I did the same thing about a year ago. Has AT&T discontinued tethering with the new plan now?

This is the verbiage on my unlimited option:

About this plan

  • Unlimited high-speed data (after 22GB per device per month, speeds may slow)
  • 10GB mobile hotspot data per device (after 10GB, hotspot speed limited to max of 128Kbps)
  • HD video streaming (when available with Stream Saver turned off)
  • $10/mo. credit with AutoPay & paperless billing
  • Monthly discount on qualifying TV service from AT&T (plan doesn't require TV)
  • HBO® included at no extra charge (may be billed and then credited within 2 bill periods)

I’ve always gotten excellent service from AT&T reps. But regardless, I’m confused why they are saying you have 30 MINUTES left when you seem upset about your DATA plan, and why this is in regard to your iPad when you’re posting in a thread for iPhones. Something is very inconsistent here.

Hi

I did not say I had 30 minutes left. I tend not to use "your" or an attributive adjective when referring to myself' at least not yet. What you read was a section of an earlier AT&T email sent to me. The entire email follows:

==============
AT&T Plan Expires Soon
Dear Valued Customer,

Cellular Data Number is

Your Unlimited MB for 30 days - LTE rate plan has approximately 30 minutes of the plan duration remaining. To purchase more, please go to Settings on your iPad.

Thank You,

Actually, some of their subsequent emails were even more obtuse and confusing.

Why put my comment here? My comments could have easily been placed in the Ipad forum. But, This forum seemed the most appropriate when I quickly reviewed the pertinent issues. if you search "at&t grandfathered plan" you will notice that the comments run into the hundreds and are spread over a number of forums. Also, this problem could have just as easily been my Iphone, both have the same plan and the same company. Frankly, I suspect that it will be next to have problems with AT&T's grandfathered plan. The issue is not the ipad or my iphone, but the Grandfathered data plan. Hope this answers your suspicions regarding my post.

Now, gotta go watch and listen for those Black Helicopters.

AT&T can reinstate your iPad original plan again, just keep calling until you get someone that has a clue about the original iPad $29 Unlimited 30 day data plan from back in 2009. They are able to see the activity on the iPad account.

My suggestion is to call 611 and when asked for the number it is regarding type your "iPad data number" . You can find the phone number under the Settings menu there is an About option that lists a whole bunch of stats about your iPad. Towards the bottom of the initial screen is an iPad cellular or data number that is a 10 digit phone number with a 1 before the area code.

You should end up talking to the iPad Support Group.
