Beta 8 External Monitor issue

Well... I'm guessing no beta 9 today. Usually it's up by this time in the day. Tomorrow is 7 days, so hopefully tomorrow!

Although if anyone has any tips for me about why Beta 6 isn't installing on top of Beta 8, but instead I stay on Beta 8 when I install the installer, I would love to hear them!

I tried both downgrading to beta 7 using the Mr Macintosh link as well as "fixing" the beta 7 USB installer starting with this post from last week and working forward through that thread. Neither worked. I just ended up on beta 8. Even verified the sha256 hash just to be extra sure I grabbed the right files.

Later in that thread, there's a recommendation to use twocanoes' MDS to grab a proper Monterey beta 7 installer which would have the fix in place, but Apple seems to have taken down their Monterey betas except for beta 8.

Long story short, I think we're stuck on 8 until Apple releases 9.

I'm with you on missing my external monitor right now.

Attempted to download Beta6 from Mr. Macintosh site but it keeps disconnecting and the download speed is very slow. I'll just have to deal with working on my 13-inch MBP screen for now.

I'm done with betas for awhile on iOS and Mac OS. No one to blame but myself. Hopefully, Apple comes out with a fix soon.

I had the same intermittency issue so I used a download manager: Download Shuttle. Works a treat.

Well I finally was able to download Beta6 from Mr. Macintosh. This took a couple of days as it kept timing out.
The downside is that Photos will not open because it says the photo library is from a newer version.
I guess I will have to use my iPad/iPhone for that function. Here is hoping we see a fixed Beta 9 this week. Usually we see things on Tuesday at least for Developers and there was nothing today so I am feeling like its next week. There is no way we can be close to GM candidate though. Which makes me think any apple announcements are at least 2-3 weeks out.

I really hope B9 drops tomorrow. I just got a new monitor (LG 5K Ultrafine) and cant use it because of the bug. My computer detects the monitor and everything except the display itself works.

no issues with extra monitors - tried 2 different monitors - both work ok - both with thunderbolt to HDMI cable

if you dont sleep monitor wouldnt any issue but if you left
damm . connect and reconnect again the usb c hub /usb c .

Perfect, worked this time. I'll try to install b6 tonight and keep the fingers crossed the upcoming b9 will fix the problem.

I have a 2016 13in MBP and have the issue. Tried a variety of things including swapping monitors and nothing has worked. I have 2 different USB-C dongles with HDMI ports and an external monitor will not work on either one after updating to Beta8.

I have the same issue but also found that the camera only works on the external monitor even though there is no display. The camera on the laptop will not work.

Running a 2018 Mac Mini here with 3 monitors: 1 x HDMI - HDMI, 1 x Thunderbolt - HDMI, 1 x Thunderbolt to VGA:
all monitors sourced from the dumpster round the back of my bank.

All working fine.

This issue should be fixed by Beta 9. I just updated to Beta 9 and the 2nd display is now back...

Thanks for that. The signal chain is important though. For example I'm going Thunderbolt 2 out (2012 Mac) > to Display Port in > (equally ancient Dell u3011 display).

Installed beta 9 today. Apple 27" Apple LED Cinema Display which worked fine through Beta 6 stopped working in Beta 7 and hasn't worked in 8, and now still not working on beta 9.

it might be different problem for you though,

most of us here hit by this problem in Beta 8 not Beta 7

Try a SMC reset? I have a 2019 MBP 16" and the 27" TB Cinema Display and it's working fine. Using the Apple TB3 to TB2 adapter.
