How's your iOS 11 battery life?

  • Same as before, pretty good

  • Seems worse

  • Much worse

  • Better than before

Indexing would explain short term excessive battery drain. It has been days now since the update and I continue to see greatly reduced battery performance.

iPhone 6S Plus.

On my SE it's a mess too. I really love iOS 11, but i have to load my battery twice a day now.

So i downgrade to 10 again until they fix it or even stay with it if they don't.

Sad, because iOS 11 was really good.

i have an iPhone 7 Plus and my battery life has gotten so much work.

I have attached a pic. Anyone else with this issue.

My battery life has dropped as well. But thats because every battery saving setting i have implemented in ios 10.3.3, was reverted back to default in ios 11.

YMMV.

Installing a large OS update over previous OS is prone to having bugs and unforeseen issues.

Same for me. Gonna take me a while to get my power saving features back to how I had them in iOS 10.

i put back my battery tweaking but i have a X2 drainage at least.
and did any of you notice drops of 3-4 % in a matter of seconds?
something definitely not right with the 11 :/

Nope, i havent seen anything like that in my iphone 6s plus or 2017 ipad.

As i said before, large OS updates are prone to verious bugs. Its best to download a copy of ios 11 to your pc and install it fresh through itunes.

i will never install Itunes again.. hated every second of it.
but i need to know whether it's a bug that will be fixed in the next update or not.
i never had these problems so i don't wanna find out it won't be fixed.

1. No idea if it will be fixed, because Apple might think or find no evidence that its a bug that needs a patch.
2. You might have no choice but to use itunes, because the bug cant be resolved with an update.
3 you can always delete itunes.
4 its not a bug for everyone, thus its a clear indication that this specific bug has manifested during OTA.

I have been having major battery issues as well. I’m usually at over 50% at the end of the work day. I’ve been coming home at around 30% now, sometimes as low as 5%. I’m on a 7+. What’s the best way to downgrade back down to iOS 10 without losing all my pictures, apps...etc?

I have my iPhone set up through iCloud. ICloud phot libraries is activated along with every other iCloud option. Thus, I should be good to just download the ipsw, install fresh on my iPhone and then log into iCloud and everything will load back into my phone, correct?

Regular usage seems fine, but ARKit apps literally drain half of my battery after 5 minutes. This is with battery save turned on.

I've lost 30% battery life per day since installing iOS11. I'm a property manager. Monday and Friday mornings I have the exact same property visit route. When I leave the house I'm at 100% (charge overnight). I turn on Waze and go about my day. I'm at my office, after the site visits, by 12pm or 1pm. Normally my iPhone 7 Plus is at 60-65% (Waze, check email, a few texts, maybe a call or two). Today it was at 35%. I've been doing this route/day for almost ten years, I know where my battery should be at.

60-65% to 35%? That's a serious difference.

All it said there was safari 30 percent. No way that would kill battery that fast

Huh? I noticed a fast drain yesterday when playing this AR game, so today I was at 80% with no other apps open, and Low Power Mode turned on. After about 5 or 6 minutes of playing this game, my battery dropped to 45% and continued to drop with the homescreen on and the app running in the background, until I forced it to quit.

I did my update through iTunes, but I just did the normal restore instead of the clean install. If I back it up when I get home again and then do a clean install and restore from today's backup, will that help? Or did restoring from my backup initially keep any possible issues that it may have caused from being able to be fixed?

My 5S was doing this.

I suspect it is a botched in-place upgrade - I initially went from iOS10 to iOS11, and last night did the following:

DFU restore to iOS11 > Restore from backup > Reset all Settings > then set up everything as it was.

Outside of setting up as new (too much of a pain to lose everything), this is about as "clean" as it gets.

Will test later on if I have the same issues - but right now I have 92% battery, with 55 minutes of real usage. I charge my iPhone fully before bed and use it before sleeping, so it's a good indicator when I wake up 7-8 hours later to see if anything is amiss. Usually the first 10% lasts 50-60 minutes, so waking up to 90%+ battery is a good sign for me.

It has only been a couple of days but had to set up as new via iTunes for my 7+ (has a screen freeze issue). Since then my phone is under 50% by lunch. Usually I am around 65-70 at lunch. Back to the sip charge as I can. Hoping it is just a "setup as new" issue and will improve.

My Pro 12 v2 is burning through battery much faster. I could charge and go 2-3 days. Around 40% by the end of the first day now.

iMini4 is about the same. Generally read on it.

Thousands and thousands sign up to "beta test" the iOS. How many actually are reporting bugs vs how many just wanna get their hands on it before everyone else? Sounds like we need to dump much of the beta program and keep only the folks who actually report X items over X period.

Perhaps this MASSIVE battery drain issue could have been rectified prior to release with real beta testers...

Now I lose almost 50% battery life on my 6s+ in less than two hours coming from a full charge.

Many don't report battery issues during beta because beta OS has tracing enabled which sends extra data to Apple and often has a detrimental affect on battery life. It usually isn't until the GM that you can see and by then it is too late.

I’ve had iOS 11 installed for just over two days now. Sadly, battery life is still poor...even in Low Power Mode.

For some reason, “Safari Audio” is showing at the top of the Battery Usage list. What is this exactly? I haven’t played any audio in Safari.

has anyone else noticed this?

Yesterday my battery was at 41% on the Plus by 4pm.. this phone has never reached 50% at that time unless I was on it the whole time.

My phone right now is at 81% and it’s been used for only 20 min.

My phone usually at this time is at 95-96%.

My iPhone 7 totally died on me overnight after loading iOS 11. Went from 90% to zero. I was shopping and my Apple Watch lost contact to my iPhone. iPhones battery was dead. Called Apple and Audio Seri used 99% of my battery. Rebooted phone and reset Seri, Apple service is to contact me tomorrow to see if battery is OK. My iPad Pro dropper 35% overnight, but couldn’t ID a problem, I rebooted the iPad and will monitor overnight. I usually go 2-3 days between iPad charges with heavy use.
