After the price hike on the new phones this is the follow-up , good maybe apple can finally wake up and take a huge loss and next year they can appreciate their long time customers and give them the pre Tim Cook quality.

But for this GEN , they can keep it.
The quality in general is still there though. Just the prices are getting too high.

How is it planned obsolescence? There's no indication that these bends will in any way cause malfunction if handled like any 1300$ piece of electronic equipment should be handled.
I bet my ass that these iPads will last much longer than the first gen iPad did (that was built incredibly sturdy by the way).

I still have two original iPads working great as digital picture frames. They're way too slow for internet browsing, and they can no longer sign into the App Store to update software, but they still "work." I expect to get a longer working life out of my new iPad Pro.

Picture in link below!! F Apple
I’ve treated this thing like a baby, never in a bag, carried everywhere, and keyboard case from day 1. Apple, this is ********. And I just saw it and it’s past 14 days now.
What can I do? See picture, it’s bent right at the antenna line from the factory.

My CHRISTmas iPAD 12.9 was straight as an arrow! 1TB SSD/6MB RAM, it's a SPEED DEAMON . BEST iPad I have ever !had

I've had my 11 LTE since launch. Looking at it now it exhibits a very, very, very slight bend. It would be very difficult to see if you weren't looking for it right down the edge. When laid flat on its screen it is "flat" on the table but you can push a corner and get a slight bit of movement, but it isn't like a corner is "coming up off" the table or something.

i'm pretty picky and i'm ok with this EXCEPT FOR ONE BIG ISSUE... I Ebay ALL my Apple stuff because I typically upgrade far more often than most, usually almost every generation for iPads and iPhones. It would be difficult for me to list this iPad as perfect when it isn't and the moment I say anything about "slight bend" there goes a ton of its value for sure. It's certainly a bummer.

I'm 150% sure it was NEVER exposed to even the slightest pressures so I'm sure this was present the day I took it out of the box.

Still nothing from apple officially on this? just waiting till it goes away.

Apple already commented on the manufacturing concerns and what causes the bending. What is it that ‘You’re waiting to go away’? Not everyone has a bent iPad either, it’s likely a very small demographic affected by this.

Wasn't this only an email to one person?
and didn't they just say... yea nothing wrong don't worry about it?

I don't really see one email, from one guy, as any form of valid info on their position in relation to selling dodgy products, and poor after sales care be it a small batch or large.

They never said ‘not to worry about it’, they said it was ‘normal’ due to the cooling with the aluminum. Also, back to my original question for you, what else are you expecting them to say about the iPad? They made their statement regarding what causes it. I mean, Dan Riccio commented on it direct from Apple, they reached out to one tech site, they’re not going to address each tech site individually, when their explanation will remain the same.

OK? So what you’re saying is, you don’t believe Dan Riccio’s explanation about the bending, then that’s your prerogative. But Apple reached out and did explain what they said is causing the bending, rather you choose to believe it or not, is your choice.

Also, if you don’t choose to believe what Apple is saying, why would you want another explanation from them in addition? That doesn’t really make any sense.

No, I am only saying that an email to one customer from some employee offering a poor excuse for non premium QA on a premium price point, is not what I call an official statement.

Not a verge report,

Offering poor excuses and no service and support may be okay from a $100 item, but for those investing in apple, I would expect such a poor excuse from a head of whatever to be settled with an official statement to clarify the now to be acceptable poor quality of manufacturing process.

But here is the difference in your post, it’s _not_ an excuse, it’s an explanation to the situation. An excuse is something that someone won’t own up to something that they’re responsible for, Apple is saying that did acknowledge the bending, and that they may or may not have an exchange available in store for the customer, but the reality is, it’s rather you choose to support Apple based off the situation. Not everybody has a bent iPad, and it’s likely a very small minority/fraction of people that actually do.

I’m not defending Apple necessarily about the bending, because I do understand frustrations for those who are confused by Apple’s explanation, but you can’t call it an ‘excuse’, when in fact, it’s not, as they did admit to it, it’s just you don’t agree with their quality control in this situation.

I just had a closer look at mine which has been sitting on a desk since I unpacked it.

I agree, this is not acceptable.

The Apple Care rep didn't sound the least bit surprised, apologized energetically and facilitated the replacement without any further questioning.

I’m going to have to check mine tomorrow when I am a bit more awake, I’ve had mine for a few days now and don’t want to miss the return policy. I’d be pretty upset if they tried to swap it out with a refurb, gotta make that 2 weeks!
