Hi, if there are any Bluebeam Revu users here, have you been able to get Revu for Mac working on Big Sur? I have an older Macbook Pro that I tried it on, and it crashes each time it's opened with an "invalid instruction" - Just wondering if anyone else here is having the same problem.

I am having the same problem. Remember the last time Catalina was launched we’ve been here to issue a patch

But this time there probably wont be a patch as they dont support it for Mac anymore. 😩

Super annoying! Trying to use bluebeam on parallels but it's so laggy and just not the same as using native app!
Hopefully someone comes up with workaround!

I'm having the same issue. I contacted Bluebeam yesterday and this was their disappointing reply:

"Hi Andy,

Thanks for contacting Bluebeam - I'd be happy to help!

Unfortunately, Revu for Mac has now been discontinued. You can find out more about Revu for Mac End of Life here:

https://support.bluebeam.com/articles/revu-for-mac-end-of-life-eol-announcement/

Because of this, there will be no further Revu for Mac updates. I have a feeling you may need to revert to a prior version of OSX to continue working with Revu. Another suggestion would be to maybe try to run Revu via Bootcamp, which would involve having your Revu for Mac license changed to a Revu for Windows license. It's not an 'officially supported' environment, but users find luck with it.

Let me know how you'd like to proceed!"

If anyone has a work around I'd be pleased to hear about it. Really poor from Bluebeam that it can't cope with osx upgrades for whatever reason

thanks for passing that on. I’ll contact support as well. Maybe if the6 get enough requests, they’ll fix the problem and issue a 2.21 version.

I've got the same issue.

Considering Blubeam promised a "web based solution" as substitute (nowhere in sight yet) and also considering the ,burial' of Revu for Mac was just eight months ago, they should definitely issue a quick fix.

In my opinion, the problem was that version 1 was crap and only offered things that macOS had built in for free, so when version 2 came out and was actually good, even on the verge of becoming VERY good, no one bought it ...

I've had another response from Bluebeam this morning saying they no longer have any OSX developers so there is nothing they can do and the best bet would be to downgrade the OSX to Catalina  I don't if there is anything Apple can do that would make it work? I don't know enough about these things!

That's kind of a lame excuse. They could contract the work out, and it would probably cost less than $25K. Sounds like it's just not worth it to them, but I think it's worth it to us to keep trying.

Has anyone begun looking at alternatives to Revu? Hard to find something that lets you use the calibrate and measure tools that were unique to Revu though...

I've never found a replacement app. I also collaborate with Windows Revu users which worked well across the two platforms. I could really do with finding a way for this to work with needing to downgrade my osx

I haven't found a replacement either. Preview works OK just for adding text markup, but there is no substitute for the Bluebeam Studio interface, or any of the more advanced markup.

I've emailed support again, and will also request that they open-source the Mac version once I get the rejection. 100% sure it's not going to happen, but hey, why not.

Also going to open Revu on my Big Sur Mac as many times a day as I can to get a lot of crash reports to Apple. Shooting for 100 per day. Maybe it gets noticed. Long shot, I know.

The specific error seems to be "Attempt to pop an empty graphics context stack" and I have seen other apps with this problem, so maybe there's something Apple can do. Again, long shot, but it's the only shot for me outside of abandoning Mac.

Sadly, our conversations with Bluebeam have been as unsuccessful as those above. We've known the day was coming when their software would no longer work. Despite reports to the contrary, they indicated they're not really moving forward with the web app - or at least won't acknowledge they are. It leaves us with the VM version, which isn't really optimal.

While there are times we have to use Revu on the PC via VM, we're starting to move away from their software. We're finding some success with PDF Editor for many tasks. It's nowhere near as robust with the annotations.

Thank you for sharing your experience with PDF Editor. They have not acknowledged my request to open source the Mac. Not expecting one.

It's disappointing to hear that they aren't working on a web app.

Thanks for the reply. I will give those a shot.

I did finally hear back on my ridiculous request to open-source the Mac version of Revu, and the reply indicated that I should put in a suggestion at http://suggestions.bluebeam.com/ - I'm going to put in that suggestion and also a suggestion to bring back the Mac version!!

I put in a request to open source it as well, it will be very disappointing if I have to get a windows PC for the sole purpose of using Bluebeam Revu not to mention pay for another license

my request has gone in too , either to open source or update to working version ... my main usage is icon sets in tool chest for overlaying PDFs for site works , I do take measurements as well can live without this if required . Can anyone suggest an alternative product with similar tool chest integration of custom made tool sets ?

Hey all - I just downloaded v. 1.9 from the following link:
https://support.bluebeam.com/download-archive/#revu-mac
It still runs on Big Sur! Depending on your needs, this may do the trick.
The only problem is that my 2.0 serial and licence does not work with 1.9 so I only have a 30 day trial :(
By chance did you try installing 2.0? I wonder if it would work doing a clean install of 2.0 after the Big Sur upgrade.
