(6s) Off the charger at 630am medium use like always at work.. currently 25%. Usually don’t hit that until 9pm or so..usually by the time I go to bed and put the phone on the charger I’ll be around 10% glad this is my last less than 24 hours with the phone. :)

My iPad Air 2 has the same excellent battery life as before.

Give it time. All of the indexed data you had prior to the update will need to be indexed again. It tries to balance the speed of the process with battery use but it will be noticeable. In a couple of days, maybe less, see if the issue is still an issue. It should have done everything by then.
I was wondering about this and other things updating in the background. Experienced it more than a few times with other updates for Watch and iPhone.

My IPP 12.9 S1 has slaughtered the battery the last 2 days since I updated. Hoping it improves again.

It's killing my battery (7s+) here as well. I'm usually at 55% around 5pm and it's down to 33%......
What gives? Is this the trick to make me upgrade?

Is this a common problem with every new Ios?
Battery on the 6s+ is double drainage.
Don’t remember i ever felt it on the 10.

Actually i saw the battery suddenly drops 3-4 digits in 10 seconds and then stops.
Anyone noticed that??
Something has to be fixed asap!

My 5S was doing this.

I suspect it is a botched in-place upgrade - I initially went from iOS10 to iOS11, and last night did the following:

DFU restore to iOS11 > Restore from backup > Reset all Settings > then set up everything as it was.

Outside of setting up as new (too much of a pain to lose everything), this is about as "clean" as it gets.

Will test later on if I have the same issues - but right now I have 92% battery, with 55 minutes of real usage. I charge my iPhone fully before bed and use it before sleeping, so it's a good indicator when I wake up 7-8 hours later to see if anything is amiss. Usually the first 10% lasts 50-60 minutes, so waking up to 90%+ battery is a good sign for me.

Yep. The battery issue was picked up during the GM and affected all users. I'm surprised it made it to public release, because everyone I know who is now running iOS 11 is having the same problem. The bug also includes Low Power Mode having absolutely no effect on battery life preservation.

The problem I have since the beta program is if I'm doing some very simple thing like sharing a picture on Facebook and write a status, my phone become very hot and the battery can lose 10-14% in just 5 minutes. I dont know if its iOS 11 related but I'm considering going to check my battery health in an Apple Store next week.

I have iPhone 7+, 128GB
Since I installed it as GM I noticed the following:
- When not using the phone battery is pretty much the same as iOS10
- When using Messages especially battery drains much faster
- AppStore is using also a lot of battery power
- Safari is the third battery consumer app

Overall - iOS 11 to me, feels like it's draining battery much more than previous iOS 10.

But is this usually the case on first release?
Do they fix it in next update?

Big problem for me on my 6s! After 30 mins of usage I went from 93% to 68% just now. And when the phone is on the home screen something is still processing. The little circle next to the WiFi signal just keeps spinning! Didn’t happen with 10.3.3. Not good.

It's a shame, because iOS11 does feel very nice - smooth, looks nice, etc. However, it is just draining for no good reason! I'll give it a day extra, but I doubt it'll help - iOS10 works right out the box without issues.

Currently at 73% with 1 hour and 47 minute usage...

Not sure if I am just scrutinising it way more than usual though. Will see.

Ive iphone 6 64gb, with ios11 i took my phone off the charger about 8:30am at 100%, its now 12:54pm, i've made 1 phone call which was 45 seconds long and sent 12 text messages, my battery is on 28%, so its not looking too good for my battery life

My battery life on iOS 11 on my 6S is so sporadic. I was at 90% and updated 11 apps. After the 5 minutes of updating apps I’m at 78%. Major battery drain issues so far.

My phone also gets warm to the touch now.

My 6S Plus definitely has worse battery on iOS 11. I went from 100% to 73% in 30 minutes just reading Apple News articles.

I have a 7 Plus and have had major battery drain since the update. I always do a shut down and re power right after a install and that typically solves the issue but iOS 11 is for sure killing my battery bad. I typically have 30-40% at night when I go to bed, since updating, I am at 30% before I even get home and that is with no different use.

Thousands and thousands sign up to "beta test" the iOS. How many actually are reporting bugs vs how many just wanna get their hands on it before everyone else? Sounds like we need to dump much of the beta program and keep only the folks who actually report X items over X period.

Perhaps this MASSIVE battery drain issue could have been rectified prior to release with real beta testers...

Now I lose almost 50% battery life on my 6s+ in less than two hours coming from a full charge.

I've never complained about battery life after an update on an iPhone before and I've had them since the 3GS.

Today I was up around 8am, went to classes, drove to the gym and was listening to music at around 1pm. My phone gave me a 20% warning, then switched off, so I turned it on and it was at 10%, then it turned itself off again.

This is insane, this is my same Friday routine, my phone was on about 35% when I finished classes and usually its between 70-80%. iOS 11 has murdered my battery life, this isn't a 'oh maybe its reduced battery life' no my phone's battery feels so bad it's either faulty or something is wrong with iOS 11.

I have Bluetooth, LTE (4G) and WiFi turned on but always managed to get a full days use out of it (well nearly). Now my battery life is appaulling. Is this related to post update indexing and changes or something?

I definitely get the frustration there. However, I was on the public beta, and throughout a half cycle reported perhaps as many as 40 bugs/visual glitches/battery issues. I often wonder how many reports are submitted, but the beta wikis for each release seem promising from a tester’s perspective.

The main issue I think is Apple’s level of engagement when it comes to feedback. From what I’ve submitted, I would say I’ve only received follow up to maybe 10% of submissions. I know they sort through a lot, but that can be a bit disheartening. Hopefully 11.0.1 shows they were listening closely to those reports.

I've been wondering about this. Nothing scientific, but I usually leave for work with 100%, then I get in my truck and drive to work (I have Carplay in a Ford F-250, it fast charges the phone). I'm always at 100% when I arrive, then I'm there for 4+ hours (on WiFi, mostly ignoring my phone), I go to lunch (again Carplay/charging), back to work for another 4+ hours, and then home. Under 10.3 I rarely ever went below 70%, unless I really used my phone. Under 11 I've been getting home with 30-35% battery. That's pretty drastic, considering I haven't altered my usage patterns. I'll definitely watch it closer now.

Ridiculous that this can make it into an official release.

I'm a moderate user and usually finish the day on around 30-40%. Can't get past 5pm now without the phone shutting down due to flat battery.

There better be a fix coming for this quick time.

I'm DFU restoring to iOS10.3.3 for now... Maybe battery will get fixed, because iOS11 is pretty nice, but the battery is utterly awful
