Do, thanks so much for the reply, I figured I'd have to go a different route, Would VMFusion be adequate to run this? because if so, I could just fire that up..

thats ok :)

yup vmware will run it fine, the anydvd hd step bottleneck is at the hard drive bandwidth not CPU usage, so nothing to worry about virtualising it or anything :D

if you need help finding the program, give me a bell ;)

DoF, If I can get your help I'd really appreciate it.. I d/l'd and installed the trial version of AnyDvd, but it won't let me select the ISO image, it keeps asking/looking to the D:/ and I went through the settings to see how to change it or do a file open but it's not having any of it.. is this because it's the trial version??

Thanks as always for any info you can provide...

ok so basically, any dvd hd requires a dvd/bd to run from directly. Using a virtual machine is really simple. Simply navigate to the 'devices' section of your virtual machine (parallels has a 'devices' section in the menubar, not sure about vmware), go to 'cd/dvd' and add a disk image. From there, navigate to your .iso file and mount it into your virtual machine. Anydvd hd should then recognise it and decode it on the fly for you.

Give me a bell if you need more help.

I hate discs. Good for archives, crappy for daily use. Putting everything on a HDD and having it available "on demand" is the only way to go..

Watching a movie is an event for me, I can't just spontaneously put one on. I like to get a snack and a drink, and watch a film from start to end without interruptions. The 20 seconds it takes me to go to my DVD shelf and grab a disc and put it in my player is pretty irrelevant. I don't see how much more "on demand" you can get. It'll take just as long to navigate to your movies folder and scroll to the one you want. Plus I'll take a high quality much less compressed blu-ray over any downconverted compressed file any day.

I also get a snazzy little box with movie artwork on it that I can display on a shelf like a trophy. That's something that you'll never get with downloads. Oh, and I still buy CDs *gasp*. Physical media is here to stay if you like it or not and that make me one happy camper. :)

who says you have to "down convert" them though? i just rip my BD discs into .mkv format and away i go. no loss in quality at all, and i have a digital copy so *if* i want to convert for my ipod etc i can! thats my way and im happy with it.

*gasp* hahahahaha.

one day i plan on having a setup like this, id have all the movies artwork on the computer/media player and it would look much more attractive when searching for a movie. again, thats just me!

Ok, I'm going to try when I get home and post the results... As always thanks!!!

DoF, Ok, I thought I had it working as I was able to get one blu ray done, but then I tried doing Fantastic 4 Rise of Silver Surfer and everything went ok up to the part with MakeMKV.

After I put it through Anydvd HD, I took the end resulting ISO and started it through MakeMKV, but about 6mins into it MakeMKV keeps coming up with a "Fatal Error"...

Have you ever experienced that?? I tried uninstalling MakeMKV and reinstalled it.. I'm not sure where the problem could be..

Thanks!!

Also, as a thought, if I'm using Anydvd HD to convert the PS3 ISO can't the Anydvd HD created ISO then be run through Handbrake??

Or does it have to go through MakeMKV first?? I had thought Handbrake was able to handle ISOs??

At this time, Handbrake does not understand the Bluray disc structure.

really nightstorm? i thought that handbrake could handle the decrypted mt2s files!! ??

A decrypted m2ts file is not the Bluray disc structure. It is simply the file that contains the audio and video muxed together.

My point was that you cannot feed a Bluray (ISO or directly via something like AnyDVD HD) into Handbrake and expect it to do anything.

Mac BlurayRipper Pro 1.0

has nobody else seen this yet?

Mac BlurayRipper Pro 1.0

http://www.macblurayripperpro.com/

only costs $20. was listed on macupdate yesterday and after trying the demo for one rip i bought a license for $20. it works just like mactheripper or ripit, rips the disc to a folder on your computer (exact duplicate of the blu-ray disc minus the copy protection). i guess from that folder you can make a disk image but i haven't tried that yet. only problem is that i haven't found a way to burn to single layer disc because there is no fit-to-disc option for blu-ray in toast. i was able to convert the main m2ts file it created using handbrake but there are no chapter markers.

i'm currently running the ripped folder in MakeMKV, which should add the chapter markers and then bring it into handbrake

no more need to spend $100 on AnyDVD HD.

the first link goes to macupdate.com, works for me... just go to http:/www.macupdate.com and search for Mac BlurayRipper Pro (right now it's on page two since it was released yesterday).

i ran one disc during the trial and at the end it said i can rip 4 more discs, so the trial will allow you to rip 5 discs.... but i've been waiting for something just like this so after one rip i bought a license.

What exactly is the advantage to AnyDVD HD or Mac BluRayRipper Pro? Why can't you just make a full resolution MKV with Make MKV and then handbrake the MKV file? What is the benefit of the extra step and additional 20-30 gigs of hard drive space?

Tried it on 4 discs today and none of them ripped because of key errors. Seems like it's junk at this point, but if they can get around those problems then it would be a good deal.

i've ripped a couple discs so far without any errors. what discs did you try ripping? i've ripped terminator salvation and it might get loud and both ripped fine and play fine in VLC.

well for one, AnyDVD HD makes a ISO file and Mac BluRayRipper Pro rips to a folder which you could make into a disc image... from there you could make perfect copies onto blank dual layer blu-ray discs. you can't do that with mkv files.

Nice post. But i think it is a little fussy. Just one tool can finish all the tasks.
I usually use Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac which can directly rip and convert blu-ray simultaneously. It can also offer u apple tv format as output format so that u can play it on your apple tv. And the conversion speed is satifying.
U all can follow this guide, and share your suggestion.
