Update was attempted delivery twice he hasn't gotten it yet.
And I sent it to his business supposedly.
I called PayPal and they said I did my part and they will look into it.
And I just received a email saying I have gotten my credit and the case is closed.
Now I bet he will be running to the post office asap to get the package.
And if he don't I will get the phone back not expecting that tho.

I am glad it all worked out for you in the end :)

wow! He should have received it if it arrived at a business address. I send my online purchases to work for that very reason. Happy to hear that PayPal helped you out. I'm thinking there's a 99% chance he'll visit that post office today, and then re-list that steamer on Monday.

agree with what others are saying....he didn't pick it up so it will go back to you. Then try to get his money back.
Which tells me he KNEW of the defect all along.
Might want to contact PP and ask them what to do if that happens.

When I called PayPal last week they said u did your part that's why they refunded me before he picked up the phone.
Bc I did was I supposed to do.

Send it back with registered post and signature required for delivery.
You'll have to absorb the postage costs, but it's your only safe way out.
The seller already knows your address, but you could use a friend's PO BOX as the sender address for the return.
Once you have sent it, you can enter the tracking info into PayPal, as evidence that you have sent it - this will speed up your claim's processing and make your refund money available sooner.
Samsung have no obligation to you for this issue.
Lesson: In the future, don't attempt to buy a handset from any place other than an authorised store.
The entire sale is a red flag (why would someone be selling a brand new s8+ privately, and I assume, below cost?).

Why does Samsung have no obligation? The warranty is transferable. Now if the issue was that the seller tampered with the device, then yes Samsung has no obligation. But if it's a screen defect then they should replace it. It doesn't hurt to try. But a much faster method would be to simply bring it to your carrier, they would barely look at it before replacing it.

As for selling a brand new s8+ and selling it below cost, have you looked at Swappa? There are numerous listings of brand new and mint ones for sale below cost. Samsung has a tendency to drop in value once released. I see on average about $100 below cost, even less if you factor in not having to pay tax, shipping and activation fees.

The only thing that was a red flag was the negative feedback on the seller. I won't touch a negative feedback, or zero feedback for a sale on swappa.

The OP stated in the thread title that he bought it on Swappa.

Yes. The seller will say
"I just couldn't afford it.
Lol" I had the same remarks not from the seller when I was scammed few weeks ago at this forum with iphone 6s +, when I had problem very similar to what you go through. Yet others that were supporting him saying I was using rent money to buy phone, what an insult! I am glad paypal behind you all the way.

Highly doubtful any company would ship a product with that level of defect. More likely the seller sold a phone that has been repaired and botched the SAMOLED layer in the process. OP made the right decision to return it instead of wasting effort to correct the situation and thus covering up the seller's dishonesty.
