And between REV and RECON?
I have the Recon case in black, overall a decent case, looks like it will offer enough drop protection. I like the curved/wavy sides as it is comfortable to hold. One thing I don't like is the red buttons seems quite cheap, got no issue with clicking though.

I’m reposting the images that I used in another post...here: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...he-x-is-horrible.2090348/page-2#post-25512859

There is no hole in the screen, just an optical illusion coming from the iPad camera.

From a value proposition, I believe the Black Ops package brings more value because of the included accessories and the uses of two TPU/polymer types in the case (plus the aluminum sides that will help dissipate shock from all sides of the case).

The Formula X sides are also grippy, but the aluminum sides do not extend around the corners; subsequently you are relying upon the TPU to dissipate and absorb external shocks. I would consider the Formula X case a happy medium between the Recon and the Black Ops. For a $1000 phone used over two years, I see the Black Ops as being a good investment.

Thanks for the input. I'm having a hard time justifying spending $100 for a case, so $200 is out of the question. Although I do like the look of the Silver/Blue Formula X, there's something strange about the camera cutout. Looks too big, and like a lot of dirt could get in there.

I’ll be putting this case through its paces over the next couple of weeks before I actually post a video. I’ll post a link to the video once I have it on the channel. So far loving this case. Feels so awesome in the hand.

A $200 case?!?!?!

What Patchworks case did you order that is similar to the Magpul field case?

iPhone X Case, Patchworks [Level ITG Series] One Piece TPU PC Dual Material with Added Air Pocket Matte Finish Military Standard Drop Tested Snap-On Hard Case for iPhone X / 10 - Black / Black

I’m finally satisfied again. This is hands down the best case I’ve come across. It doesn’t have the same large grid on the back like the Magpul field, but the design in general is similar to that particular case. Also, the buttons are perfect. Can’t find fault with this case.

This cheap case caught my eye. Looks like it has a very high lip around the screen edge, which seems kinda rare. The magnetic mount is included as well.

I could see where some could find it to be an ugly case, but I kinda like it. The drop protection has got to be great, but it is a little ornate. I ordered it in black.

My one concern is whether the metal plate will interfere with the signal. Guess I’ll find out.

I have this case. It is an absolutely awesome case for the price. Great protection. Solid build. The mount is very good. You do lose wireless charging though. I did a competition video for this case vs the Otterbox Defender vs UAG Monarch vs Element Roll Cage vs X-Doria Defense. It held its own against much more expensive competition.

Agreed. Also did a video on this case but for the Note 8. I’m not sure if I’ve uploaded it yet but it was my winner for “moderate protection at a moderate price point”. Very inexpensive and solid design and build all the way around. Only downside is no grippy texture or pattern on the back but the combination of materials used in its construction creates a very solid feel in the hand. Great choice!

I bought this case too. Mainly for the slot inside to put a magnet for magnetic mounts but because it was 3$. I like the feel of the case and it seems to offer decent protection but the phone doesn’t stay on my mount if I hit a bump. The back is too slippery compared to my other cases. The only fix I think would be to mount the actual magnet on the outside of the case which defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place. Besides that I love it and it will stay on my phone most days.

Oh, cool-your excellent video was the reason I purchased the case in the first place!

I loved Caudabe’s Sheath on my iPhone 7 but I hate the ugly thing they made on the back of the case with the iPhone X edition....

Is there any similar alternative ?

I received my Caudabe Sheath on Monday and absolutely love it! Nice and thin, fits tightly, buttons feel great and best of all the texture on the back of the case is nice for those of us with oily hands.

Earlier on this thread the case maker Kaaum was mentioned.

I ordered the case is red. It came damaged and in the wrong color. I contacted the company who insisted on no refunds.

They offered to replace the case for another $5. I refused. I suggested that the refund my money less the $5 or about $13.66. They then refused and said they would only refund $11.

Shady customer service. I recommend you steer clear of them.
