Oscar Meyer's "Ready to Serve" bacon. I've found it to be the best thing since sliced bread. For those of us who are carnivorous.pimentoLoaf said:Anyone try the ... um...

Why? Well, first of all, it doesn't require refrigeration until you open it, so you can buy a few boxes and keep them wherever.
Second, it comes in 3-slice parts (layer of waxed paper, 3 slices of bacon, waxed paper, bacon, etc.). Nice serving sizes.
Third, it's pre-cooked. 20 seconds in the microwave yields three crispy bacon slices.
Fourth, no mess - no grease, no pan, etc.
I don't eat a lot of bacon (mostly because it's such a pain to make and clean up after), but this is truly nice. Easy to make some for a snack, for a nice BLT, for an egg sandwich (microwave the egg, too, and you've got the ingredients ready before your toasted muffin is ready), etc.
Just thought I'd share....
But I don't want to pull this one off-topic. Tasty bacon is an excellent topic!OutThere761 said:Wow, you definitely just pulled this thread out of its calm, quiet resting place and put it in the hands of us people who seem to be determined to throw every large thread off topic. It's only a matter of time. Bacon is good though... *licks lips*

In fact, I think I'll go make some right now. Back in a minute...
Dodgy? Not at all. It's regular bacon. And, as I can attest now, it is very good.OutThere761 said:No bacon around right now, but it sounds really really good now that I've gotten to thinking about it! If I had some I'd make it, but maybe not the EZ bacon you mentioned earlier, it sounds a bit dodgy.

Yum!
wdlove said:My wife has been cooking bacon in a microwave for years. Don't remember were she got the tip though. The microwave does just as good of as a pan with less mess and cleanup. All that you need is a plate and some white paper towels. I think it takes about ten minutes. This sounds great that it doesn't have to be refrigerated until opening. Time factor is even better. There is nothing quite like a good BLT.
I've had two today. I'll stop, because I don't want to become unable to leave my house due to excessive girth, but, man, were they tasty! Ripe tomato (love those vine-ripened ones, even here in snowy New England), a bit of mayo, nicely made toast, and bacon. Total time per sandwich: time to toast + ~20 seconds (other steps done while toasting).OutThere761 said:I think that you hit the nail on the head wd, with the BLT statement......man do I want a BLT now! I usually don't get like this with the simple mention of food now, but first bacon, and then the thought that the bacon could be put in a BLT...wow!
I can't believe I missed this thread before now! Had my brother not sent me the link, I'd've never thought to post on it. Hopefully, by spreading the word of pre-cooked microwave bacon that needs no refrigeration prior to opening, I have added some joy to the world.daveway00 said:I can't believe a thread about bacon has gone on for so long.

Go get the ingredients, my friend! The taste and texture were excellent... first, the dry toast as you begin the bite. Then, the nearly simultaneous burst of juice from the ripe tomato and crunch as the toast and bacon yield. A brief taste of lettuce, some of mayo, then, as you chew, the combination of it all.OutThere761 said:Gah! *sob*

Then there's the next bite, and the next. So good. Soooo good.
I just had two, and I'm salivating at the thought.
jsw said:OutThere761, to celebrate your 1000th non-Wasteland, non-political post, you should treat yourself to a BLT.
Edit: Damn it! I didn't think you'd know it was 1000, and I had this all ready until you posted next.
