2 days in and battery life seems a lot better today, 85% remaining, almost 2 hours usage, this is more like it, hopefully it stays this way.

Same issue here. M1 MBP 16GB 1TB SSD running MacOS 11.2.3. Noticeable battery drain after the latest update. Feels like the old Intel Macs. Kind of heartbreaking after the last few months' love affair with this machine.

Thanks god it’s not only me, realized it’s a bit more steady today, hopefully the next update fixes this garbage, was loving the legendary M1 Mac battery life previously, wouldn’t charge my mac for 8-11 days.

The kinds of people who gaslight you when you say you've had a problem like this are the kinds of people who think the company couldn't possibly do anything wrong, ever. Don't listen to them!

Usually I would charge on, say, a Friday night and not need a charge till Monday. Now I can't rely on it for more than a full day.

Meaning, I used to be able to use it one day and then be able to casually take it out on the 2nd day without even checking the charge level. Not anymore.

First world problem, sure. But a noticeable change since the last update.

Agree, hopefully someone has reported this bug to apple.

Most of that "time on battery" it was sleeping. Active use about 40-50 mins of browsing the web including maybe 20 mins of streaming video.

[Edit: Writing this comment brought it down to 93%.]

Something definitely ain’t right, 7 hours remaining from 94% battery, doesn’t add up ?

Yeah and that may or may not be an accurate estimate. I used to do a bunch of stuff and be surprised at how much battery was remaining. Now it's like my iPhone 8; runs down 1% every time I check. It just dropped to 92% in the last minute or 2. I'm literally getting Intel Mac battery life out of this thing now.

Thinking the same thing when it started happening to me. Hopefully the next Big Sur update is just around the corner.

Just reported it to Apple. Question: do you use Signal on your Mac? Only thing I can think of is that it wasn't liking the new OS update. If you also use Signal, we may have a culprit...

Nah don’t use signal, maybe try a full charge without using signal and see how you go.

Battery life is looking good again, 75% battery left approaching 3 hours usage, hopefully it stays this way.

What’s your total usage? how high is your screen brightness? What apps are you using?
To be clear, nothing has changed except for the new OS update. Same usage as before, brightness varies between full during the day to 1 bar at night. Apps, mostly just Safari. I notice kernel_task and WindowServer are the processes consuming most of the CPU's resources. I'd also note that I'd never felt this laptop get warm before 11.2.3. Now it runs slightly warm.

I'd say I'm getting maybe 6-7 hours out of a charge, which is maybe half or a bit more than half of what I used to before the OS update!

Reckon having your brightness set to max might be causing your battery drain, mine is better this week, 50% left over 4 hours usage, try lowering your brightness and see how you go on your next full charge.

Hopefully the next Big Sur update can improve battery life.

Appreciate the thought, but again, nothing has changed except for installing 11.2.3! I can't use my computer outdoors in the daytime on much less than full brightness, so it is what it is.

What I'm saying is, with my current usage, including full brightness much of the time, I was getting far more battery life out of this laptop prior to the update. When you say you've "fixed" the problem, do you mean to say that you've reduced your usage/brightness so that you get more time per charge? Would love to hear your experience.

Brightness is the same as before, 5-6 bars and lower sometimes, haven’t done anything new, seems like it settled on its own, going off what you’re saying, seems like 11.2.3 is the problem. ?

26% left, around 5h40m usage. Full charge on Sunday.

I am also having this issue since upgrading to 11.2.3. I haven't changed my use case and I'm getting roughly similar battery times as you LFC2020.

Very frustrating and at a loss as to what is causing it.
