Bent ipad. UNACCEPTABLE

Is it for sure bent or just look weird from that angle?

You’ve observed from multiple angles?

I swear in the right light my 7Plus look bent, but never actually was.


Not blaming you, but just curious, has it been laying on ASK attached / in a case / in a book bag

Do you hold it from one corner with one hand, etc?

can you explain your general usage. Though I’m not accusing, I’m sure you’ve been ‘babying’ it

Is this an 11 or 12.9

To. Be honest I Find it hard to sell if one is bent or not. Most of the pics i’ve Seen aren’t noticeable unless you look from every angle. I guess it depends how many times you look at it and how much it bothers you
 
We want them thin.
We want them light.
We want them durable.

We can’t have it all ways.

It makes perfect sense that something so thin and light, with a massive surface, would bend with some pressure applied to it. I’m not defending Apple and this makes me nervous, but what is everyone willing to sacrfice? Lightness? Thinness? Durability? I’m not sure I can answer this myself.

To the OP - I’m sorry that. Really sucks. Bring it to the Apple store and be nice. They will help you.

There is a topic here where a lot of users (including myself) has the same issue, someone reported for the non LTE version as well.
For now I will keep mine, screen seems perfect and I will not try the lottery since lots of iPad seem to present this curve on top and bottom.

Yes we can. Magnesium or titanium
And if they are too cheap for that then don’t go above 10 inches. Greedy crap

There are always going to be bent iPhones and iPads so I’m never surprised by these threads but I went to look at the new iPads when I was out shopping yesterday and I was shocked at how fragile they’ve become. I could very easily flex it in different ways distorting the screen. I was excited to update my original iPad Pro but now I’m not so sure. I take care of my devices but I can see myself in OP’s position much more so now than in the past.

I have had 6 iPhones, 2 iPad Pros, 3 non Pro larger iPads and 2 minis and known have ever been bent. I work on a set with literally 50 iPads in use every day, no bent ones. I know dozens of folks with scads of apple products and no bent devices. I feel pretty confident that this is NOT some design issue no matter how much you think you ‘baby’ your stuff.
And how exactly was it bent from the factory and you didn’t notice it for over two weeks? If you carry it everywhere and not in a bag, I’d think you’d notice something like that right away.
Yeah apple will probably swap it this one time just to shut you up but that’s all it will be.

I’m also curious. After looking at the photo, I looked at my 12.9” (bought 2 days ago) and honestly I kind of see a very subtle curve from any side. Is it an optical trick? Is it OCD? Is it already bending? Honestly I don’t know.

I see a very small bend in mine as well. Not sure what could have caused it as my unit has never had any pressure applied to it outside of holding it up and using the on-screen keyboard. My return period is in January due to the holiday season. I’ll see if I want to keep it within the next month. If it stays the same I’ll keep it. If I gets worse I’ll return it.
 
By the way I think a lot (every?) new Pros have this slight curve on top and bottom.
I still yet have to see one without, or even a picture.

I think those that have bend i’m Not sure putting it in a sleeve would make much difference either as I doubt those here who use them treat them badly or try to bend them.
 
I haven’t checked mine in part because I haven’t noticed any deterioration in function of my iPad.

These posts are getting me curious though. In my garage workshop I have a large grade A granite surface plate that is used by machinists as a reference surface to check for flatness in objects. I use it to ensure flatness on some of my tool surfaces.

I don’t want to use this on the iPad because I know it will show that my iPad is definitely NOT flat. The issue is that I don’t know what is considered the acceptable tolerance set by Apple and its manufacturers for flatness.

As long as I don’t see a deterioration in function, I will probably not check its degree of flatness.

They could make them out of titanium and give us all three - though that would make them even more expensive ;)

I did the same at University on a flat table with gyroscopes that’s used to calibrate Lazers. So it’s flat and stays flat and level. And my 11” Pro is dead flat but the camera bump has to dangle over the edge.
Also it’s been in a protected Folio case which has a rigid back. And a Stiff padded sleeve if I need to travel with it. So double protection,
Sadly 12.9” and LTE model both are weaker due to those extra antenna weak points in the case.

The 12.9” is definitely far more flexible than the 11”.

I was at the Apple store this weekend and while purchasing gifts mentioned the bent iPad complaints to the salesperson. He told me to go and try and bend the iPads at the store! I was surprised but he told me to try really hard!

So I grabbed the 12.9” and it bent very easily, but it would relax back into its former “flat” state. I didn’t want to break it but knew that it wouldn’t be difficult. The 11” iPad, however, would not bend noticeably with the same level of force I used on the 12.9”.

The 11” most definitely is more rigid. It felt solid compared to the 12.9”.
