This fellow wants to sell his very rare G5 iMac, the one with the Core 2 Duo CPU.
Mind you the price is pretty good, and we'd all love to be able to run OSX Lion on our G5's

I guess it's the same model.

Somewhat unusual to see G3's with original documentation, CD's and 1GB RAM, but I agree it's still far too expensive.
From the ridiculous to the sublime. I've just seen on a local site here, a tangerine tray-loader G3 266Mhz, 192MB RAM, 6GB HD, in original box, with CD's, keyboard & mouse in same colour with OS 10.3 Panther, described in excellent condition for 20euros ($23). Now imho that's a pretty good deal!

I wonder what 'angel-dust' this person has been sniffing this Sun morning?
Powerbook 150. 450€ (only a cool $500). Mind you don't get caught in the rush to purchase........!
There's not even a mention to indicate whether it's functional or not.
I might give this a miss! ;)

The good kind of secrets, not the
"We waste billions of tax dollars every year on pens, paper, thumbtacks, paper clips etc that staff steal and take home with them."
kind of secrets.

Meanwhile, I have a question for all you, when is an MDD not an MDD? When its a Quicksilver, silly!
I'm glad I read this listing, it's disproved so much I thought I knew!

"This macintosh came out just before the power PC type macintoshes came out. It can support up to OSX"

Pity its local collection in the UK only, I'd have loved to have a chat with this guy, he's clearly a true mac guru!

Not actually a poor listing, but I wasn't sure where to park this one...

I agree, but where?

I don't think it was worth starting a new thread just to say I've found an eBay sale of lots of Quicksilvers, a blue and white and 2 G3 imacs".

An expensive deal for a "2006 Mac Pro".

The G5 logo was staring this poster in the eye...

I LOVE PowerPC macs!

Its funny because i have a few PPC machines that i want to sell but i still have a wish list dont we all? All my PPC machines are desktops and all my intel Macs are laptops. I love getting the macs that need some work. But this is NUts. I was looking on our local craigs list (equivalent) and this is nuts. a Macintosh Classic for around $500, an older performa for $299 and this even. Have people LOST IT?!

At some point those prices will become standard as we see the availability of working machines diminish.
It's not just Macs, virtually all retro technology now attracts premium prices as we're still in the trend of "old is cool." This has promoted collectors buying up everything they can with a view to investment, selling on to people who are prepared to pay top prices for an immaculate iBook to pose around with, or simply sitting on it until resale prices really are stupid.
You can see this more with 8 bit micros - a few years ago they were everywhere and went for pennies - now they're like gold dust.
Maybe these cycles have always occurred, I don't know but everything "redundant" now seems to be much sought after :)
