Just incase anyones interested getting a 3GS for $49 cant go wrong.
AT&T wireless just started their 24 hour black friday sale. Picked up a refurb 3GS 16GB for $49 with free overnight shipping and waived activation fee!!!

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-ph...4160233&q_package=sku4160234&_requestid=75453

Edit: Direct link to 16GB phone. 32GB Refurb is also on sale for $149. Just click the 24-hour banner on the main AT&T wireless page.

"*Requires purchase of a $30/mo data service. 2 year contract & new activation required. Limit 2 iPhone devices per household when ordering online.
iPhone does not qualify for the Bing cashback program. "

A sweet deal for people who are currently non-AT&T customers (I take it that's what "new activation required" means).

I would have ordered one for my wife, but she's already on our family plan with a regular cell.

I wish there was some way to get those priced in Canada.

I am flip flopping between Bold 9700, Storm2, or iPhone. I have a Mac at home, and iPhone would be nice, but it's at least $199 on a 3 year contract here!

So you sign up for the plan with AT&T when ordering I assume? I'd imagine they wouldn't just send it to you then you have to activate it at home.

Wow!

to me this is AWESOME! my husband and i have been wanting to get iPhones FOREVER now but would have to terminate with verizon early, something we didn't really want to pay for. but now, the savings would basically make up for our ETF! plus it would be our early christmas presents to each other.

any idea how long these deals will last? i know its only for 24 hours, but i hope they don't sell out before my husband and i can decide if we want to do this or not.

can anyone recommend these refurbs? do they work out ok? not sure if we should do this or wait until may/june when our contract is up...

any advice would be great! thanks so much!!

Trying to convince my gf to ditch Verizon so I can give her my 3G and I can have the 3GS :D

My wife and I both have refurbs and I highly recommend them. They have the same Apple Care warranty and look and work great. 49 dollars for a 16g 3GS is a stupendous deal. DO IT!!!!!!!

My husband is up for an upgrade, so we decided to get one of these. The problem was that our billing address is a PO Box and they can't ship to a PO Box. In order to use my credit card I have to use the PO Box. I have been shopping online all morning and every other website gives you the option of entering an alternative shipping address. Not ATT. So I call customer service. They say there is nothing I can do and suggest I go to an ATT store and they might honor the price. The closest ATT store is an hour away, and I have my three children with me, and it's Black Friday. I called the store to see if it would be worth the trip, but there was not an answer. I left a message, but I am not holding my breath that they will return my call. I hope you all have better luck.

Update: I called the store back and finally got a person. He told me that they do not have refurbs at the store and could only sell me a new one at regular uprade price. I ended up calling my mom who let me use her shipping address and credit card. I have been hearing those screaming for a Verizon iPhone. I was pretty much indifferent until today. Of course Verizon has its own issues.

That sucks, sm2teach. AT&T's system is pretty lame. I've been a customer for 6 years. Any time I do a new phone or anything else that involves them mailing something to me, they insist my street address doesn't exist! Been that way the whole time, yet they have no trouble sending my bill to me every month. As a result of this, I too, can't do online orders from AT&T and their phone reps won't honor online deals.

Doesn't really matter. They're all done by third party refurbishment contractors hired by ATT and Apple. Could even be the same one.

Refurbs are okay. I have an iPod touch refurb that was a price deal and has worked very nicely for well over a year.

I never said that refurbs were not okay. Sometimes they are actually better than the original product (for example, the refurb iPhone I got from Apple after I had a problem with the 3GS I bought on launch weekend).

Apple and AT&T have different refurb procedures. Apple's testing is more extensive and their quality control is superior. There have been AT&T customers that have received AT&T refurbs that have had fingerprints all over them and even old user data still on the phones.

I'm not saying that refurbs are duds. All I'm saying is that:
Apple refurbs > AT&T refurbs

well said.
It doesn't make any difference if the refurb is sold by apple or AT&T.
They both carry the same warranty and refurb process.

For the Wife

Added a 16g 3gs for $52.24 Total! No activation fee and Free overnight shipping! There cannot be a better deal than that, at least if you discount the fact that Iphones, and their plans, are too expensive from the jump!

But alas, I do love the Iphone...

we did it

we talked it over and we got them. two 16gb 3gs. i'm very excited.

but, now what? they'll ship them to us, then what do we do? take them to a store to activate?

and will they send us an email when they ship? i'm not sure if we got the order submitted in enough time for the overnight shipping...

help? haha
