPhone SE for an iPhone 6s.

Which is why I wrote, "other than the smaller size." The design was otherwise not significantly different. Besides those things, the "features and performance" were quite similar i.e., same RAM, same chip, same 4G LTE, same Touch ID, single 12MP cameras, etc.

With those specs…

Do they intend to discontinue the iPhone 14?

Probably. It may end up similar to what has happened in the past. When the original iPhone SE launched in 2016, the iPhone 5S on which it was largely based was discontinued. When the second generation iPhone SE launched in 2020, the iPhone 8 on which it was largely based was discontinued.

Not sure what you get out of this. Other people have other opinions. Often they don't align with your own.
Everyone has a right to thier opinion, but at the end of the day Apple stop selling it and there is only one reason for that.

This entire... ENTIRE forum is dedicated to people celebrating/discussing/whining about apple tech products. What are you even doing here?
I'm here as an Apple user, and I’m discussing what is so hard to understand?

Why would i pay $1000+ for a phone i cannot use on the go, only two handed when i sit down on my couch or behind my desk. Why would i use my phone when i have a tablet on the couch and two big screens on my desk?

This big phone craze came from a certain type of people that do everything on their phone, except what it was meant for. Smart people always prefer the right tool for the right job.
I know some people that have small hands and they use the max without issues.

And when your mini is eventually obsolete, Apple believes you will turn around and buy a bigger iPhone anyways. There isn’t a mini substitute readily available from any major phone manufacturer. Heck, Apple will use it as an opportunity to sell you a watch too. Apple does not believe that lack of a mini will make you switch to another brand

The best chance (which is still unlikely) to have apple make a new mini is if Samsung make one and it was successful. But this has worked [yet] to encourage Apple to make a foldable phone
This crackes me up, mini phones don't sell well that is why there are not any good substitutes. And people hung up on the mini phones would just use a regaul iPhone for a couple weeks they would complete forget about the mini. This comes down to change and peoples unwillingness to make changes.

Ok ... WE WANT THE MINI BACK! ... it is probably just 10 or 15% of us but that's more than some yearly improvements Apple report.

Seems high. What "us" are you referring to? I didn't think mini sales ever accounted for more than 3% to 5% of total iPhone sales in a given year. Hence a reason Apple stopped making them.

It'ss actually VERY different in person.

The 6 has rounded sides and is MUCH wider the SE had a flat front, back and sides, feels entirely different in hand and pocket.

says.... you?

if i want a big screen on the go, ill bring an ipad mini.
if i want a device to carry in my pocket, it want it to be small.

its not about 'change' its about meeting my requirements and practical use cases.

bs, you cant hold it with one hand and press the top opposite corner, no way.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then turn on Reachability. To lower the top half of the screen, do one the following: On an iPhone with Face ID: Swipe down on the bottom edge of the screen. On an iPhone with a Home button: Lightly double-tap the Home button.

PS I use my one with one hand all the time without issue.

if its small, im in.

see? change isnt hard.
forcing me to buy a device i dont want, is.

itd be like going to a mini cooper dealership (iphone mini) and them trying to sell you an F150 truck (pro max hyper fighting edition).

'but but this truck (massive phone) has four wheels, uses the same gasoline and has sidesteps (ui pulldown)!!! everyone loves having a truck!!! what do you mean you dont want a truck?!?!?'

vs

'oh here is a fiat (folding phone)... its not exactly what you wanted/asked for (mini) but it meets your requirements and needs'

yah thats super convenient.... sounds like a cheap hack/workaround.

my point still stands you cannot touch the opposite corner of the screen itself (not the ui) while holding with one hand. thats too big imo.

i guess this concept is hard for you to grasp.

🙄
The difference is that there is a large enough market for the Mini Cooper. It is not about what you want it about, but what companies can make a profit selling. If money were to be made, there would be mini smart phones.
