I just upgraded from a Dell 2001FP to the Cinema Display 24. What a great jump in quality. I loved the color accuracy of the 2001FP compared to my other Dell TN display, but the Cinema Display had much more pop. I don't want to see the new Cinema Display 27 b/c I'm going to want one. When the new 5770 comes out, the who thing about lack of ports on the Cinema Display is going to become a moot point.

Personally I can't suggest a 27" ACD to anyone right now. It uses the same panel as the 27" iMac and it could have the yellow tint issues. If someone was interested in one, it would be best to wait til reviews of it come out.

I heard the 27" have had yellow tinge issue. Have the 24" screens had those problems?

Right now I'm trying to decide between the Dell U2410 (has wide color gamut CCFL lamps with H-IPS panel) vs. the Dell U2311H (doesnt have WCCFL with E-IPS panel).

The U2410 is $539 from Dell and the U2311H is $319. Does anyone own either display? Is the U2410 that great?

I just ordered the U2410. I use Lightroom & Photoshop and for me the extra vertical pixels and color range made it a easy decision. It was on sale for $499 last thursday and they honored that price.

That's a good choice. I was thinking of this one or waiting until the 30" 3011 comes out in late September or October.

It just got here, I'll be setting it up and letting yall know how it is when the Mac Pro gets here :)

Can't find it on there anymore. Seems like Dell is the only major seller right now.

Thats weird. Guess they didn't have very many in stock. Well if you order over the phone from Dell you can probably get a better deal anyways.

It also has more USB inputs and DisplayPort.

It's not "cheap" IPS. It's just not as good as more expensive IPS panels (narrower gamut), but any IPS panel is a better choice than TN.

I actually have the U2311h. Got it a few weeks ago. It's a fantastic balance of performance and price. It performed very, very well on the Lagom LCD tests.

If you're doing print work, I'd say go for something with a wider gamut (the 24" model for example). But if it's mostly on-screen type stuff (I do mostly web app development) then there's no reason to ignore this display.

I have a HP PL2480zx

pretty much the best monitor I have ever used or seen, if your going to spend £2000-£5000 on a mac might as well see what your doing by spending £2000 on a monitor,

Especially when most users use these machines for creative work were colour matters.

Ordered two U2311H's a couple days ago direct from dell, will be delivered tomorrow... I guess they have a whole bunch of them lying around for them to arrive so fast. Too bad my Mac Pro is currently just sitting in Hong Kong with expected delivery date of the 24th heh

Mine is supposed to be delivered on Friday and my u2311h is already here and ready to be hooked up.

Hey guys, your suggestions please...

Ok, it's down to the 24" ACD and the 27" ACD for me, and I would really appreciate any help on this.

As for the yellow tint issues, i'm not too worried about that. Firstly, I highly doubt there will be any yellowing issues (at least hardly). I don't seem to recall any major complaints of yellow issues with the new iMac, so it's pretty safe to say this has been corrected...If there does happen to be yellow tint, I will just keep returning it until I get a good one. No biggie.

But my main concern is the pixel density. I will be sitting around 23-25" away from my display, and I know that the 27" displays text and images are smaller because of its higher PPI.

What would you guys suggest for this situation? I will primarily be using this with Logic and I know screen real estate would be beneficial. I'm also a big gamer too so this display will be used for that as well. I have read that the 16:10 nature will be more natural for gaming, but I also forsee the PC gaming industry as a whole shift to 16:9 anyway since hardware is moving in that direction, so this may be a moot point for me.

I was just at the Apple store today and I was constantly jumping back and forth between the 27" iMac and the 24" ACD and the text/image size is noticeably smaller on the 27". I'm afraid of this because I really don't want to have to lean forward and squint to work in Logic.

I'm trying to make a decision quickly since the 24" is now discontinued and who knows how long stock will last for. I'd want to take of special pricing thats currently going on, if I decide to go for that.

If you are worried about text, press command + (that should make the text bigger), command - (smaller), command 0 (back to normal). Also something to think about, the 27" will still have more vertical room than the 24", so even though it may not feel as natural for gaming, it still has more vertical space. So if I was in your position and had the money for either one, I would probably go with the 27".

Thanks for the advice...Yea, unfortunately some text, when enlarged via Command + start to disrupt the website layout (i.e: Mac Rumors )

Also, this key command trick unfortunately does not work in Logic, so I'm forced to use Control + Mouse scroll up to zoom in.

Thanks though, I will keep pondering this issue.
