If we're having a "drunk on bacon" thread, I'm sure this article will be useful: a punch recipe in "Bacon" magazine: link

You should post that in the drunk thread Doctor Q. ;)

It doesn't sound good to me. I'll just have my plain old BLT. Without the lettuce and tomato it just would be the same. I also like if crisp Capt Underpants. ;)

nothing to be sorry.they never looked appealing to me, and in hte past 15 years i haven't eaten meat.

i found imitation bacon bites at walgreen's. they are made of soy, and had no animal ingredients, so as curiosity i bought one pack of it (sounds gross, but wanted to try). i'll ask someone who knows (or remembers) how the real bacon tastes, and if the imitation is close enough to it. if not , i won't still try the "real thing". :)

Its as close to the real thing as soy gets to meat.

I've found that bacon in America is different to bacon in the UK.. more streaky. Odd...

It is, in fact, referred to as "streaky bacon" in the UK. It is a different cut of meat. UK bacon is called "back bacon". A friend of mine from the UK at first thought the US bacon was horrible... all fatty, etc. Now he can't stop eating it!

Here is a poem about streaky and back bacon. Poem link

And for you literal (as opposed to literary) minded, an nice summation with pictures of different bacon types. BACON

And wowser, just go to a farmer's market where free-range meat is butchered. They'll have great sausages of all types.

So many people like bacon ... whoa!

I can't stand bacon. I especially can't stand the smell of bacon being fried in a pan. I used to eat turkey bacon about 7 years ago, but my bacon days are long gone.

Handy bacon recipe: Buy a double bacon cheeseburger. Feed the buns, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, meat, and dressings to the pigeons. Eat the rest.

I have to admit, the smell of bacon being cooked makes me ill. I don't eat meat either, and have found that the Morningstar or Lightlife or whatever other soy bacon products are equally unappealing to me.

That's pretty funny but I would have to say, at least for myself, that there is no bacon (except maybe imitation tofu bacon) worse than the carbonized, shriveled Fakin' Bacon they use on your average double-bacon cheeseburger. Not that I would know, of course. I'm far too health-conscious to ever eat something as loathsome as fast food. ;)

man i'm sitting here eating my oatmeal for breakfast, after reading this thread i know something was missing.....BACON!!!!
