The 42mm green has been out of stock for months in A grade so I jumped at the chance when one went in stock.

Anyway, story time:

I went to my local CEX to return the band they sent (38mm instead of 42mm), it even said 42mm on the box it was in! Anyway the guy behind the counter tried to convince me that all AW bands are the same size just 2 different lengths. After I pointed out it says 38mm on the back he ignored it, I showed him my black band on my watch where it says 42mm, I even took it off my watch and gave it him to hold next to the 38mm band. His reply way "yeah it's different but not 4mm different".

By this point I was getting annoyed and he could tell that so he went to speak to the manager who informed him that there are 2 different sizes. No apology from the guy but he then proceeded to refund me, the wifi wasn't working well in store so I was waiting for about 20 minutes. He then said I can have a voucher as it was taking so long so I said ok that's fine, turns out he couldn't do that either.. Another 20 minutes goes by and he finally gives in and just gave me the cash.

Long story short, I won't be ordering any more straps off CEX, if my blue one actually turns up I'd be surprised if it's even correct.

This is why I was worried about buying anything other than a sport strap from CEX (despite someone else's insistence that CEX could never accept a knockoff or third party) - all it takes is someone not so good at their job to mess it up for you when they're assessing something.

In this case, thinking its the wrong size. Does that mean they didn't even open the box and check the product within?

Well received both my bands today after buying them yesterday morning/afternoon.

Both didn't come in the box unfortunately and both had been used as well unfortunately. The blue one come with both s/m & m/l. Luckily the s/m they didn't used as that's the one I like to use and the red one only come with s/m again lucky for me as I use the s/m band on mine. Both seem fairly new condition but obviously used. Can't say they've been used much as my black band which I've worn since 25th Dec has a lot more wear on it, considering I don't get to wear it at work either so I assume these haven't had much use.

Would probably buy again when/if the leather bands pop up of some other sports bands take my fancy.

They obviously didn't check, the apple watch sport box it came in had a sticker on it saying 42mm green, my invoice said 42mm green and a piece of paper inside the package also stated 42mm green.

What annoyed me most is the guy in store trying to tell me they are all the same width and the length is what is different even AFTER I showed him where it says 38mm on the back and 42mm on the back of my black band.

The fact he said then said "that's not 4mm different" when he compared the two was the last straw for me.

I'm just glad I could walk out of there with the cash in my pocket.

I bought a 1st gen Apple TV from CEX years ago that was priced and marked up as a 40GB but was actually the 160GB model.

I didn't take it back. :D

Just realised the blue band has the gold pin so obviously been sold from the watch and not just the strap. Still doesn't bother me though.

On another note, has anyone had experience with grade C? Don't know whether to risk it for a leather loop band and return it if it's no good.

Ordered a Space Black Link Bracelet from them, it was fake. And a really, really bad fake. Getting a refund was a nightmare - there is no way of proving that what you are claiming to have received is what they actually sent.

By the time I got my refund they were out of stock.

Ah well.

I will never buy from the website ever again, emailed about my blue strap on thursday and no reply so far, that on top of sending me the wrong green band.. I'll stick to in store only where I can fully check the item first.

I'd say agreed except I'm not in the country. I think I'll just steer clear.

My only positive is at least my dad has looked at them for me and swears they look unused, and I have the only bit I actually needed to make a second band (having already got a white sport band from my wife's watch) among those 3 pieces they sent. Even if they never reply, it's just a case of having something different than expected sat in the drawer unused, I guess.

The more I read here, the happier I am that I just picked up a new one from Apple.

It started off with a couple of people getting lucky and then it's turned into a horror show!

What is A. Quality? What is the deal with vouchers? Trying to figure the USA site out.

It isn't defined anywhere... You'd think it meant new and unused but clearly not everyone is finding that

I think the vouchers are that if you sell something, they'll give you more in store credit (vouchers) than they would in cash.

so an apple watch strap is graded as... a phone, ipod or ipad? because it can't be an "other" product because they also have grade C items... hence, it's hard to know what they call each grade.

also, any strap without both S/M and M/L parts could not be grade A without qualifications as to what size it actually is, and clearly it's not just happening to me.

Yeah their grading system seems to be hit and miss. I expected grade A to have both sizes to the strap but apparently not. I did manage to grab myself a grade B black leather loop last night just on the off chance and thought I'd risk it. So I'll get back and show/tell the quality of it(if I get it that is).

Surprising it was fake as all the goods are inspected by the people in store who check them into the system. I guess it the person who did this was not up to speed on Apple Watch then it might have slipped through. I got sent a black link bracelet last week by mistake (I actually bought the silver one), and it was scratch free. Excellent condition in fact...but I had to return it.

I'd agree but when I returned the 38mm they sent me in mistake instead of 42mm the guy in store tried to convince me they are all the same size...

It depends on the staff doesn't it. Some of them are clueless....but then again so are some of the Apple Store staff. Luck of the draw I'm afraid. At least you got that refund. Mine was pretty easy to refund and the cash was back in my account the next day by midday.

Luckily I got the refund in store, they just gave me cash as the system wasn't working properly while I was there. Anyway ordered a red moko sport and green moko sport from Amazon, hopefully they are decent quality at £9.99 each.

My Link Bracelet was a Grade C, it still has a few scratches on the clasp, but other than that....It's in pretty good nick!
I'm not entirely sure on how many removable links there are with a brand new band from Apple, but mine had 4 on each side of the clasp (and i had to remove two so that it fit me perfectly), so i don't know if any are missing or not...
But, i ADORE it, it's one of my favourite bands. It's a very close second to the Milanese loop (which i got from CEX too, it was Grade A with box included) which was the band i wanted at the very start of my Apple Watch journey :3

Didn't go with grade C but brought a grade B in the end.

Great watch face by the way

There are 5 on each side of the clasp.
