How's your iOS 11 battery life?

  • Same as before, pretty good

  • Seems worse

  • Much worse

  • Better than before

There is definitely something wrong with iOS11 on the 5S.

I gave it another try today - completely fresh DFU install, set up as new rather than restore, left on charge all night so nobody can pretend it needs more time to "index" (not that that's actually a thing...) - it's just losing % for no reason. Me and my wife used our phones roughly the same today as we were out shopping - about 2-3 hours of usage total each. Mine is 5%, her's is 60% - she has a 5S on 10.3.3 still.

Laughable battery life.

PS - it's actually real http://bgr.com/2017/09/22/ios-11-battery-drain-iphone-ipad-apple/

Issues here too. I use tunein in the morning during my workout and waze with it going into work...usually puts me at like 80 or 70percent. I noticed if I use messages or swiping in dating apps I’m suddenly at 20percent...something is off.

anyone on ip6s + updated? how's the batt life?

Major drainage in iOS 11 for me.

My 6S plus has also suffered the battery issues, but seems to have stabilised somewhat today after 48 hours.

has not for me its the worst update i have ever had I will now be waiting until the .001/2 comes out

I am starting to feel apple deliberately release knowing the guinea pigs will just fall in line and this unfortunately will be my last apple device

Please, everyone that had this problem, kindly file a bug report here:
https://bugreport.apple.com/

And post the link to this thread. Perhaps if more people complain about it they will do something to fix it quickly.

Bug report link won’t allow me or the wife to log in - Apple ID not recognised. Also it’s worth adding that such charging issues where reported during the Beta according to their forums

Definitely slightly worse battery life on my 7, but where I've really noticed it is on my iPad Air 2.

Under iOS10, with my daily usage it would drop to about 80%. With iOS11 installed, it's dropping to around 60%.

Absolutely terrible. It’s Saturday. The phone was charging and was at 100% around 1:30PM. I made a call, about 10 minutes, send a few text messages and checked to see what the weather is like outside. 15 minutes of usage total, at best. Rest of the time the phone was idle.

Its now about 5:00PM and I am down to 58%. It’s been days since update. I would expect everything to work fine by now.

This is not right. Apple should address this issue immediately.

Just reinstall iOS 11 again. Something isn’t right with your install. My battery life isn’t affected to those extremes.
[doublepost=1506207075][/doublepost]And FWIW, that is how Apple would address it if you were to bring it in. Reinstall the iOS first...

My 8 has been off the charger since 645 est I got home at 1630 been heavy usage since at 50%.. I’m actually trying to drain the battery lol.

I had battery issue on all betas and also on GM for first few days, which seem to get better now from my last 2/3 days. No setting was changed apart from the Adblocker app ( don’t think it is due to that app but just normal index process).
7+

I had rather bad heating issues and battery drainage on my iP6S on iOS11, definitely lasted less than it did on 10.3.3. Unfortunately I don’t have any numbers or data to show, purely anecdotal - but I wasn’t using my phone any differently.

For example, I used it at the gym - 25% battery life going in. Connected to headphones via Bluetooth, playing a locally-saved playlist on Spotify, and screen always on (to see my HIIT timer) killed my phone in an hour, whereas that would have cause maybe a 10% decrease with 10.3.3

This drainage was consistent throughout the week, so I don’t think indexing was the culprit. I’m giving the phone to my dad since I upgraded to an iP8+, but I’ll be restoring it to 10.3.3 and installing the Apple TV profile so that it doesn’t prompt for an update.

That's pretty good. Do you have the Facebook app installed?

Did you turn off any location services?

I use safari for twitter and Facebook it's seemed to help vs other phones I have had using the apps

Yeah, but how much of that is phantom usage from a runaway process... utterly useless picture, as there is no indication of how much you've actually used your phone (i.e. with the screen on)

Are you suggesting I faked usuage to impress internet people ?

No, I am telling you 100% that some broken iCloud process (most likely) is churning away and adding hours of "usage" onto the statistics.

Sure but the 40 hours total is 100% true and my usage was ordinary so that's good for me

I updated my iPhone 7 to iOS11 on the 20th Sep. Battery life took a very obvious hit. It was laughable. It would drop like 5-6% just sitting in my pocket as I walked to the subway, two blocks from my apartment.

After 4 days, it seems to be back to normal, which is to say, not that great to begin with but manageable.

Basically only about 1.5 hours total before battery hits 0% on iOS 11? And only about 4 hours with iOS 10 total? Doesn't really make much sense.

Where is this from? What device? Based on how much data?

It is youtube, I am having the same problem, it's constantly using battery in the background. look at the screenshot it had background activity for youtube. My air 2 was showing 50 hours usage yesterday from youtube in the background.

My 6+ and Air 2 have got much worse battery life in iOS11.

I have had terrible battery life since updating to iOS11. They strange thing is that I have been on all the betas which never had this horrible battery life.
My phone gets noticeably hotter generally when I use my phone. I really hope Apple fixes this ASAP.
Do you guys experience your iPhone getting much more warm than usually??

I updated a couple of days ago, iPhone 5s, I noticed a little more drain on the first 2 days, but last night every time I went into an App, the phone was burning up and the battery drained hard. I got the 20 % warning, so I plugged it into my computer, and it was still draining. Went down to 15%, so I killed all the apps that were running, dropped to 5%, all while still plugged in. Finally, I shut the phone down, and it charged back to 100% overnight.

It's crazy that it still dropped while plugged in...

We'll see how today goes... I did file a bug report though...

Massive drain on battery on my 6S Plus.

I can see the battery percentage visibly ticking down.

At its worst when using an app (esp Tapatalk which I use to browse and post in this forum). Battery gone from 60% to 28% with 15 mins of Tapatalk browsing and posting this message. Actually make that 22% - it’s just dropped another six percentage points while typing out the previous sentence.

Something def not right and I’ll be downgrading to 10.3.3 very soon.
