You could have kept your 11 Pro Max for 2 more years and upgrade to the 15 Pro Max. Nowadays, it’s better to upgrade every 3/4 years rather than 1/2 years if you want to be amazed of your upgrade.
Agreed as far as change is concerned but the problem with upgrading less frequently is your device becomes less valuable on the market as the years go by. If you hold onto your phones for a really long time or hand them off to family/friends then it can actually be more costs effective to sell/trade-in your device yearly. This is not to say you'll make money or somehow spend less but if you can sell a phone for $800 vs a yr later where it may be worth $500-600 then you'll have to come out of pocket more on the new phone. The 2nd hand tech market is full of people looking for deals on 1yr old devices but but 2yr old devices are much harder to sell.

I'm planning to upgrade to the 14 Pro Max from 13 PM but hoping T-Mobile fixes their JOD issues of HIGH Down Payments this year by at least $450 if they eliminate the 128 GB size and if prices go higher than anticipated.

I also wish you could do JOD upgrades online. but nope. you have to use T-force or call in so inconvenient.

That’s one reason why I left T-Mobile. I got tired of the high down payments so I started paying outright at Apple and it was the best decision I ever made.

Planning to go from the 12 pro to the 14 pro max/plus (whatever they decide to call it). When I first upgraded from the X I went with the 12 pro max. I enjoyed the extra screen real estate but worried that the weight/size of the phone would get old. So I swapped it for the 12 pro. If I am not impressed with what is announced, for sure I will upgrade next year.

However, whenever with friends who had the max version I liked the extra screen real estate so I am going to give it a go this time around long term. If it becomes a problem I will sell it off or just deal with it until my next upgrade. I recently upgraded from the 12" MacBook to the 14" MBP and that was a significant weight/size difference. However, I got used to it and am glad I went this route so hoping for the same thing for the phone route.

I’m in the the yearly upgrade camp, currently I switch between the 13 pro and the pro max. I think this time I’ll just go with the 14 pro max and trade in my old 12 pro ..and also the Apple Watch Pro… I just hope we can order the Watch this week and not have to wait .. Held off getting the Garmin epix 2 for the Watch Pro..

Agreed. Been buying outright from Apple since iPhone XS. No issues with Tmobile's service ( been with them since 2009 ) but their equipment financing and JOD policies turned to absolute trash sometime back!

I remember when I could just waltz in to a Tmobile store and get ANY device ( ios or android ) for $0 down ( JOD or EIP )

Yes there were the days when JOD meant more having it.

For the most part, I was always in the crowd that upgraded iPhones every 2-3 years.

On one rare occasion I upgraded two years back to back. In 2018 I upgraded to the normal XS iPhone but after a while had buyers remorse due to the small screen and the features on that where just underwhelming. Then the 11 pro max was announced in 2019 and I have had that since then.

Now going for the 14 pro max and probably won’t upgrade phones again until like the iPhone 16 or 17.

I was on an every year upgrade cycle until the 12 Pro Max, launched and I’ve been with that since then. I’m going to upgrade to the 14 Pro Max and then go back to upgrading yearly. I’m already saving up for the 15 Pro Max next year, and I’m going to either privately sell my 14 Pro Max next year or trade in to Apple to cut down on the cost some. My iPhone is my 1 expensive purchase a year, except when I get a new suv in 4 years and I’ll skip upgrading that year.

I usually upgrade every 2 years, and I'm currently on the 12 and I am planning on going up to pro this time. Although my current debate with myself is do I go Pro or Pro Max?

Which I think if they're identical camera/screen etc wise then I will keep the regular size for ease of one-handed use. Although the larger screen would make it feel like I was truly getting something new.

No upgrade for me, I'll likely keep my 11 for a few more years, replacing the battery if needed.
This is not what apple or the phone carriers want . You gonna have to upgrade to a 5G iPhone for the better Modem at least .

Upgrading to a 14 Pro from a SE 2020. Excited to have a flagship on release again. (Last time was iPhone 6)

Nah. My wife bought the 13 pro max earlier this year. I’m still on my trusty 8+. She’s been trying to convince me to upgrade for a while now.

But I’m getting the latest security updates, the camera is good enough for my limited usage, and it meets all my needs. I just don’t see the value proposition quite yet at this point.

And then there is me who is moving from a 3.5 year old Samsung Galaxy S10 to the iPhone 14 Pro

I am still rolling with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am not interested in the 14 pro max as it does not offer me much at the moment besides the new notch replacement, a larger camera bump, an always on display and the price hike.

I feel based on rumours the iPhone 16 pro max & iPhone 18 pro max will be more worthy of a update maybe we might see larger displays.

I don’t know if anyone else had an issue with their phones like I did where the camera hardware itself was slow. I’m hoping that focus and overall feel of the camera is faster, smoother and more responsive. My 13 Pro focus hunted quite a bit in indoor lighting. In addition to the issues I had with the pwm it’s one reason I’m eager to try the 14 Pro/Max out.
If you have issues, I seem to as well. This was my experience too. The 13 Pro Max didn't feel like an upgrade to my 11 Pro Max.

Yikes! Sorry you dealt with that, too. Yeah I was missing the camera on my 12 Pro Max. I stupidly thought the 13 Pro just needed a software update. This time,$&$80&&0890’ lol if there are any hardware issues I’m not going to assume or wait for a software fix unless one is immediately confirmed by Apple to be heading toward imminent release before the return period is up.

I have a 12 Pro Max....I just didn't see the need to upgrade to the 13 Pro Max last year. If the rumors of always on display were true I was going to pull the trigger. I will probably upgrade this year....I was upgrading each year but I just didn't see the need last year.

Upgrading from my 13 Pro Sierra blue to probably a Space Grey 14 Pro, unless there's a special colour introduced...

Hanging on to my ip13. I used to upgrade yearly without fail. This years iPhone doesn't excite me enough to part with my hard-earned dosh. Maybe next year. Maybe Pixel 7 pro. Maybe a Dora! The tech doesn't excite me as much as it used to.
