Battery issues since update?

This!!! I too am seeing a lot of usage but nothing is showing up in the actual usage stats. Last night I left it off the charger and had 45 mins of usage while I was asleep yet the stats show nothing was using it.
Also as a test I force quit ALL apps.
Still getting horrible battery life despite doing a full restore of 11.0.2 and a full settings reset. Double the drain as before. Cannot get through a single say without a charge and zero calls and light browsing.
Just lost 2% typing this.
Which phone? This is really crazy. I have had my 7+ for a year and my battery life has always been great, until ios 11, although since 11.0.2 its been significantly worse.
This is really discouraging me from upgrading. My iPhone 7 is still running 10.3.3, and I get great battery life with a phone that's one year old. My phone automatically downloaded iOS 11, and it better not install it without my permission. I know I can delete the downloaded file, but I assume it will just download it again. I really don't get this. Apple has always said its products benefit from the fact that it controls both the software and hardware, allowing for improved integration. But this appears to be a real mess.
You can reduce the chances of an unintended update by going to Settings and deleting the downloaded install file. It will eventually refresh, but you can keep deleting it as a speed bump.
I want to say that although I ditched 11.0/11.0.1, it had nothing to do with changes in battery life, which for me were not affected. But lots of people report serious issues, so being cautious makes sense.
Battery on my 7+ has been great.... until iOS 11 came along. Now it's horrible!!

I just contacted Apple support via chat to report 11.0.2 battery life issues, and I would encourage everyone to do the same. Apparently they are aware of the issues and working on it. Here is what they said (I only included the important parts):

I think the best thing to alleviate the issue for now is to turn off your background app refresh so that your apps aren’t using up battery as much even when the device isn’t in use.

Perfectly understandable! I can guarantee that the Apple Engineers are working on it right now; my best advice in the long run will be to keep your device updated so you’ll get the patch at the point that it does get released! Otherwise, I really appreciate your patience!

My 7 plus 128 gb isn't doing so well today. It has been like this for iOS 11 since the betas. I did a restore of iOS 11 after the GM but it didn't help.

And I don’t think this is due to background app refresh. However I took some measures, such as reducing from 15 to 10 minutes the auto lock and disabling background playback for nPlayer and Protube. Could this be happening because the apps are not optimized enough or it’s a flaw in iOS itself? I also noticed Safari is wasting as much battery as these players.

Got up this morning and took my phone off the charger. Got ready for work in 30 minutes, got into the car and my 7 plus was at 50 percent. They really screwed the pooch on this one.
My battery drain is awful on 7 Plus as well. And I did a SET UP AS NEW DEVICE to check if some buggy corrupted setting is doing this. No. It's the same. I lose around 10% every hour without doing much. My phone was at 40% when I came home last night, and it had a very light use during the day. Usually it would have been around 70-75% with that kind of usage.
So definitely something going on. I have background app refresh turned down like always, so that's not the only culprit.

Great battery life on my iPhone 8 plus.
On the other side my wife's iPhone 5S and my son's SE are affected of a little battery drain. Nothing dramatic to be honest: about 10% worse than iOS 10.3.3

Benchmarks are putting your iPhone under heavy work... I wouldn't call 5 hours such a bad result in your case
OK, my iPhone 7 is back on iOS 11.0.2 and I guess it's going to stay there - and again, no battery issues at all. Runtimes appear the same as with 10.3.3. So while there's clearly something wrong with 11.x on some devices, it's not universal.
I would encourage everyone who is having battery life problems to take 5 minutes, go to the apple support site, and chat with an agent, so they can make a record of the issue and complaint. The more complaints made, hopefully the quicker they work on a solution.
The battery life on my 6S+ had been dreadful since updating to iOS 11 (then 11.0.1, 0.2). Last night, my battery ran down to 0% — this after pulling it off the charger at full charge at almost 6 pm when leaving the office!
However, after the phone shut off last night, I charged it overnight and have been using it today. The battery is behaving much as it has in iOS 10, not dropping down several percentage points in an instant, etc. I had tried this with an earlier version of 11 but it didn't work. Maybe worth a shot?

I've found that draining the battery to 0% after major iOS updates can calibrate the battery % reader.
I had this problem going from iOS 9 to 10. My phone dropped 50% in less than a few hours. No amount of restarting, closing apps, etc... would fix it until I ran it down to 0% where it spent 5 hours at 8% then finally shut off. Phone acted normally after that.
I don't have proof but I believe sometimes iOS updates can completely screw with the battery % reader and it isn't a bad thing to drain to 0% to "recalibrate" after a major iOS update if you're having problems.
