Don't mean to be that guy, but I walked into my local Verizon store on launch day (there were 3 people in line at 8:00 am). Walked out with an aluminum SB. Wife took that one and I found a gold aluminum at a Best Buy 1 hour from me. Ordered it and walked out with it in 2 minutes.

Well, you are that guy. You didn't pre-order from Best Buy so your input is a waste of space in this thread. I think everyone is well aware that there were devices at various locations on launch day for walk-ins but some people had to work so they chose to pre-order.

Just an update to those that still haven’t had any status changes, I was one who ordered on the 16th for store pickup, it was delayed, I changed it to get shipped to me on the 23rd, got my tracking number this morning, and they’re shipping it via UPS Next Day Air. So those that are frustrated and still waiting, they may be trying to ship them all with one day to make up for some time

I called again today and talked to someone who said I was 9th on a waiting list (?) and that maybe they’d have inventory October 8th or 12th (???) and then a supervisor who literally insinuated that my frustration was a “culture difference” because “on the west coast they’re more chill about waiting for preorders.” (?!?!?!?) Best Buy is really winning.

Interesting. Yes this is another black eye for Best Buy

Weird. I switched it to shipping and now it says it will be here 9/28. Why couldn't they just have shipped it to the store?

I’m almost tempted to order another watch and see if it miraculously ships. I did this with the iPhone 7plus in the highly sought after jet black finish. It shipped the next day while others waited months.
[doublepost=1537927187][/doublepost]Looks like on bestbuy.com you can’t even add to cart and order the 42mm Space grey SS model anymore

I had ordered another one on Sunday when my original pre order went from order placed to delay. The new one shipped ASAP and is on its way tomorrow. Then I get a text yesterday the original was shipped overnight via fedex. FedEx tracking shows arrival today by 5pm. Fail. No updated tracking just still shipped. Smh.

That's what I wondered.

"Order today and receive it in 2 days.
Want it faster? Do in-store pickup in 5 days."

Got mine finally, arrived yesterday (had it switched from pickup to ship and it went out right away).

I ordered a SBSS on the 14th, and got a confirmation email at 3:16am. There was no guaranteed date like some have seen. All I see is "we will let you know when it ships". I haven't seen any movement. Has anyone seen movement on SBSS? I called and they said there is nothing wrong with the order. I would like to know if others who ordered after me received theirs, specifically SBSS. I may just order through apple, at least I will have it within the next month..

I ordered my SBSS on the 14th around 8:30am. They shipped via FedEx it on Friday of last week and I received it Monday.

The original that was expected yesterday now shows delivery pending no date set. What an absolute **** show. I’m almost over the excitement and about to say screw it and be done. Reading all the poor battery life posts also doesn’t help.

Battery life is fine. It's always been a "charge at least every other day" device and it still is.

Just an FYI, I just checked my local Best Buy and I can order a 44mm space gray GPS for pickup on Friday. Not sure which model you seek but it'd be worth checking local stock regularly.

This is what i don’t understand as it pertains to how Best Buy fulfills order. It seems like the earlier the order the longer the delay, in some cases

So for my aluminum 44 w sport, it went to "shipping delayed" even though there was a tracking number that only reflected a label was printed. Then last night I get this text:

>>Best Buy Order Status: Your order has shipped! To track order BBY01-XXXXX, visit http://xxxxxx or check e-mail.<<

I go to track it on FedEx and it still just says "label created". To make matters worse, BB.com says Shipped! and then "Get it by Thu, October 25"... WHA???

Maybe they sent a raven

So, on a whim...

Ordered two watches for wife and I at 6 am on 9/14 from Apple. I fully expected there to be a delay; I slept in. Wife's had an earlier estimated shipping date than mine (and actually arrived on Monday). My silver 44 aluminum will be in sometime in Mid-October.

But..on 9/20...on Reddit..someone had posted they ordered that day and their local Best Buy would have in store delivery on 9/21. Fascinating! Hey, I might look into this. Went to Bestbuy, picked my local store, and sure enough...had stock and could pick up on 9/21. I ordered a black 44 aluminum sports band, received confirmation from credit card for charge, etc.

Best Buy emails me and tells me order went through and to await email saying when I could pick up watch. Groovy.

Friday 9/21...no email. By late afternoon, I thought I would stop by and just ask. What a mistake this was.

The person who waited on me first asked if they were even allowed to sell the watches yet, much less advertise them. I told him this was the launch date, and he said something to the effect that was "Apple's launch date" and Best Buy had their own. Right.

I had printed out my order, and showed him that it would be ready for in store pickup on the 21st. He was unmoved by this. I told him I had been charged already, and he didn't get the concept. Finally, he said he would ask someone else and ventured off to the mobile portion of the store. Oh ****...not the Apple part of the store?

After a few more minutes, he came back with a reinforcement neckbeard who said Apple hasn't released the watches to the stores yet. Puzzled, I asked why the website would indicate they were in stock and would be available for pickup? No idea, he said. About this time, I noticed another employee open up a storage thing behind the counter and saw 3-4 apple watches in there for pickup. I glanced over there, and asked what those Apple watches were if they were not released today. They proclaimed those were "older" Apple watches. Right. Just happened to have 3-4 customers order Series 3 on launch day/week and and arrange in store pickup.

Neckbeard #2 finally said they could cancel my order and refund my money. I told him that wasn't necessary, but that they needed better communication within their store regarding launch dates, availability. He uttered something about Samsung never having these issues.

Get home, still no email from Bestbuy about watch being ready for pickup or status changes.

Finally, around 9 pm on the 21st, I did get an updated email saying there was a delay and if I didn't get the watch by the Oct 21, my order would be canceled.

So....we'll see. I chortle at the website saying "order today and get by the 28th" or whatever at my local store...when my local store has absolutely no idea what is going on.

Carry on.

Cancelled my order yesterday and ordered one from Target. They had just gotten some in stock. Best Buy deal was a big let down. They need to get their act together.

I had a similar experience to this. Didn't initially plan to get S4 watch but in the 11th hour decided I wanted one. Ordering through Apple.com showed a 3-4 week wait period and I didn't want to brave lines. Checked BB and sure enough they had watches available for 9/21 pickup. So on 9/20 I placed an order on bb.com for in-store pickup on 9/21. Everything said I'd be able to get the watch on 9/21, I just needed to wait for the 'your order is ready' email. The email never came.

Finally late in the evening I got an email from Best Buy with the subject line "Order delayed" and the body of the email was a canned "Please accept our apology for this inconvenience. We're sorry – your ordered item(s) are taking longer to fulfill than we anticipated. Please be assured we'll continue to work on this order, and once the item(s) become available we will let you know. If we are not able to complete your order by October 21, 2018, we will notify you and cancel the item(s)." message.

A bit frustrated I went to bb.com to cancel the order. When prompted for a cancelation reason I chose "item would not arrive on time" which felt appropriate given the situation. But upon selecting that reason I was presented with options to receive my order sooner. Shipping was of course among those options but more interestingly I was given the option to have my order fulfilled at another store in the area - a store which showed stock available. Figuring I had nothing much to lose I 'moved' my in-store pickup order to another store.

The store was closed but I got confirmation that my order was successfully transferred to another store for fulfillment. I was then back to waiting for the 'your order is ready' email. And surprisingly just before the store opened on Saturday 9/22 I got that email.

I didn't know it was possible to move an in-store pickup order to another store through bb.com. That said for those of you in a similar situation where you're waiting for your local store to receive stock, you may instead look at moving your order to another local store if they have the same item available. Best of all I didn't have to talk to some customer service drone or otherwise deal with a neckbeard.

Thanks for the heads up.

I followed your steps, canceled my order....chose pickup at different location...and all 5 of my area stores showed in stock by Friday Sept 28.

So, I chose my original store.....and my order, which initially said (paraphrasing) no idea when it would be in now says I can pick it up on Friday and they will email me when it is ready.

I have my doubts....

Update.

Looked at Apple's website. Lo and behold, the watch I wanted was in stock at the local Apple store. Ordered, drove 20 miles, walked in and out the door in 5 minutes.
