Excellent, thanks DF.

Do I have to go through the exact same process via retention or no?

As far as I know, yes. Give them a ring / try live chat. You know the drill ;)

Still not sure what to do with my contract X, now having an XR full retail myself. Could trade it in for $500 to apple but its jailbroken so I kinda want to hold onto it as a backup / alternative device at least until an XR jailbreak is out. The form factor is comfier in hand too, so maybe I should just keep it for a while.

Good luck! Keep us posted, this thread has fizzled since the X $549 hype :D

Quick search found this slickdeals thread-

I got the Xr 128 gb for $350 with all fees waived. They promised no additional fees added or subtracted to my monthly service billing since I’m on the unlimited plan.

It’s $450 off any new phone, I could’ve gotten the Xs 256 for $800 but after research I’d rather save that $450 for Christmas shopping instead And got the Xr and so far I’m very happy with it.

Thanks for the heads up on this - I was planning to get my daughter an XR at full price as the Black Friday discounts at Walmart, Best Buy, etc. wouldn’t really work for us. Found out her mother - my ex wife – has an AT&T unlimited plus plan, with no plans of changing to another carrier. So I asked her to run down this deal and I ended up getting my daughter an X (which was her preference as it has a better screen and she has smaller hands) for $450 and I got my ex-wife an iPhone 8 for $150 - ending up with two Christmas gifts for $150 less than I would’ve paid for the XR. Activation fees waived, no change to my ex wife’s monthly bill.

Awesome they still offer X and for $100 less now! I stand corrected @boltjames

FYI, I just called the loyalty dept and got this same deal that I got last year on my X. I got a 128GB XR for $350 and a 64GB iPhone 8 for $150 on 2 year commitment. Did have a $45 activation fee per line that I couldn't get waived. After tax and everything, it was $541 for both phones. Not too shabby.

How did you get another deal if you signed up for a 2 year contract a year ago? Did you pay off your X to end your 2 year contract?

I have 4 lines. It was two of the other lines that I upgraded. I technically could still do it in my last line.
