LOL the Apple Store guy telling you to bend the iPad in the store

My wife and I bought 4 MacBook Pro 13” for our kids that day. I asked the same salesperson if the anodized space gray scratches easily on the MacBooks since these will be used by kids. He wore a ring and proceeded to try really hard to scratch the macbook’s gray surface! He tried so hard that he ended up scratching his ring, which looked like it was probably silver vs platinum.

I don’t know about non-LTE iPads but the bend comes from the part where the antenna crosses over the back to the front. I don’t know if it was already like this when I got it which would mean it’s part of the production process. Also, I’m not sure if it’s actually bent or is an illusion. The part where the antenna crosses is actually bent out further than the device itself. It is, ever so slightly, the thickest point on the iPad when looking down.

But, I’m not sure it’s actually bent (though it LOOKS like it is). I don’t know how to measure the “angle”.

I just don’t understand these people who are “sticklers for perfection” take out an iPad, inspect it, put it in a case, then suddenly notice “hey it’s bent”

I had my in the folio which I put in at the store, then swapped to the Otterbox which I also swapped at the store. I think you maybe accidentally sat on it or so and now yelling about Apple sucks. I’m just curious how you missed it right out of the box

Mine appears slightly bent when looking at it like in the pic, right where the LTE line is. Im convinced it’s an optical illusion though as I put it on a flat surface and it was completely straight. I also got my missus (who’s ready to section me) to look at it at that angle and she said it’s completley straight lol

I’m also curious. After looking at the photo, I looked at my 12.9” (bought 2 days ago) and honestly I kind of see a very subtle curve from any side. Is it an optical trick? Is it OCD? Is it already bending? Honestly I don’t know.

One of those things if you obsess over it you will find ways to think it’s bent when it’s not.

As an OCD person it’s one thing I don’t want to happen

Very minor bend in my 11" LTE. But I wouldn't have noticed if not for this thread.

But, these are toys, and nothing is perfect. My former iPhone X "creaked" when you applied pressure, my 1-day-old MacBook Pro has a tiny nick (probably from me), and my new car has some light marks!

Picture in link below!! F Apple
I’ve treated this thing like a baby, never in a bag, carried everywhere, and keyboard case from day 1. Apple, this is ********. And I just saw it and it’s past 14 days now.
What can I do? See picture, it’s bent right at the antenna line from the factory.

Looks like you bent it and want to blame Apple. Quit trying to ruin it for the rest of us who just want thin tech. Seriously.

I’d take it to your nearest Apple Store if you can. They may be interested in exchanging in order to use it for a case study. They did this for me on an iPad keyboard case. Good luck!

So you are concluding that the OP is mistaken or a liar?

I do believe they can't admit it they may have caused it without them knowing. But it doesn't come that way. The new iPad Pro's are much weaker, so it won't take much to bend them.

Doesn’t take much to bend them, that would include rattling around in the box, as it’s handled who knows how badly on its trip to you?! Or, someone, or something leaning/putting pressure on the middle of the box, putting pressure on the center of the screen of the device, but not leaving evidence on the packing material?!

You’ve been lucky to never receive a damaged product from a manufacturer. I’ve had it happen numerous times. Happened last week with a coffee maker leaking coffee all over my counter from a defective device inside of it. So, don’t put Apple too far up on that pedestal, you know what they say about the fall, the higher the pedestal.

Oh please quit with that bs. The iPad can’t move around in the box at all. The box would be obviously smashed or bent if then he iPad got bent. All the iPads are checked before being put in those boxes.

Don’t you “oh please me.” You will defend Apple no matter what. In your mind they can do no wrong. No one, including Apple, is perfect.

Have you ever shaken an unopened iPad? It rattles. There is room for it to move around in there. There is not a large space between the lid of the box and the screen of the iPad. Pack yours back up and see if you can’t press in the middle of the box and have it touch the screen without damaging the box. Oh, wait, you won’t do that, because it might damage your perfect view of Apple.

I own tens of thousands of shares of Apple in my stock portfolio, so I want them to succeed, and I own dozens of their products, but perfect they are not! It is in the realm of reality that some of these iPads are arriving damaged, fresh out of the box, without user involvement.
