Here are some great deals from a local auction site. If there are two prices listed in the auctions, the upper one is a 'Buy It Now' price, the lower one is the starting price/lowest current bid for the auction.

A nice 17" iMac G4 for 300€

That ad Gamer9430 posted also said the G5 was running Lion. Oh, really? In a similar vein, my old boss insisted on calling the older Mac Pros G5s. He said they were the same. I tried to explain the totally different architectures, but he knew better. Okay.....

Those are always SOOO over priced. I've always wanted to see one and own one.

This was one of my very first vintage Mac purchases. I found a grey SE 466MHz boxed complete on eBay. Since the seller only offered collect (from London so easily accessible) I only had to outbid the sole bidder at the starting price of £5 and got it for 50p more. I paid more for the case I keep it in. Dunno why I bought it, as I never wanted one when they came out but I was in London that day so bid and picked it up within the hour. Impulse buy, I suppose, swayed because it came boxed with cables and software. Never realised they were so sought after and thought I had paid the going rate. Mine had one careful owner and was pretty much pristine. It even included the original purchase invoice. Just stank of mildew as it had been kept in a dank cupboard for over a decade, so I spent hours stripping it and cleaning it. I have since done the XGA mod on it as the SVGA annoyed me for some reason, although it does not bother me on other PowerBooks. Maybe because it is a larger and heavier notebook than it appears.

You can still pick these up in the UK for reasonable prices on eBay and Gumtree but the sellers in the US are asking crazy money so I do sympathise.

Well, I tried buying a low end G4 PowerBook off my craigslist and instead had to deal with a crazy: http://imgur.com/a/Etelb

To be fair, if I was selling an old laptop and you said that to me I wouldn't have continued with the talking. I'm not having a go at you anything, just saying I've had the same experience when selling on eBay and other places, and the fact is I'm the seller - I set the price. Sure, haggle if you like, get a bit cheeky if you must, haggling is haggling... Just don't "inform" me what the product I'm selling is "actually worth" and then tell me I should sell it to you for that price almost as if you'#re doing me a favour by buying so cheaply. It's really rather irritating.

Just sayin' - though, I think it probably would have ended amicably and not with him coming across as a dick head to you had he not misspelled "mind" as "mine".

While I agree, I feel his responses could have been communicated much better. He throws a temper tantrum. The bigger problem is he will not sell that laptop for the price he wants, especially locally. Also, I only lowballed him because he seemed desperate to get rid of them.

I don't think he was crazy so much as he thought you were cheap and trying to lowball him, hence his refusal to deal with you at all.
Still, he could've been a bit more mature about it. He also could've used his hands and brain to type out the response instead of bashing his head on his keyboard.

While I agree fully that there could have been a more mature way to handle the situation, haggling is best left in person. I learned that when I started negotiating on a vehicle before I went and looked at it. It never hurts to take a look and then you can really assess the value. Hypothetically, the seller accepts $25 and you get there and the battery is banged up and the case is missing screws, well then you say $15 and he is really going to be angry for wasting his time.
