Real download manager in Safari, much improved and rethought automation, very carefully designed Dark Mode (with usual Apple details you may have missed - read Federico Viticci’s iOS/iPadOS review if interested), 3D/haptic touch improvements, noticeable performance improvements, external drive support (on iPhones, too), DualShock 4 and Xbox controller support alongside Apple Arcade, more natural Siri... and that’s not counting numerous improvements in maps, keyboard, ARKit, HomeKit, visual and functional tweaks, Apple Sign-in, etc.

Just for iPhones alone (not even mentioning the insane iPad features) this is one of the most feature-rich, packed releases ever. Literally every aspect of the OS has been improved and there are a bunch of new features.
There are so many new improvements but the GM was really not cooked long enough, not sure how well 13.1 is either tbh. I think we will see quite a few updates to get it running any where near right. This is the tradeoff with new features and bugs though, and its driven by that yearly flagship cash cow, when it could do better now things have plateued with maybe more time working on the OS. I miss OS X two year update cycle, maybe iOS and macOS need that.

I'm loving having native sweep typing and it's been very accurate so far. Night mode of course. And I've already saved a few articles with the new screenshot function to save the entire length of a web page as PDF, LOVE that feature.

Oh and this morning me and my girlfriend spontaneously looked through the past few years in photos remembering a bunch of moments, something that the previous vast clump of photos didn't inspire me to do.

As I mentioned above, external drive support doesn't seem to be working properly on my iPhone right now, with the files app being unable to detect my flash drive through the lightning adapter. No big loss; I don't see myself accessing files that way, but a little anticlimactic. Maybe it will be more stable when I connect the drive directly to my iPad pro's usb-c port.

Update: Just tried this again, got it to read, but I am randomly being disconnected. Still doesn't feel reliable enough.

Speaking of 3D Touch, it actually feels more muted on my 8+. Can't say it's an improvement.

Don't live in the US, so the maps improvements don't quite trickle down to me (and likely never will).

Controller support is cool, but I don't have any gaming consoles, and already own a steelseries MFI controller.

Totally forgot about Apple Sign-in. Must get round to playing with that eventually.

The new share sheet will take some time getting used to, I suppose.

You are right about the visual tweaks. I like the more translucent notification bubbles.

I need to play around with iOS 13 more. :)

Find IOS 13 to be, well, pretty boring! Waited a year for this? Besides dark mode, nothing else really wows me.
Plus, benchmarks coming out show app launch tests slower in IOS 13 on new phones, vs the other phones. SO its clear apple rushed to get this IOS 13 out the door, after SO SO SO many beta tests, and it still is buggy, incomplete. Most of what they added could have been in a X.1 update. But I guess they need to release a new IOS each year, to help phase out old phones, so this is what can be expected.

Hopefully we get a IOS UI refresh next year

I'm impressed with the speed. It's definitely snappier than 12.4.1.
But I hate the the new look of the Photos app - the "all photos" view is a total mess. Also, it has rendered my reminders unshareable between devices, which is annoying to say the least.

Once I got through some of the more serious bugs I like it a lot. It's definitely faster than 12.4.1 on my iPhone XR, but it really feels like a beta when you consider the two major bugs I've come across:

1. Cannot verify server identity (had to delete and re-create all my different e-mail accounts to solve this one)
2. Gameplay framedrop/lag is pretty terrible, especially with Real Racing 3. I even tried deleting the entire app and downloading again from scratch and the same performance issues remain.

Definitely feels buggy and slow on my 11 pro max. It would have probably been better to start the phone fresh instead of migrating. As usual I’m sure it will be fine after an update or 2.

Overall I'm happy with it and I feel it's done well now that I took a couple hours to comb through every single setting on the phone and set them all how I want them and make sure nothing I had set prior got changed (this always happens to a couple settings for some reason).

That said, iOS 13 has its bugs, but surely they will be sorted out soon enough. Nonetheless, I have a short list of things in Notes that I need to see fixed and the sooner I can delete those, the better. Hopefully iOS 13.1 fixes them all on Tuesday - glad to be getting a .1 release so soon.

Meh.

Happy about Silence Unknown Callers (got one of these calls just minutes after updated). Dark mode, like, but too many apps that are not compatible with it.

Hate: Podcasts app has taken many steps backward re: stability. All kinds of freezes, podcasts stop playing, skips to next, removes unplayed podcasts from playlists/stations. Ugh!
When I update on Tues - "Silence Unknown Callers" WILL be toggled on immediately! I am very excited for this and hopefully it does work flawlessly on my end. I get at least 2-3 Spam, Unknown calls a day. Some I can "Ignore" immediately, some I can't on my iPhone and have to let the darn phone ring. I welcome this feature with open arms, thee junk calls have been frustrating for me...for so, so many for years now!

I’m happy with iOS13. It’s fast, battery life hasn’t taken a hit, the look and feel of the devices is different now thanks to dark mode, and I imagine I’ll be exploring the feature set for weeks to come. It seems like many small things have been changed/optimised which will affect user experience as we get used to them, so looking forward to adjusting iOS13 to my liking.

For the moment, I explored the settings a little, tried dark mode and just browsed around the phone to see if there are any major bugs. So far I’ve only encountered one small bug that disappeared immediately, but apart from that all of the “issues” I see are small and brief instances of the OS setting in, tiny hiccups that will be sorted or I’ll just stop noticing them.

Judging by reviews and comments on the forum, it’s been a rough ride so far, but I haven’t experienced a problem that would affect my use of the phone. Basically, provided that battery life is unaffected, if iOS 13 stays like this for good, I’d be fine with it. I try not to mind the small hiccups as they are inevitable, and they’re mostly just rough/unpolished system effects that may be stuttering a little due to the phone doing work in the background in the first hours of the update. We’ve received enough new features to accept the trade-off of having some bugs here and there, which will be sorted out in future updates.

Of course, this applies to those of us who haven’t seen any important apps rendered unusable by the update.

Mostly happy. Especially liking the swipe keyboard without resorting to third party solutions. Mail app has some bugs.
Patiently waiting for version 13.2.1, lol.

Still seeing bugs in Safari 13.1 iPad. Occasionally, at least a couple times a day, pages will quit loading all together until closing out the safari app and restarting it. Other than that fairly happy ios 13

I enjoyed 3D Touch and miss it on the 11 Pro Max. Is Haptic Touch worse on iOS 13 vs 12? I've noticed sometimes when I press down on an app, it doesn't do anything.

Overall, pretty good for a major release. Only two big changes I've had to make so far:
  1. Had to delete the stock Mail app, as it wasn't downloading my IMAP sent mail folder. Switched to Spark.
  2. Deleted my Memoji and went back to my Zen picture for iCloud.
I can Save to Files, but it's in the Favorites, and boy, it's buried!

Yes, some great new features. Love the new photos app which is what I was looking forward to most. Not encountered any issues/bugs so far.
Only gripe is the lack of 3rd party app support for dark mode so far, but then that's not really a gripe with iOS as much as it is with the app developers.

Has anyone noticed their iPhones heating up a lot more compared to 12.4.1? I played around with 13 for a day and my 7 was so hot doing basic light things. It wasn’t indexing either. I’d let it sit and it would cool right off. But then after opening a few apps the processor would heat right up within minutes. It’s like it’s maxing our every time I open and app or scroll around. I dropped back to 12.4.1 because of this.

6s
I’m very happy, smooth and fluid experience. Battery seems the same but it’s only been 1 day. It has a lot of nice features. I would recommend people to download this iOS and I don’t usually say that the first week of a new iOS.

Ya, it's alright...

People whined for it for years and Apple finally gave in. I’m not really impressed. Seems rather gimmicky as the Facebook messenger app had it long before iOS 13. Apple always seems to be playing catch-up.

This is the first time I’ve ever had a serious problem with an iOS update — Reminders is totally broken.

First, I didn’t realize that upgrading to the “new” Reminders would scorch all my existing reminders & lists; I probably should have read the notice before clicking “yes,” that one’s on me.

But now that I need to rebuild my reminders from scratch, I can’t do it – the app is almost totally blank (there’s just “Edit,” a Search bar, and “Add List,” which does nothing). Tried a “backdoor” method of managing reminders (reinstalling Fantastical), but no dice – the app won’t let me see or create them at all.

I rely on Reminders for persistent lockscreen notifications, I’ve never found another task/reminder app that does this; it’s a big deal for me.

EDIT: After a bunch of restarts, I suddenly have access to actual Reminders again. It’s still acting buggy – I created a (one-time) test reminder, and it ended up under the “Repeating” category; trying to add family members to a “Family” list does nothing – but at least it’s not just a blank page!
