They won't let me take it home. They said they are the only store having this problem and they won't let me go home until it is unbricked. BOOOOOO

won't let you go home?? do they want to get sued? or arrested? that sounds like kidnapping to me.

you paid for the phone already? you have the phone in your hand? then walk the **ck out of the store

Looks like the fix is in. All the Apple-haters can stop moaning as that was a pretty decent turnaround. Servers go down, it happens (anyone remember Amazon's mad dash for the $100 360?), and I'm glad that Apple got it turned around in decent time.

no, the activation is the only thing that is failing on such a large scale. AT&T's system has been able to handle the load. Apparently Apple's servers were not plentiful enough to satisfy all the activation requests.

It's ironic that apple failed instead of AT&T.

That's not what I experienced at the Apple Store in Ann Arbor, MI.

There was a point in time where no employee in the store could register anyone using the little handheld scanners. When the scanner attempted to connect to AT&T, it got a "server busy" error. This was eventually resolved but it held up the line for close to an hour. Not sur if this happened elsewhere but it did appear to be an ATA&T issue and not an Apple one.

Hey guys! Same problem in Tennessee. I was first in line this morning and 3 hours later, still no phone.

I, however, am getting a sligtly different message than most of you; My iTunes (at home) says it could not complete the request due to a network connection time out. The Internet is running fine on the computer I'm syncing with and the rest of iTunes is running fine (Online store included) but the iPhone won't connect.

Is this the same problem as everyone else or is it something different?

Thanks!

Will not activate from my home laptop.

Soooooo, my question is, can I go into the store and purchase another iPhone 3G and be eligible for the "upgrade" price??????

I just got home from the apple store, and I'm stuck with 3 unactivated iphones. I guess I'll just keep trying until it works? Any other ideas? :(

iTunes Finally allowed me to Register and do Restore!!

The Gods are smiling upon me because iTunes has restored my 3G iPhone using a backup from my old iPhone. I am now watching a full sync. Whoo hoo! Just be patient and maybe give an offering to the Gods.

Well I can't get mine to connect either, however my old iphone still works and sends and receives phone calls.... Does that mean I have a non-contract iphone 3g and my old iphone?

Charged full price for MobileMe!

Just realized after arriving home and attempting activation...no go, that I didn't receive my $30 discount for purchasing MobileMe and iPhone together.
Now I'm going to have to go back again!

This is the message I am getting:

We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out.

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.

Of course I can access the iTunes Store and download all the music I want.

Guys/Gals,

Although I still haven't been able to get activated. I switched my sim card from my old iPhone to my new one and it works!

I don't know what problems this may cause. Later when I hear that activations are going through consistently I will switch sim cards back and activate.

But the new iPhone is showing im on a 3G network.

the lady who i got the iPhone from did not even open the box because she said it wasn't working and sent me home with it. She did not make me sign a contract either? I just upgraded a line through family plan but i just signed my CC receipt..
