Jelly scrolling doesn’t bother you?
Using the Mini the last 6 month and never saw it… ;)

For basic daily usage like reading, quick search, mails, youtube and so, i prefer using the Mini instead of the phone or MBP, but they still having their place for other usages.

Opened mine today. It’s a mixed bag.
It essentially comes down to this. What (Apple) choice do I have? I’m coming from a (broken but mostly functioning) 10.5 Pro. I wanted something small and light while I’m out and about recording music acts with my iPhone. The 10.5 was just a bit too unwieldily. Always a chonk to carry around. Figured I’d try the Mini (owned one years and years ago).
The jelly is annoying but workable. The bigger gripe is the occasional stuttering of animations and somewhat lagging performance here and there. It feels like a struggle sometimes like a lack of memory. I’m spoiled from the 120hz.
I also had in my head the Wi-Fi 6 would be some blazing fast thing, but it didn’t seem like it… though that’s probably due to the network location I was uploading videos.
It’s hard to describe. This mini feels just… weird. The placement of the volume buttons. And the location of Touch ID seems awkward.
Granted. These are all muscle memory things. I can get used to it. In fact, I have to get used to it. There’s no other viable option and stay in the ecosystem. Oh well.
I use these things as tools mostly. And while it’s generally fine, I'm already looking forward to the next iteration.

Aaaand it’s going back. Call me when the jelly is fixed and it’s 120hz
(I have a feeling I’ll be waiting a while for that call). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mini not intended to replace full size iPad
For its size it holds its own
Battery life good, good screen (DPI)✔️
Really haven’t noticed jelly scrolling for what I use it for
Bottom Line: good for what it’s intended

I love my mini 6. With the Pencil snapped on to the side, it’s exactly the super mobile all-in-one I’ve waited for. I now also have an M1 12.9” iPP, so I’m not sure which I prefer, but fortunately I don’t have to decide.

Sold M1 iPad Pro the mini 6 and I’ve also never looked back. The extreme portability, ease of use for reading books (I’m reading a LOT more than I’ve ever had outside of career needs), browsing, file transfer from older HDD to portable SSDs via USB-C dock, etc.

I’m very impressed that connecting to my 34”LG LCD works as flawlessly (directly or via dock with DP connection) is just about exactly the same as the M1 Pro. Only the hdr being displayed is less that’s it.

Even if apple allows some kind or true macOS when connected to magic keyboard for the M1 iPads I wouldn’t care as that’s not what I want in my iPad anymore. I waited a long time for the pros to have Xcode and hoped and thought the Pros would get that but after the air got the M1 chip that really soured my pallet with their iPad team. It pissed me off as it heavily devalues the Pros a bit.

My Apple Pencil works exactly as I’ve experienced as well so nothing missed.

And yes I’ve falling into much deeper sleeps with the iPad mini on my bed due to reading.
Oh and watching the Leafs for free via AppleTV+ has me cheering & yelling from my bedroom now versus my fashionable yet very uncomfortable couch!

EDIT: 1 thing I do miss is FaceID. All the iPads are better suited to having this dur to the nature of using the device, I still find myself having to remember to use TouchID, even after seeing the visual queue. I keep thinking the visual queue is like my iPhone where I can opt not to use TouchID only to realize DOH I have to.

YES! I feel that the port change on the iPad mini should have been a much bigger deal now that Thunderbolt is gaining traction. I know it's not full blown external monitor support like on a MacBook, but I bought a keyboard and mouse with three bluetooth profiles specifically so I could have my work Mac, personal Mac, and iPad mini 6 hot swappable on my desktop setup. I don't often use the iPad in that configuration, but it has come in handy several times, and it is very, very similar to having a giant iPad Pro on a Magic Keyboard or something. And the mini 6 is still small enough where I can still have it sitting in front of me if I really do need touch or Pencil input while it's connected.

I'm currently very much in love with my new MacBook Pro, so my iPad is getting a lot less love at the moment in my free time, but I am using it almost daily during the workday as a digital notebook, Sonos controller, second screen for my Mac on occasion, etc. and those are the exact kinds of scenarios where I need the iPad to fit. When I can calm my brain down at night enough to read or play a game on it, it's the perfect device for those activities as well.

Same. I sold my iPP 11 to help pay for this 16' MBP and I'm still very much in love with the screen (using it now). Most of my usage is desk based or reading chair with support so for me replacing an iPad with a MBP is very doable. I used an IPP 11 as my primary device for the better part of the last year and am very happy to be back on Mac OS. I do miss the iPad but the screen of the MBP is just so pleasant to read on. I could do both if $ was a bit more free, lol.

Now that I have an iPhone and MBP - I do think a mini would fit in the usage very well if I decided to go back. I miss curling up with a light device and reading for hours and hours. (iPP 11 was a bit too heavy to do that and the iPhone 13 Pro Max is just not big enough to read comfortably for many hours).

I have mine in an Apple folio cover with Pencil attached, and I just use it in any situation where I'd normally have paper reading material or a notebook or a sketchpad or just need something more convenient than my iPhone to get things done on. I even have the Affinity apps on it because I love using the Apple Pencil for editing and design.

I’m very tempted at learning Things! And bringing my iPad mini into work (office support rotation) to use besides the work windows laptop in order to stay focused on items I need to resolve or focus on to minimize another colleagues distraction which is incessant.

I really like my IPad Mini 6 as a grab-and-go device when I head out. Nice jacket-pocket size. I do notice the jelly-scrolling, but it‘s a minor thing for me, not a major issue.

I have a 14in MBP, an 11in iPad Pro, and a Mini 6. I travel for work, and so I tend to adjust what I bring based on my predicted needs. Much of the time, it’s just the iPad Pro if I’m just presenting to customers, emailing, etc.

If I need to do any heavy spreadsheet work, or edit video, or if I’m headed out for an extended trip I need to bring the 14in MBP. That’s when the iPad Mini is perfect as a second device. Small, light, perfect for watching movies or even jumping on a Zoom or Teams call. And I got the cellular version, so it’s ubiquitous connectivity is a huge plus as well.

Is anyone annoyed to fail trying to use youtube slider in full screen mode to move content forward? Instead of that, lot of times I move between apps by mistake as ipad OS slider and youtube slider are too close… any solution or trick for avoiding this?

Definitely a problem. I use the control center playback controls to jump forward and back by 15 seconds. That is usually sufficient for my needs.

Yes, I noticed this too. Quite annoying, tbh.
