Burned on swappa galaxy s8 plus

well I bought off swappa galaxy s8 plus
There's a major defect in the screen
Almost like a crease or dent in the glass.
Basically from one side to the other.
And also to small defects in the screen like small bubbles.
And the seller is saying am lying
And the phone is perfect.
I filled a claim With paypal
It looks like he owns a phone repair shop that what his PayPal is linked to.
Is it possible he could of replaced the screen and dumped it on swappa?
It's hard to get a good pic I will add a few to show the issue the best I can.
I also added these pics to PayPal.
Any help would be appreciated.

What PayPal will do is give your $ back. I would take it out from your account asap so the seller doesn't try to reclaim it because chances are he will fight back.

Was it listed in mint condition or brand new?

I did yesterday about 10 minutes after I received the phone.

You should receive your money back. Smart that you photographed the defects. Keep in contact with Pay Pal. Also, record all messages/transactions with the seller. You can also forward any documentation to Pay Pal for reference. The Fact that the box was already opened when it should not have been when the seller claimed it was new, is reason enough to file a claim against this individual. Hope this works out for you.

once you get your money refunded by paypal, transfer that money out of paypal . also once you get your money out of pay pal work out a plan to send the phone back to the seller

I meant to say once you get a refund in your PayPal account, transfer the $ back to your bank account or credit card. Seller shouldn't be able to take your $ because that's complete BS that someone tries to pull that type of fraud stunt.

Yes I had a s8 ordered for Samsung cancelled because I wanted a plus.

Good luck! Sorry that happened to you but you should be able to get a full refund. PayPal always sides with the buyer....always....

Good you filed a claim with Paypal, you will surely get your money back, I had a bad experience with a seller here (macrumors) buying
Iphone 6s plus, I was accused as a scammer, it was a used one though sometime you get the feeling the moment they pulled a fast one on you. It always pay with Paypal regular, not gift. The motto is buyers beware.

Have you not considered just taking it to a Samsung store and seeing if they will replace it out as it's within it's manufacturers hardware warranty. Might be a lot quicker a resolution than filing claim and waiting 30 days for resolution on PayPal ....

Update PayPal ruled in my favor
I have to send it back then I get my refund.
The seller basically threatened me on swappa saying "if I did anything to it he will drive up to my house because am 2.5 hours away"
I said is this a threat he said no then he said.
If I were to pull a scam he would drive up and call the cops wth is wrong with people.
Maybe he didn't see the screen maybe he did either way he has to return it wherever he bought it.
Or try and pawn it on someone else.
Any suggestions on this?
I figured I would video and take pictures of me boxing the phone up for proof that I actually sent it and boxed it
Am definitely done with swappa.
And I did check the phone out in my home for a bit I liked it and it worked great.
I didn't really use it so it's not like I tested it out.
Just went through the settings a little.
Now to decide if I should buy one from ATT or not.

It honestly just sounds like a sale that has gone wrong based entirely on miscommunication and assumptions based on a total lack of trust from both seller and buyer.

As much as you think you are being scammed it sounds like the seller is feeling exactly the same way about the situation and feels he could be being duped by you and could be a S8+ down themselves.

It sounds like it was genuinely sold (by seller) and bought in good faith (by yourself) and escalated very quickly once you discovered an issue that the seller may have been utterly unaware of. After all why would they put themselves through hassle of selling a flawed phone when it's essentially brand new and they would be able to return / replace it themselves had they been aware of the fault. That would have been a lot less hassle than selling it onwards. It doesn't make any sense.

With that in mind you can understand why he could think he is being duped by you. It does happen to sellers.

Maybe best advice would be to avoid swappa in the future once this is sorted one way or the other.

I would take screen shots of his threats too.....
Be sure to sign out of your accounts on the phone and do a complete factory reset.

Assuming it went down as the OP said it did, it doesn't matter what the seller thinks. If the buyer returns phone, seller is made whole. The seller ends up exactly how he started. If the buyer doesn't return phone buyer is not whole: he ends up with a defective phone after paying for, what was advertised as, a brand new phone.

It should...i would double check and try to go through setup and see if it asks for the last Samsung account that was used on it just to be safe.

Does USPS let you specify the actual recipient? I would make sure the seller is the one to sign for it....
So if you send it to John Doe....make sure John Doe is the only one that can sign for it.
