There was no event for the original plastic macbook, if i recall.

My guess is quiet update to mini and macbook next week and imac event later in two weeks or so.

True.

The thing is, there is no way to tell. Sometimes big things have no event and small things have one. For example, the change from PowerBook to MacBook Pro wasn't that much of a change (only the internals were changed, and the addition of an iSight), and it had it's spot at Macworld 2006. The iBook to MacBook was a drastic change, completely overhauled, yet it was just an update on the website, without any event.

I agree. More "Mac fans" should realize, just as Steve Jobs did years ago (1997?) that for Apple to suceed, Microsoft does not have to fail, and vice versa.

Which is too bad.. because Microsoft fails.. often.

For an hour and a half? Not likely.

That sentence can be misinterpreted. I'm not sure what bbydon disagrees about.

I threw in the towel!

no more waiting for the imac. i ordered and already received a quad mac pro from amazon. price: $2290 incl. ship and no tax. sure, a lot more than an imac, and i might regret this once the new imacs do come out, but this is ONE FINE MACHINE.
i already had a nice dell 23" widescreen monitor and am upgrading memory to 6gh for $100 thanks to OWC.

one big plus is you can add/remove 4 drives in a jiffy and customize any way you want. my last imac needed a HD replacement and apple wanted $380 for that (320GB drive). thats just insane.

Yes, I too would like to know if/when they are coming out with a new iMac. It was my birthday yesterday and this is what I wanted to get.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that with Intel switch we were going to see more frequent updates for the macintosh line. As it is now we are basically getting one update every year. That's OK for cars but not for computers!

I totally agree. Basic GB/ghz/ram refreshes should be happening every few months by default for any computer company, not 'MAYBE" every 200 days.

Making potential Mac buyers wait 3 weeks to order a Mac isn't good, especially when Windows 7 is looming. I've jumped between the idea of simply getting a 600$ gaming rig with Windows 7 on it. The only thing that's kept me from doing that is Garageband and my M-Audio mac-only usb Keyboard.

i'm in the exact same boat as you.. I just don't know if I have the extra $$ to spend on a Mac Pro over an iMac. But I'm waiting. Selling my Dell and waiting to see what Apple announces with a new iMac (if they do).

Sorry sometimes I forget all punctuation. I choose option two. I think you can talk about a multitouch mouse and an iMac for an hour and a half. They talked about a stupid aluminum case for that long.

Your statement makes me laugh in so many ways. Oh yeah, Apple NEEDS to make sure to get the new iMacs out before Windows 7 gets in the wild. Dude, it's not like Apple is holding onto their customer base by a string and their lack of timing will send people back to using Windows. If you feel that way then you should just go back to Windows anyway, based on your post you seem to feel that you can get more for less from Steve Ballmer. :p

Please remind me why we dont think it will be tomorrow (13th) again :)

Personally its cos im kinda willing Jobs to get his pretty little bum up on stage and keynote the awesomeness of his new creation ... and that would need time

But ... I'd take new stuff and way they wanna insert it into me :D

Quiet... Why No New rumors of new imacs?

Why so quiet? Maybe were not looking at a October release.

What are you expecting? Most rumors are just crap and leads to nothing. If you're waiting for "analysts" rumors and expectations, don't, they aren't worth it

Patience

Patience everyone. There will be new iMacs very soon. It is merely a question of exactly when.

Apple has updated its mainline models roughly every 7 months (31 weeks) for a while now. This is practically an industry standard. They can't put things off too long without an update or else their market numbers will start to slip. We'll may be waiting a few more months instead of a few weeks, but Apple knows full well that most people don't want to buy a year old computer model (even if it is an Apple  ) when everyone knows a new one is due out very shortly. :)

Mind you, I'm personally content to wait and enjoy the speculation in the meantime. Cheers. :D
