Let’s be clear we don’t even have a case leak or a body leak from China. IMO Production has definitely Not started yet.

I’ll be pessimistic for the group. September 2018 Apple will have a Hardware Event and show off new IPhone, New Macbook Pros And New IPad Pros.

Sadly kiss July, and August goodbye Apple wants to milk Back to School sales one last time with current hardware. Is my thought, sales spike of MacBook Pros in August from college students are huge.

Enjoy summer 2018, with current hardware and see you in September.

Not only do I think you're probably right, I'm starting to think you may be optimistic. There are rumors floating around of leaked benchmarks for the A12 AND A12X. I can see Apple wanting to use the latest A-proc in their newest iPP (especially if there's a significant GPU bump since the A10X was so much faster than the custom-built A11 GPU); however, I can't see them releasing both at the same time and risk showing up the newest iPhone. Despite slowing sales iPhone is still the golden goose and iPad is a relative niche product in comparison.

I'm torn because I want/need a new iPad but I'm now afraid we won't see the new iPP until after September—maybe even early 2019!

Well I keep trying to justify a new Laptop and just can’t the features and ease of use of an iPad are Un matched.

I wanted to trade in my iPad Pro while it was still worth $250. Now it’s down to $200

Yeah, if ipad pros were coming in July or August, Apple would have definitely previewed them at WWDC. I think there are 3 possible dates for the ipad pro update. The earliest would be at the iphone event in September, but i don’t think Apple wants the redesigned ipad pro to steal the iphones thunder.

I believe the best bet for ipad pros this year is October/November before the holiday rush. Apple announced the first ipad Pro in November of 2015. Yup. I think this is the best bet.

Worst case scenario? We don’t see the new ipad pro this year at all. Instead Apple announces them in March of 2019. Another popular month for Apple releasing new ipads. A more unlikely release date would be in June of 2019 at the next WWDC. But i think the new ipads will be announced much sooner.

Again, my money is in October/November of this year.

I tend to agree, keep the iPad as a wow stunner tech announcement right before Christmas same with the A12X powered Mac Mini at $599 ish and make it into a must have Christmas gadget with appropriate Santa Claus stocking stuffer ads.

I still remember the original iPad event in Nov 2015 and said I must have it.

I’m also leaning towards October Novemeber because people can buy LTE IPad Pro From carriers and Apple doesn’t want to hurt iPhone sales by launching LTE IPad Pros before a new IPhone.

They might be forced to announce them during the iPhone event if they believe that not doing so would result in them being out of stock for several weeks.
[doublepost=1528249915][/doublepost]If the stock of iPads is not too severely depleted they will probably debut the 2018 iPads in November since it would be ideal to encourage buying iPads as Christmas gifts. I have less stress headaches since using iOS and when I do have stress headaches they are milder since the mail app works as much as 1000 times better than android.

I will be more pessimistic and state that no new hardware will be released until 2019. Just kidding

I keep hearing this argument and I just don't see how it makes sense. How does announcing and iPad somehow detract consumers from the iPhone? I don't think tablets and smartphones are interchangeable devices for most consumers.

But this is not true. The first iPad was announced in September 2015 with an availability date of November.

The original event that happened in September?

Oct/Nov would make sense for the iPad Pro 12.9” model. That would put it on an update schedule of about every 18 months and allow Apple to include its A12x processor.

When is iOS12 supposed to be release, September?

Hmmmm, I think an iOS12/A12X/iPad Pro X has a nice ring to it ;)

I think thats exactly the reason they will launch them together. Last time the iPad Pro launched with A10x just before the iPhone 8 came out with the faster A11. Then buying an iPad Pro didn't seem quite as great with a slower processor than a phone.

Launching the A12 on the phone people will go crazy for its speed. The phone users won't care the iPad Pro has a faster A12x because that makes sense, its a much bigger iPad.

TLDR

iPad Pro users would be rightly annoyed that the iPhone was faster

iPhone users really wouldn't care if the iPad Pro was faster as that makes sense. Its a tablet.

Simultaneous iPhone , iPad Pro launch therefore makes sense

I’m skeptical of a redesign at all this year, mainly because I’m skeptical of removing bezels from a tablet. It might make some sense however, to see the addition of FaceID and a new processor at the same time as the iPhone. It’s always struck me as awkward that the iPad Pro has a slower processor than the iPhone for most of the year. Getting those two things in sync would make a lot of sense. Not doing so when the new iPhones are announced would put the current iPad Pro two generations behind, which seems unlikely.

However, Apple may not want the new iPads to be overshadowed by their iPhone announcements. While consumers may not be directly concerned with this, the media is. The media only cares about being able to use the word “iPhone” in headlines. Apple will get more press if they launch the iPad Pros separately, perhaps in a follow up event a month later.

It does strike me as rather odd that the iPad is always so far behind the iPhone in terms of chip generation. If they leave it much longer the iPad will be two generations behind. Surely the iPad is supposed to essentially a more powerful iPhone?

My educated guess (and hope) is September 2018 if not sooner (again, I hope). I want a new iPad Pro but don't want to get the current model because I believe that the next one is right around the corner. I tend to get the newest models when launched. In my mind, I'm lengthening the life span (the time period between new models). ;)

Just got a kick in the head after reading this. Now, I think that my obsession with the iPhone X put the 10.5 iPad Pro on the back burner (already had 12.9 iPad Pro). I, just recently, bought the 10.5 iPad Pro and wished I had gotten it earlier. I’ll have to “think differently “ next time.
