#flatdesignstillsucks
let me start by saying you are 100% entitled to that opinion

however, I actually prefer flat design,
I find it easier to use, and the fact it looks nicer is a bonus

I do agree that older softwares had more character, and I do miss it
but for me and many people having something easier to use is more important

No, no no no no no no… Please Apple let’s not jump on the PC gaming RGB craze. That needs to die!
yes
I work in photo and film industry

sometimes people told me they didn't hire the other person cause their PC setup "looked to childish" compared to my clean Mac setup

plus it looks so ugly

It was a poor marketing decision to drop it in the first place.

they got rid of it because with thinner screens and higher resolutions they couldn't afford the brightness loss of having it poor out the back

this was an engineering problem, so I hope they bring it back once they find a way to light the thinner screens

I am sure backlit will come back. Why not ?

esc key was gone and come back later
scissor keyboard was gone and come back later
function keys was gone and come back later
mag safe was gone and come back later
hdmi was gone and come back later
sdcard reader was gone and come back later

The only come back I am waiting for is Mr. Jobs. 🥺

Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs

Me in March 2015: Aww man, they're getting rid of the backlit Apple logo! That's a bummer! Why would they do such a thing?

Me in July 2015 after having the screen of my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) crack due to pressure at the weakest point of the display clamshell (which is, you guessed it, the plastic Apple logo) after a flight to Chicago: Oh. That makes sense.

Your 2011 MBP should also turn the glowing logo off when you close the screen. Unless you’re using it on an external monitor. Then it probably leaves it on but I’m not sure

Any time the screen is on, the logo will be on too because the screen’s backlight is was causes the logo to glow. You can turn the brightness all the way down if for some reason you need it to be open but off
I dug it out of the closet and for the people that said it does have the backlit logo, you were right.

Wow... You must be the biggest Apple fanboy in history. I used to love Apple products, but they have made a lot of questionable decisions over the past 10 years that really diminishes the experience. But, I guess Apple has a lot of mindless minions like yourself that will cream all over anything they release no matter how bad their designs become. And no, a notch in the display is not something that is loved by anybody. Oops my bad... Perhaps mindless minion, or narcissistic attention whoores that can't live without a front facing selfie camera in the middle of their screen might love the notch.
Does anyone that disagrees with you automatically get the “mindless minion” appellation or do you need to do something else to gain that sobriquet?

They should make it so that the color can be changed. Apple used a rainbow, right? Why not a allow users to chose the color? I'd love a red Apple logo? Or a green one? A blue one? We have the technology to do it, and it wouldn't cost that much more, and it would be so cool!!

Uhhh. With FALD and oled becoming the norm, how will the logo be lit? It worked before because the lcd backlit was always on. Wouldn’t the logo now be lit different depending on the content on the screen?

It’s not great to have a shiny Apple logo in dark class rooms and conference rooms, if you can’t turn off the light.

The component costs would be trivial. A cheap (probably white) LED rated at 3 volts and 50 ma or less. Probably needs a reflective shield behind it to stop light bleed into the screen, but the real cost is redesigning the plastic for the computer screen and integrating the assembly of these components into the manufacturing process. In quantity, I doubt that the parts would cost $1.00. The changes to the molds and dies that form the lid will cost a lot more but over a run of millions even that cost is small.

Makes sense. Would be interesting to see if the idea comes to fruition (haha get it?).

Could easily spot DJ using a Mac. Nice to have it back. RGB?
Perhaps you should reread the title — It’s not a certainty.

What is certain though is Apple’s rainbow’d logo wouldn’t come back in this form nor would Apple ever entertain adding RGB lights to it’s designs… It’s very tacky & lacks class.

I'll never understand why Apple does away with the simplest of things like this. It should never have gone missing in the first place.
Removing the OG magsafe was also a terrible idea, so I am very happy to see it included back with the added versatility of USB C charging. That was what it should have been.

At least Apple learned thinner isn't necessarily better. I don't necessarily care or hope to see the next MBP generation get thinner. I just want to see it be faster, stay cooler, last longer & perhaps have FaceID finally integrated.

They may have been misguided by thinner is better, but now they seem to have forgotten that lighter is better.

To give some context to this, here are the three main reasons Apple got rid of this in the first place:
1) light could leak in from the back when the display was used in a brightly lit environment--the logo could be faintly see on the screen.
2) it introduced a structural weakness into the the lids, which became a concern as apple made things thinner.
3) there was a change in brand strategy to something less overt.

For this one specifically, it really messes up any kind of color correctness they were trying to obtain as well.
