While *I* would go for an iPhone personally, I dare to say that a gs4 will run fine for two years. However at this point you are almost one year late already so get the gs5 instead.

We have a gs3 in our house and once the bloat is disabled (no hacking needed) it is still functioning great. Of course my gs4 outperforms it but that's mainly because it runs a fully compatible Google edition ROM instead of touchwiz. That will probably make it good for three years lol.

Great point......Might as well go for the Galaxy S5 to be announced later this month to have the latest hardware version. A friend at work has a completely stock GS3 and loves it.......has no plans to upgrade to GS5.

Exactly the point. If you don't have the latest Apple hardware, iOS updates count for nothing but an increment in the version number.

considering my ipad 2 is still going strong, that is far from the truth.

Maybe we can open your eyes and educate you a bit.

maybe you can open your eyes and see what android really looks like?

you dont even have to think, ill tell you - UGLY

and for me, thats critical...

also, i like to be a costumer to a company whose products im using. not just ad target ;)

so, when someone asks me this question my answer is always the same. does iphone do everyhing you need or want it to do? if yes, buy an iphone.

i cant honestly recommend android to someone, it would make me look bad. its just too ugly and laggy, just function, no user experience. yacht vs battleship. device made for actual usage vs ad platform with every function imaginable, see what sticks kind of mentality.

oh yeah, you can costumize it just the way you like. good for you. now, just include one screenshot with your answer so i can further cement my stance.

How is what he said far from the truth?

He said you don't get anything (features) with iOS updates. And you bring up a prime example with the iPad 2. I've gotten more feature updates on my antique Xoom then my iPad has.

It's not always hardware either, the guise Apple fans always try to hide behind. AirDrop is a good example, only hardware requirement being BT 4.0. There are plenty of devices that have BT 4.0 and don't get AirDrop. That's why it works so remarkably well when jail broken.

Filters in photos? Does that take that much processing power? 3rd party apps do it fine.

There are something's that COULD be argued with hardware like Siri. Keep in mind Apple took Siri away after it had been fine. People argue that Apple wasn't happy with the quality of the app with the hardware. MEANWHILE they release fly over on the iPad 3 which is hilariously laggy and just has overall poor performance. iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 which is dreadful. Maps which even now can be a terrible experience outside the US. So Apple isn't above releasing things that aren't good or the hardware can't support it well enough.

Although I prefer Apple products I'm not to fond on the way they update their software. Prime example is the bugs in native apps on iOS 7. If this was Android those app would be updated but with iOS I have to wait until an entire OS update is released.

I returned my iPad Air because of iOS 7's crashing issue. 7.1 will supposedly fix it but I didn't want to risk it. I may pick one up once I can verify the issues are fixed.

Wow! Thats one crazy reply!

It amazes me how people call Android ugly, yet you can customise it to look like you want, while at the same time they argue how beautiful a grid of icons look.

Anyway, I can tell from your reply theres no point having a genuine discussion with you.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Pushbullet is the reason I am willing to stay with android compared to iPhone (just want a 4-4.5 inch phone with flagship specs and optics and "stock" android). Once they add multi uploads, it will be immensely better compared to dropbox or other cloud stuff. Me and wife regularly use it to send pictures of our baby and a colleague uses it to send files from his tablet to mine. No cloud setup or worrying about storage size management.

It sucks how we can't communicate to iPhone through that app.

So there is an example of something that works better on android compared to an iPhone. At least for us.

On the other hand, I cannot wait for the IFTTT app coming to android. That's an advantage iOS has for now at least in my eyes, something I would use.

As soon as Google gets ART figured out, gets serious with android studio for devs, and pushes devices to atleast not butcher the basic android apis and framework to ensure maximum app compatibility, the iOS app advantage may threatened. I hope both Google and MS are moving towards that end with their mobile strategy.

If your phone is a social toy then wouldn't matter which one, but if your phone earns you money and is a business phone you want Apple support and intergration between devices. I couldn't do a 2 year contract on a S4 they just drop in value too quick.
Mind you i wouldn't mind a bigger screen.

That is completely ridiculous. What businesses are on icloud and osx?

All a business phone needs is exchange which android has too.

Theres more to ios than the homescreen...

But why did you call me an idiot?

And wheres that screenshot of your costumization? So we can all see how android is beautiful... Please show me im an idiot and post a few screenshots of your costumisation of android and ios side by side. Ive seen the stock one and its ugly as hell.

Yaht vs battleship, android is only function, no beauty, no character, just plain ugly function. No design whatsoever. Exactly what an ad platform should look like. Privacy sucking machine designed solely to sell ads.

So, show me the beauty of android in all its glory, enlighten me. Maybe ill see through that plain google black and gray design with that beautiful roboto font... They even started using a bit of transparency lately, maybe thats the beauty youre talking about? Like they say, a picture is a thousand words, so please, show me im an idiot, please do...

I would say "stock android" is more minimalist than say, a colorful balance of ios7. But it is not ugly. Sure touchwiz is, lg skin is, sense might be too although I find it classy, but Google android is definitely not ugly. Just more plain.

For software updates and better resell value - iPhone 5s

Expect three years of software support while the S4 may never go beyond KitKat.

But it isn't as cut and dry like before. The 5s might look better with a more timeless design and has better cam. But its 64-bit architecture only has 1 GB of RAM.

Galaxy S4 has a few hardware features going for it.
- WiFi ac (something Apple will add this year)
- IR blaster
- Removable battery
- Expandable memory slot up to 64 GB which will get cheaper.
- Flexibility of Android
- Bigger screen (which Apple will increase this year)

Up to you what you value most or prefer in the longer term.

And again, exchange is the backup for businesses here. I hope your business mail and contacts isn't completely reliant on iCloud.
Never mind that you can backup an android phone too.

Your constant rolleyes are super necessary, it's hard to understand what you are senselessly bashing
Typically carriers with business contracts will offer replacement phones on the spot, at least in my experience. For a single person you have a point, but you were moaning about business use.

Businesses usually deal directly with the carrier anyway, with their own reps.

Who is moaning, you are the one that went on a rant about iCloud and exchange lol. I was saying about Apple after sales service:D
Yep the carrier will give you a cheap phone while you wait weeks for your phone to be fixed. Works well.
