My 2.33/160 15" precious has arrived after an agonizing journey halfway around the world. I did have to let it thaw out for a half hour or so before switching it on - it is a brutally cold day here in the northland.

After much praying, it is dead pixel-free. The glossy screen is beautiful. Fit and finish seems spot-on.

For all the other one three niners out there, don't worry too much about the estimated FedEx ship date - mine still indicated tomorrow up until delivery.

Right now I'm migrating from my iMac with a couple of hours left. I'll post more info once I actually get to use it...

Good luck all, may your 'books arrive safe and sound, and thanks for the "support group."

Yeah.. I'm with you! But, even though FedEx hasn't updated, iSnoop says
11/01/06 02:17 pm: Left Fedex Ramp

So hopefully that means its in route to Alaska!
We can only hope!
Mine is exactly 6:37 PM on 10/31 too.

so buy looking at other peoples time lines r MBP should be making AK by about 2:30 today.... and hopefully indy by tommorrow am... then the short 50 min drive to my front door tommorrow... think i am just hopeful?

Where are you from? You should update your info in control panel so we know... 2:30 to you may be different than my 2:30.
I hope it gets to indy TODAY - we dont want them kicking it in Alaska too long.. they'll freeze!

Have patience - you are trying to adopt to a new paradigm in computing - don't expect instant wonderfulness - it's there, but you have to swim a river first.

I suggest you re-post your issues in the Help discussion, it'll get better attention there and won't be run over by the rabid enthusiasm (tunnel vision?) in this thread.

One thing though, if the disk is unreadable, your machine should indeed 'burp' it out like a bad pancake, I wonder why it didn't - you got thick labels on it?

As for the tunnel vision - MINE's ON THE TRUCK! Fedex still shows a delivery time of tomorrow though - they're wierd.

I will post my transit information, it may help others waiting.

That's identical to what I get at isnoop.com. Right down to the minuet.
Right until "11/01/06 04:25 am Left Fedex Sort Facility Indianapolis, IN"
Instead I have "11/01/06 04:12 am Held At Sort Facility Indianapolis, IN"
So yeah.
My MBP is being held hostage or something.
Better go bust it out.

Are the times listed on iSnoop the local times where the shipment currently is?

For example:
10/31/06 11:50 am Arrived At Sort Facility Anchorage, AK

is that 11:50 AM Anchorage time?

Does anyone know?

Yes - we have similar leave times yet our delivery times are local. My delivery time is correct for LA. My leave time is same as yours so whole list is not localized to delivery zone. I'd say yes, all local.

Yes. That's why Shanghai showed future time relative to where I am. They had a night time listing yesterday when it was morning for me.

That's a tough call - - it all depends on how fast it gets to Indianapolis.
I checked my FedEx tracking, and our MBPs must be right next to each other - I have the 10:46 arrival and the 11:22 International Shipment Release.

You're freakin' set! You are only 51 miles from Indianapolis.... you may get yours tomorrow dude!
I, however, am 451 miles from Indianapolis... so Thursday looks fairly out of the question....

Mine's been on the vehicle for delivery sine 8:44am PST and isnt here yet! I actually called FedEx this morning, because the accessories were showing as on the truck, but not the MBP... the reo said they had a plane arrive late and that if it didnt show as on the truck in an hour and a half to call back, it did!

Just waiting by the window here... Jumping up everytime a truck rumbles by ;)

(As I was typing that last line, Vista RC2 crashed and re-started...As a nice touch though, Firefox 2 restored the session including my text!)

When your computer is reading/writing from/to CDs/DVDs, don't do anything else.
Wait until it's finished and then go about your business.

This advice totally goes against how Macs are supposed to (and do) work. One thing people generally love about OS X is that you CAN burn a DVD in the background while surfing the web, listening to iTunes, and chatting via your favorite IM app... all without a hiccup.

It sounds like kstotlani's problem was with reading a Windows DVD or maybe a corrupted file... not with his Mac being able to multi-task.

Macs usually can burn a DVD and do something else at the same time.
But kstotlani's seemed to be having some problems, and burning DVDs is sometimes a tricky task for the Finder.
