Yeah so what would be stopping Apple ?
Apple isn’t just taking a generic off the shelf Samsung panel and slapping it on to their devices. They get very little credit for this, but they do the designing and tuning of their own displays and Samsung does the manufacturing. The iPhone X does not have the same kind of OLED display as a Galaxy phone.

Cook is primarily a bean counter.

And that is what I mean you see, Apple over the years, Tough I am not denying the fact gives good value for money, but it also has become a very Snooty, Snobbish, entity by doing things as the way I like kind of a Company ! Who gives damn what its consumers think ? and Just does what it wants to do ! Seldom have they heard to Public Mandate !!

When the confluence of mass production and costs align, I expect that's when we'll see an AMOLED iPad and not before.

Yeah...Ok ! So that would be another 10 Years from now, if not 20 and by then Samsung & Company would have conjured some more Magic Fun things from its Magic Box ! And Apple would be again Lagging behind !! Apple has made people addicted like Drugs, Just because people have got used to what Apple offers, Apple is taking disadvantage of that !

I think Thats obvious in the sense that the iPhone X OLED display has a specific cutout for the facial mapping technology, so the dispay itself had to be custom just to accommodate that feature alone.

That’s just a built in benefit of OLED though—it can be any shape you want. The actual tech in the iPhone X OLED screen is more what I’m referring to—Apple developed that particular OLED screen themselves. They did not consider the standard Samsung screen to be good enough for an iPhone.

That’s what I thought you were getting at. What did they do though? Not doubting you, I’m genuinely curious.

I don’t think anyone knows the exact internal process of how these were developed, Rene Richie explains things a little bit here: https://m.imore.com/iphone-x-vs-pixel-2-xl-oled

He doesn’t seem to know any more than I do about the tech itself, but it’s clearly not an off the shelf Samsung display. Probably has a lot to do with how iOS is tuned for the display as well.

I have been thinking a bit more regarding the launch and considering two new products in this segment the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and the Surface Go i think apple would like to respond sooner rather then later, there for i predict and really hope that they include the iPad Pro in the september keynote. However it might be a delayed release of the actual product.

I really hope to see the actual release before October since in the middle of October i will be traveling to Canada and i would hate to have to bring my iPad Air.

I’m with ya. Middle of October I travel to America and if I cant get it then, next chance is March.

Same, I've been jumping back and forth on whether or not to get a Surface Pro/Go or Tab S4 instead. This iPad Pro reveal needs to hurry up.

Let’s be clear we don’t even have a case leak or a body leak from China. IMO Production has definitely Not started yet.

I’ll be pessimistic for the group. September 2018 Apple will have a Hardware Event and show off new IPhone, New Macbook Pros And New IPad Pros.

Sadly kiss July, and August goodbye Apple wants to milk Back to School sales one last time with current hardware. Is my thought, sales spike of MacBook Pros in August from college students are huge.

Enjoy summer 2018, with current hardware and see you in September.
Late September or early October 2018, either announced at the iPhone event or a separate iPad event.

When new ipad pros weren’t announced at WWDC in June, i was sure they’d be announced at the iphone event in September...but unlike the next iphones, there have been ZERO phsyical leaks about the next ipad pros. Nada. So i think the earliest we see new iPad Pros is November now. More likely in March of 2019. I would love to be proved wrong however.

Didn’t you count this CAD drawing as a physical leak?

I started college in Mid September and I'm really crossing my fingers that the new iPad Pro 11 inch will be ready though I'm not that hopeful. Really want to pair it up with a new MacBook Pro and have the power combo.

If we have to wait until October, I'm going to go nuts. I need a beginning of September announcement.
I'm almost kind of starting to hope the iPads are later. Will be much easier on my wallet to delay that purchase a month. I'm buying a new iPhone and Apple Watch in September.

And for the record, I would REALLY like something to leak--either a release date or a chassis or something. Sometimes I like to sell my old one ahead of time on Swappa before the big rush of used iPads. It would also help me decide if I actually want to upgrade or not.

I envisage that Apple will stagger new hardware releases. The september event will be iPhones, Airpad, AirPods with wireless charging and new watches and there will be an additional event in October for iPads and MacBooks. I can’t see apple releasing the iPads in September
