Hate to necro a thread, but has anyone had any success reformatting their dedicated Time Machine partition on their Drobo as APFS? There's talk that it's much faster in BS 11.1 and 11.2 over 11.0.1..
People actually dare to put Time Machine on a Drobo? Freaky. Do they backup the backups, or something?

Drobo actually put in a method to create a Time Machine partition, but to macOS it looks like an HFS+ partition.

Have this uncomfortable feeling they're still nowhere near offering APFS support, it appears that they have to write some kind of translation system to make it compatible under their proprietary BeyondRAID protocol, and it looks like whoever they hired to do HFS+ for them doesn't want to do it again for APFS, or Apple isn't giving them enough support (which seems unlikely since the SoftRAID guys are supporting APFS) or some other political reason.

I'm runninng the 3.6 beta Dashboard and am able to run my Drobo D3 opn my M1 Mac Mini using the USB C connection on the Drobo. File a support ticket on Drobo and ask to try 3.6

With that beta, what does macOS see the Drobo volumes as, APFS or HFS+? Just curious.

Has anyone else tried the Drobo Dashboard update to 3.6.1
I just installed it and plugged my M1 into the Thunderbolt 3 port on my Drobo and it's working.

I have not been able to get it to work. I just got in a loop of trying to give drobo permissions to in the system extensions. It tells me I have to restart and change the kernel extensions permission. When I do that it still gives me the same error message in system preferences. I uninstalled the drobo 3.6.1 and reinstalled it and just can't get it to work.
