iOS 9.0.2 did NOT resolve the issue........ AT&T is the culprit at this point!

Just tried the same test I did before lunch.

Play a purchased song, not on my phone on LTE.

Still doesn't play on LTE. :(

I actually got a new error message, The network connection was lost.
What network connection?

I'm curious if it happens in 9.0.

I am looking to exchange my 6S Plus. If I do, I will test it before applying any update.

AT&T said it would be iOS 9.0 through 9.0.2 now. Then again AT&T usually talks out of their own a$$

It's definitely an AT&T issue from what I'm reading around the web. Unfortunately we are the ones stuck in the middle.

I encourage everyone to contact apple support. They have been helpful, but not really able to do anything. I think the more calls/chats they get about this specific topic, the more likely they will be to have higher level engineers take a look at the issue, which clearly isn't going to be resolved by restoring the phone (in my case they want me to go from ios 9.1 beta back to 9.0.1 (9.0.2 I guess now).

At this point it's more than annoying. Gonna have to switch to a different carrier if nothing changes (assuming it's an AT&T issue)
I have an iPhone 5s...I was running IOS 8.4.1 and started having these exact problems as of about a week ago. My wife has an iPhone 6PLUS and she is having the same problems. I have been in contact with ATT and Apple numerous times over the past few days. I even upgraded this morning to IOS 9.1 and still have same streaming problems with Apple Music. I want to think it's an ATT problem but everything else works except streaming of Apple Music. But, everyone who is having a problem is an ATT iPhone user so if it was an Apple issue, people with Verizon and others would be on the forum complaining too. Also, I did a Speedtest with the app and it's slower than usual. Really getting pissed off with nobody knowing what's going on.

I don't see how it's an apple issue since other carriers aren't having issues. It definitely could be but all signs point to it being an att issue right now. I can't imagine that they would purposefully throttle app downloads and Apple Music but this is AT&T were talking. About so you never know. Either way something better Change soon.

For what it's worth. I went on my phone and I subscribe to Slacker Radio too..it works fine and no problems.

Just got off the phone with another AT&T tech. She said she's submitted a case higher up the chains to have this looked into and that they would also get in touch with Apple directly.

I specifically mentioned to her that it's only on 4G LTE and is all Apple related (App Store, Apple Music and etc). I also told her that users on iOS 8.4.1 are also having issues based on what I've read here and that other users on different carriers are not having this problem.

Hopefully they can get to the bottom of it.

Same here, at least I have a ticket number.

I also believe it's a CDN thing, because when I have the issue, if I cancel and restart the download, after 2-5 tries of that it downloads immediately on LTE. I suspect that each cancel/restart gives it a chance to select a different server to download from, eventually getting to one that works.

With the Slicegate issue happening, I suspect all the download servers are completely overwhelmed. Everyone has to re-download non-app-thinned versions, as well as people downloading iOS 9.0 and 9.0.1.

I'm also on AT&T.

It definitely seems like a DNS / CDN thing for me.

Connected to AT&T Cellular, with an IP address that places my location hundreds of miles away in another state = slow / non-working Apple connection. Apple Music stops, skips, and won't play.

Connected to AT&T Cellular, with a VPN connection right back to my own house (where I have Charter internet), and an IP that places me at home = fast downloads, Apple Music plays fine, etc.

When I do a lookup on my Public IP with AT&T Cellular, it shows me in Illinois (by Chicago), or in Kansas or something. No where near where I actually am.

Connecting to VPN, despite slowing the overall maximum speed of my connection, allows things to work well enough for Apple Music to play just fine.

I just tried updating my apps again and it's moving now. Slow but it's moving. Where as before, it wasn't moving at all.

However, Apple Music still timed out on me.

Thanks! Let's hope they are getting enough complaints now.

West Los Angeles on AT&T - I do not have Apple Music (killed it) LTE 22D/5U
  • 6S Plus 9.0.1 - App Store downloads great
  • 6 Plus 9.0 - App Store downloads great
  • iMini 3 9.0.1 - App Store downloads great

Looks to be working fine for me here.
... now back to my 200/20 wifi :D

Having a cell ip that shows itself as being somewhere else has always been the case with most any cell provider. There's no reason it should slow to a crawl for just apple services, with Spotify and Pandora being fine.

So, I am having the most inane conversation with an Apple rep.

I cut out some at the beginning discussing my inability to go from the beta to 9.0.2 without losing by backup.

Dorian:Well with that Celluar data Michael it could be that you need to have your sim card switched out. I would consult with them about that.

Dorian:If you do get a new sim card and are still having the same issue you can chat us back and we can look into other options at that point.

Me:But it's only with icloud services.

Me:MY data is fine with everything else. Youtube, amazon music, downcast, etc.

Me:i get great speeds on the speed test app, 30 mbps down

Dorian:Hmm Well if it is only the iCloud services it would mean it could have a issue connecting to the servers which would be coming from the cellar data.

Me:could att have a bunch of bad sims that only affect icloud servers?

Dorian:It could be a possiblity Michael.

Dorian:I wouldn’t weigh it out as a possibility.

Dorian:But your device is new so changing out the sim would be a good step.

Me:The sim is brand new as well. OH and my old 6 which my wife has, has the same problem.

Dorian:did you do the beta as well Michael?

Dorian:She*

Me:That phone has beta software, but now this one doesn't but it still has the issue.

Me:So that would seem to rule out the beta.

Dorian:But not the beta backup

Me:https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7246747?start=60&tstart=0

Dorian:Yes i have seen that article Michael.

Me:Her backup wasn't beta. She came from a 5s with 8.4.1

Dorian:Now that might mean she has a different issue Michael than yours.

Me:So in that thread many users report the issue who aren't on beta.

Me:And her symptoms are identical to mine, so why would it be a different issue?

Dorian:Since I’ve seen this issue Michael normally it has been because of the beta software and restoring their device with a older backup before they backed up with the beta it resolved the issue.

Dorian:And also with cellular data even if it one problem with one process just changing out the sim card would resolve that issue.

Me:eek:k. I will try that and see if it helps, but it doesn't jive with the reports of other users on the forums.

Dorian:I can understand that Michael but we have had training on these issues and are aware of what will fix them :)

Dorian:And online most of the time it is and could be speculation.

Dorian:But i have documented everything we have talked about before.

Dorian:And i want to make sure everything was put in your case notes.

Me:Ok, thanks.

Dorian: Your very welcome and once again my name is Dorian thank you so much for being the best part of Apple and have a great day!

TLDR: This rep claims to have seen this before. And claims it's either caused by the beta (clearly it's not, and going back to 9.0.2 as a clean install did not resolve the issue), or its a sim card issue. When I explained that it happens on two of my devices (thus ruling out the sim card) he tried to claim it was either a different issue on the other device (what?) or that the beta was the problem because it was on both devices (even though I just tested it on a clean install w/o the beta, how circular is that). When I referred him to the thread, and other people having the same issue, he told me he had training and knew how to fix the issue... WHAT?

I'm in KC and I had the issue on my 6 when I upgraded to iOS 9 and also now on my 6s as well as my iPad Air 2. I can do everything fine on wifi but on LTE hell it might as well be EDGE. Very frustrating especially since they just took my Apple Music money, can't even use it

It's Frustrating happening on my iPad Air 2 & iPhone 6s + . ALSO, i have a ATT Fiber @ Work and everything that has something to do with apple ( Soft Updates, Mac Appstore, iOS Services) Is Slow as Hell.
