Oh man. Instead of dating girls in high school in the 1980's I was busy copying and playing C64 games. And making fun of my friends with TRS-80's and Apple IIe's)

Mail Order Monsters

M.U.L.E. (played for hours. Two on joysticks and two on keyboard)
Jumpman
ULTIMA III: Exodus (which my mom thought was satanic so I couldn't finish
Space Taxi
Archon
Strip Poker -- Yeah you had to use your imagination:

Impossible Mission "STAY A WHILE ..... STAY FOREVER!!!!!"

Summer Games (played for HOURS with tons of friends)
Winter Games
Silent Service (which I didn't have the manual so I had to guess the shape of the ships and only got correct 25% of the time)
F-15 Strike Eagle.

Raid on Bungling Bay - Most frustrating game but fun.

Test Drive

Impossible Mission "STAY A WHILE ..... STAY FOREVER!!!!!"

Oh yeah. "Another visitor..."

Then Ghostbusters talked after that...

Remember What about the Zorks? Not that I would ever play that on an iphone.

Beachhead was awesome, Elite...BEST GAME EVER!!

Hi guys,
Just popping in to answer a couple of questions:
Cool, thanks!

So what's the deal with B. Lee and the new game box? Copyright issue obviously, but did the game in general lose it's rights to the "Bruce Lee" name? Just curious.
There was issues with the estate of the late Mr. Lee, and as such we could not release the game with his name on it. The game is still the same though, it's just the name and the coverart that has been changed.

Thanks for the update.

Could I ask, are you actively pursuing M.U.L.E as an in-game purchase from the developers (EA/Ozark?), or have you tried already and been told no, or is it still something you have on the backburner to chase up in the (near) future?

Or (hopefull not) is it something you have no plans to add?
To acquire a license for M.U.L.E. from EA is not totally out of the question, but it is necessary to have some impressive sales of the C64-app to be considered. In short, the more who buy the app the bigger chance that we'll land those great titles.

I hope that sums it up?

Best,

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention: We are actively pursuing the Epyx-titles so hopefully we'll see one or more of these in the near future.

Hi all, it's me again.

I’m sorry to inform you that we’ve been hit by a slight setback. After securing a license deal for Paper Boy with Elite Systems, testing it and doing the implementation to our next version – we’ve just been informed that we cannot proceed with it. It appears that Warner and Elite Systems did not agree upon whether the old version of the game should be available. Elite cannot move without Warner and the consequence is that they’ve decided to cancel Paper Boy.

This situation is about as far from optimal as possible and please let us be the first to express how sorry we are. We felt sure that everything was on the right track when we had a signed agreement in our hands, but unfortunately it didn’t work out the way we had hoped. I hope you understand why we thought we had a game for you, and how sorry we are to have to inform you that it is not the case as of now.
Rest assured that we’re working very hard on some compensation for all you Paper Boy fans out there, and hopefully I will have something to announce in the middle of next week.

Have a nice weekend,

Thanks for the info.

This is maybe one of those chicken/egg scenarios. Better games means more C64 sales...but more C64 sales will result in better games. Tricky.

At the moment, you have free and $.99c games. Maybe you could consider an "Elite" game range for those games that are going to be slightly more difficult (costly) to acquire, say, for instance, M.U.L.E (but I am sure there are others too).

You could maybe charge $1.99 for your "Elite" game range rather than $.99c, which would have the effect of helping fund your license costs for these "better/more popular" games, and also build a better game base for C64, hence enhancing sales.

I know I would pay $1.99 for M.U.L.E

Well said Kevin. More (better) games = more sales = better games
I would also pay more for "elite" games. (Summer Games, Winter Games, Impossible Mission etc.)

Other suggestions: Spy Hunter, Beach Head, The Last V8, Spy vs Spy.

Did you ever think about maybe doing a Gameboy/GBA/NES emulator too? Would that be even remotely possible?

Release on Cydia please.

I don't think you get the concept of Cydia.

Edit: Was going to explain it, but I really shouldn't have to.

Easy. Cydia allows unapproved appstore games. Lots of companies to do it and make money.

PdaNet is a good example.

There are TONS of C64 ROMS on the net too.:D

But don't forget, the C64 games aren't standalone games, they are add-ons to a normal Apple App.

I can't imagine you can have a cydia add-on to a normal Apple App.

ugh. Cydia does not preclude actual licensing. As the OP mentions, the licensing issue is with Elite Systems. This has nothing to do with the appstore. Releasing the title on Cydia or anywhere else would be illegal.

LOL Jailbreaking is technically "illegal". LMFAO!

The C64 emulator should be released on Cydia as shareware. Then I could download the ROM's and play them on the iPhone.

I already own tons of C64 games... why should I have to re-buy them over again?

It's like since I own Michael Jackson's Thriller on Vinyl, then I should buy the Cd version?

As philMBP correctly explained (thanks for that by the way), this has nothing to do with appstore - we cannot release Paper Boy due to licensing issues, which means that it would be illegal for us to release the game. No matter if we do it on appstore, Cydia or somewhere else. We want to make sure that the people who own the original licenses get paid for their work.

Hopefully I will soon be able to tell you guys about the next games we release but we want to make absolutely sure this time, before we say anything. :)

Best,

Best,

Just wondering. Did you (or do you plan to) give any thought to the "Elite" range of games idea ?

Looking forward to teh next batch of games,

Cheers,
Kevin.

I don't see it as entirely impossible but at the moment I'm afraid we have no plans to do so. I will make sure to keep you posted if that changes though, as we strive to get the best Commodore 64 games out there.

Why worry about releasing the ROMs? Just release the emulator on Cydia. Don't add any ROMs to it.

Zenses released for iPhone and iPod touch

Hi guys,

Even though we're still working on getting licenses for new C64 games, we found time to release a new game: Zenses Rainforest. You can read about it here: Thread on macrumors

It's quite different from the C64 app but I still hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do here at the office - active relaxation at its finest ;)
