With the lack of an audio jack, the wait times and now this, I am seriously thinking about cancelling and waiting for the always improved s model

It's probably not as big of a deal as you're making.

I am very curious to see if this is a speaker buzz sound issue due to the new front facing speaker, or if it is simply internal components like CPU working on their own. Others said they can hear it in older models, but if it was this noticeable it probably would have come up previously.

Is it more of a whine, or a buzz?

Yeah, you wait for the next one, when they bring the headphone jack back...

Can anyone with a 7+ confirm that theirs definitely doesn't make any noise (when checked in a very quiet room)?

I got the same issue, I think that's why they have removed the audio jack, let's wait to see if explodes! o_O

Curious, has everyone updated to 10.0.1 perhaps theres a fix? I can't imagine it a serious issue, Ive heard a similar noise in previous phones, even non Apple ones. Parts do have to make some noise.....I can understand though how a noise would bother some, my ears can't really hear that great so most stuff goes right by me, but those younger ears out there pick up the slightest stuff!

Apple created tiny hamsters on roids and super crack that run on tiny wheels which generate 1.21 gigawatts of power. Without them your phones would run slow and unstable just like the Note 7.

The first models are always **** versus the s.

This isn't exactly true. First rev models (non-s) aren't bad at all. In fact they're quite better than the previous "s" generations. Every new iteration brings better hardware and some improvements, so naturally an iPhone 6s will be better than an iPhone 6, just like the iPhone 6 is better than the iPhone 5s.

The "s" is just a naming for marketing purposes and it doesn't define that those iPhones are good and the ones without it are bad.

7+ Gold 128

I can confirm I have experienced this weird issue as well.

First time I heard it I was restoring my phone while it was plugged in charging. Phone was working hard and very hot. It then happened again while re downloading all my apps via cloud. Again, phone was working hard and very hot.

Happens when the phone is hot and working hard. I can reproduce it at will.

And, care to share? I've searched twitter a bunch don't see what you're mentioning.

Look at gruber's
I've read his review. He didn't mention it. But again we're talking about a noise that some people just aren't going to hear not everyone hears at the same level. Now if someone were to specifically ask him that'd be different in my opinion. However you did say a bunch of guys on twitter and still haven't seen one. Any more examples I'd love to read! Please and Thanks.

Can confirm, mine is doing it. Though, I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't see it mentioned online.

I agree, this is very much an SS model imo.

I'll see if mine hisses when it arrives next week lol

Nobody predicted #hissgate

I am convinced now that this is more widespread than initially thought and chances are most won't realize it unless they happen to set their phone up in a quiet room or put their ear up to the BACK of the phone which is unlikely. At least it is starting to get press as some of these other sites will start to pick this story up. What is interesting is that in the link one of the tweets said it effected a 7 so this isn't specific to the 7+. Will see how this unfolds but will keep that 14 return window on close watch. I refuse to go through the whole return/repurchase process over and over again. Last year it was screen issues (pressure point etc) and at this point I may just stick with my 6S+. We will see though.

My phone is making the sound as well, however I don't think I would have noticed it had I not read this first and put the back of the phone up to my ear

Same here. And also the top half of the phone on the back gets pretty hot when charging. After those exploding Note7. Fingers cross this is not that lol.

I noticed mine does the same last night while charging. Right around the rear camera area. Didn't make sense to me. Nothing's up there that would need so much juice. Wonder if it's normal or something else? Past phones only ever did that under load.

7 Plus here, no hiss or noise.

Excellent – then I guess it's a returnable fault. :)

When the 6 was released, people noticed the really low hissing from the home button. Lol I should stop reading all these threads since there was no way I would've noticed that. Now it's another hissing sound.
