I think it's like that on purpose, so that you can look down & read any notifications without removing the phone from your side.
Loving the dark color and already getting a patina.
Looks lighter in person.
No branding is a plus.
What a clean looking case! How much thickness does it add? Been on the fence about the Apple leather case in saddle brown, but his might be a viable option.
If that's the Nomad Rugged Leather, it's pretty thick.
Since I've ordered a new iPhone X (Space Grey 256 GB), I'm trying to decide on a decent new case. I'm trying to decide between the Incipio DualPro Pure (which just became available for sale) or the Speck Presidio Clear. I would consider an Otter Defender case but I do have concerns it would make the phone feel as physically big as the iPhone 8 Plus!
This one adds a good bit of thickness to be honest. But the trade off is you get 10ft of claimed drop protection. It’s one of the most sturdy solid feeling cases that I’ve used. I’d compare the thickness and sturdiness to an Otterbox symmetry case.

I miss the original Aluminium bumper cases but really like the Black Ops case.
Have you considered looking at the Formula X case in the interim? It has both aluminium side and a carbon fibre back panel.... that is what I used until the Black Ops became available.
Does anyone know if there will be a Magpul field case for the iPhone X? Or maybe of a case very similar to the Magpul field case for the iPhone X?
I thought I read somewhere in this thread that Magpul was done doing cases and that was a side gig of theirs. I could be wrong.
Well if I recall correctly they messed up Note 8 cases bad... and realized it after they shipped a bad batch out lol?
Do you have any pics of the Formula X case? Is it worth the $100 price tag? That Silver/Blue edition looks enticing...

There is no hole in the screen, just an optical illusion coming from the iPad camera.
From a value proposition, I believe the Black Ops package brings more value because of the included accessories and the uses of two TPU/polymer types in the case (plus the aluminum sides that will help dissipate shock from all sides of the case).
The Formula X sides are also grippy, but the aluminum sides do not extend around the corners; subsequently you are relying upon the TPU to dissipate and absorb external shocks. I would consider the Formula X case a happy medium between the Recon and the Black Ops. For a $1000 phone used over two years, I see the Black Ops as being a good investment.

After I posted last night, I ordered the patchworks case. It looks like the closest thing to the Magpul field case. I should be getting it tomorrow and I can’t wait. I’m sick and tired of this clear I-Blason case. Pretty sure I’ll never own a clear case again. Who cares if you can see the back of the phone? It’s over rated.

And between REV and RECON?
I would vote REV over RECON though I haven’t used the RECON I got free with my BlackOps yet. Just on looks alone. I may think differently once I put the RECON thru it’s paces though.
