Apple Cases

I ordered the Peel thin silver case, had that on my 6+ and it’s one of the best cases I had and I made sure to use the discount code from 9to5 mac too

Discount: Peel10

Anybody else try to place an order on Spigen's website today and get the error "Transaction declined - gateway rejected" at checkout? I get the error on different computers and it's not a credit card issue.

Previous choice was Caseology. Then I looked again at the price I just paid for my Space Gray 256 so I decided to go with the Otterbox (same case I have on my iPhone 6S Plus). I got that one after shattering my screen with another case. It's held up extremely well and my iPhone survived a couple of drops unscathed since "clothing" it in the Otterbox (the one exclusive to the Apple Store).

I already brought 3 cases and 2 more on the way. Also picked up a screen protector.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who ordered multiple cases. I ordered 2 because I couldn't make up my mind (and they were inexpensive as well). Then I ordered the same Otterbox I, now, have on my 6 S Plus. Maybe I'll switch them out but, more than likely, will keep the Otterbox on most of the time because it's been very reliable not to mention the drop survival factor.

Going for Nomad Rugged case this time. Bought one of Nomad cases before and it is surprisingly stylish and good that it stopped my addiction of changing iPhone cases twice a day. Plus I'm not taking Apple Care+ this year hence the need for extra drop protection

I just bought a black apple leather case and a black silicon case

And a cheap 10$ spigin case

still looking for the right balance between protection and minimalism, Caudabe Sheath seems to be a good option. I was using the Spigen Air Skin thin case on my 6s+. it didn't help when my phone dropped from 5 feet high. the case and the phone both cracked around the earphone jack:(

what are people going to get for an iPhone x case? Are the best/most popular ones made by Apple the self or are there some other third party cases that are usually better? I really just want a case that is the lightest and slimmest while also making sure my phone doesn’t break if I drop it. Anyone have any recommendations or should I just stick with cases Apple makes?

I think the "answer" would be very subjective. It's really up to the individual. Some people like bumpers, others like folios... There are just so many options. Sure, quality between manufactures may vary, but buy what makes you happy.

That's the thing eh.

I wish there were a case which had a screen side lip, but not all around the phone. If it just had the lip near each corner, but then had no lip down most of the sides & top (& none on the bottom, like the Apple cases), then you could grip the X's wider profile easier whilst still having lay on the table design for the front.

& then due to the thinner sides, the cases' back could be thick enough to cover the camera with no case bump around the camera to allow a flat lay on the table for the rear.

...I've probably explained this badly...

Not measured height, but the width is about 74mm (both ultra hybrid and liquid crystal). For comparison the caudabe lucid clear is about 72mm. Will also measure the ringke ones when they arrive.

This pic shows from left to right my 6s, caudabe lucid clear, spigen liquid crystal, spigen ultra hybrid

Can you please compare the size of the camera cut out for the Caudabe Lucid Clear and Spigen Ultra Hybrid eg. side by side showing their backs?

The cut out for the Lucid Clear seems to be very big, much bigger than the Spigen?

I've been considering the "Rhinoshield Mod" case.

rhinoshield.io/mod

Basically a protective bumper with swappable backplates. Can go clear, solid/pattern, or even no backplate. Doesn't release until after the X though and I have no prior experience with Rhinoshield, so I don't know.
I have been looking at the Rhinoshield cases for the X, they look really good and protective while not gigantic (I really dislike the HUGE Otterbox-style leviathans/cases). I see good reviews for their past Rhinoshield cases and screen protectors -- does anyone here have personal experience with this brand and durability etc?

I have bought the apple leather cases for the last several years (iphone 6 Plus, 6S Plus; prior to that the silicone cases), and the leather cases have protected my 6/6S Pluses from multiple drops onto hard surfaces (marble floors, concrete, tile!...I can be clumsy when distracted). The minimal lip on the leather case has protected my phone as it has fallen face-down several times on these hard surfaces; as well as on the back and sides.

The biggest bane for me in terms of a case would be something that impedes gestures from the sides/bottom/top of the screen. So, I'm wondering whether this is a problem with the Rhinoshield. Also -- has anyone tried the "Lucid Clear" cases from Caudabe? Sounds interesting and protective. Just not sure how protective.

Also - I found on the Reddit iPhone X cases megathread: Tech21, "Evo Tactical" case (looks good, both aesthetic and protection); then the Nomad "Rugged Case"; and finally, the Gear4 "Battersea" and "Piccadilly" cases made with D3O (supposedly super resilient and shock absorbing).

Does anyone have any experience with these case makers?

Hi Shevagol - I was looking at this case as well. Looks protective, but I can't tell whether it's really bulky or not; also what about the edges interfering with screen gestures (from the edges)? Would appreciate your input from experience with past iterations.

Sure. Left to right: caudabe lucid clear, spigen ultra hybrid, ringke fusion.

As a bonus, an edge shot showing the depth of the cases. Caudabe looks quite shallow so I’m not sure how much lip protection it’d offer

I want an ultraslim minimalistic case for my iPhone X Silver
Currently debating between:
  • Caudabe Lucid Clear
  • Caudabe Veil XT
  • Desmay Slight
  • Peel Super Thin iPhone X case
I want the most transparant one..

The Sheath is great, if they did a clear version of this I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Definitely the Veil XT in the Frost colour way. Will give you 0 drop protection, but in terms of quality and durability the Veil XT is great.

Thank you so much! Which one would you recommend?

My gut feel is either of the ringkes. The caudabe looks great but maybe less/no front protection? And I quite like the more tactile feel of TPU. The ringkes are just as clear as the spigen but feel slimmer in the hand.

Ringke air & spigen liquid crystal = fully TPU soft case
Ringke fusion & spigen hybrid ultra = TPU sides and hard back (polycarbonate?)

Would TPU offer more protection as it would cushion a fall vs a polycarbonate back? No idea.

I reserve the right to entirely change my views once I’ve actually got a phone to put the cases in ;)

What is the best alternative iPhone case to apples silicone case? Anyone use a otterbox symmetry? Seems to be close from what I can see on the website but haven’t seen in person.

0 drop protection doesn't matter for me. I just want the back to be protected against scratches when it's on my desk. :)
