If you have two macs, the best thing is to only update one of the SDKs. As someone said, you'll be stuck with the simulator, but at least you'll be able to compile 2.2.1 apps.

So wait, if you have music and apps on your phone, are you better off restoring through iTunes or through the organizer?

Installed the 3.0 Beta, neither iPod or Mail will launch. Everything else appears fine..

Rebooted a couple of times still with no luck.

Previous Cydia Emojii hack still remains on the phone (Yay!).

Can't figure out how to actually send an MMS, though..

Anyone else got this problem with iPod and Mail?

Did an upgrade to 3.0 Beta.

Everything works perfect. All old apps are there are work. Haven't tried any new app purchases or syncing yet.

Will just test my 2.x apps on my iPod Touch for now.

All new features announced are in 3.0 and work nicely. Noticed a few minor bugs but nothing major.

For those of you who have successfully installed 3.0 and have working apps, did you restore from the organizer or iTunes? And did you restore from a backup?

iTunes.

Anyone know where the Voice Notes app is?! It's suspiciously absent on my iPod touch.

It was put on page 2 for me on my iPhone 3G.

So, I have installed iPhone OS 3.0 on my iPhone 3G and everything is fine. If I install the iPhone SDK 3.0, can I compile apps for 2.2.1, or only for 3.0? I have an iPod Touch, which I will leave with current iPhone OS to test apps for 2.2.1

No problems other then no visual voicemail

I guess no one wants to be the 3.0 sdk guinea pig ... I guess I'll do it as soon as it's done downloading ... about 2 more hours

It's a little discouraging to see so many people having such random issues with the same hardware with certain functions not working or missing.

For me ... as I said the only issue seems to be a bit slow syncing ... I can live with that

I finally let my curiosity get the better of me and I installed 3.0., through iTunes. I set it up as a new phone, to avoid any issues (and maybe get rid of the issues I was having with 2.2.1) and it's taking a while to put my stuff back on, but so far, everything seems alright. I had a brief moment of panic after I hit the button, but I've accepted the consequences and convinced myself that the benefits outweight the risk (my warranty was expired anyway, and I was planning on getting the new phone when it came out [hopefully June, or earlier] so we'll give this a shot) The no turning back did scare me a little, but, I'm living on the EDGE- ha!

As I said there seem to be no issues with my phone and 3.0 ... that being said I was hoping someone had downloaded SDK 3.0 to see if you could publish apps as 2.2.1 or any older version ... just not test on the device if so ... I can live with that

Anyone tried any downgrading, yet? That's the #1 thing that concerns me considering this is my personal phone that I develop on and I'd rather it not suck to use for the next 3 months.

In thinking about SDK 3.0 prior to installing it ... I am going to assume that you can not compile for 2.2.1 because of all the new API's that are opened up and the existing changes or expansions of the API's that you previously had access too. Therefore it is my belief that if you have installed SDK 3.0 you will only be making apps for SDK 3.0 on it...

You can.

In every version Apple has released you could always build for previous versions and don't know why this would be any different. You have to select what target you want when you build it so as long as you're not using frameworks that are no in older versions you can go back to 2.0. It wont actually let you build with the wrong version, if you select a previous version and you have new stuff you get errors.

I just built a 2.2 and a 2.0 app and they built and installed fine.
