Right, they don’t care. Maybe “they don’t care” because “they” determined it’s better for 99.9% of the users.
Those that say it’s been reported to Apple.... have you actually reported it to Apple via beta feedback? Or are you just moaning on a forum that Apple doesn’t read?
Totally missed the context of the answer.Or maybe the target audience who needs the calculator on a daily basis just uninstalled it a long time ago and downloaded an alternative app. I notice the third party apps don’t have this problem? Are they making it wrong?
They developed it for 99.9% users but apparently the third party apps developed for the minority?Totally missed the context of the answer.
Pretty sure for work like that dedicated devices with actual buttons get used and not something on iOS. And again, most of that doesn't apply to most typical consumers. You should look into how accountants and auditors use calculators because when we use calculators we are on ultra speed especially when finalising the financial statements. I am faster on my pocket calculator than a calculator powered by the A10 Fusion and I have been using calculators everyday for hours on end in my line of work.
Yes we use actual buttons. But the old calculator app on ios 10 worked fine. If this was Android, this calculator app would be updated through the Play Store. iOS needs an OS update to fix a basic calculator.Pretty sure for work like that dedicated devices with actual buttons get used and not something on iOS. Why are you excusing Apple’s bugs? Just stop please, it’s a bug that needs fixing, not defending. There are millions of users and use cases, even a small amont of affected users which I estimate is much larger than you think warrants the bug fixed, period.

It in the release notes for 11.1 b4 that the calculator slowness is a known issue.
As a beta tester surely your all reading the release notes?

Why are people constantly trying to misinterpret what I'm saying just because it's convenient for them to fit it into their narrative? I'm not excusing anything, I'm simply talking through of potential reasons why the issue hasn't been addressed so far. Nowhere do I say that it doesn't exist or shouldn't be fixed or that it's good or anything of the sort. And yet people keep on twisting it that way because it fits what they want what I say to mean. Why are you excusing Apple’s bugs? Just stop please, it’s a bug that needs fixing, not defending. It's whiny Macrumors where users think their opinion/experience is all that matters rather than the group of users as a whole.
Now can I reproduce the bug? Yes 1+1+1+1+1+1 sometimes yields 1+1+11+1 going semi quickly. The + button clearly does not light up as pressed sometimes.
But have I ever had it happen using the calculator real life? No. I dont pound on the calculator keys in succession in real usage and have that extra .1 seconds for it to register.
Or use a 3rd party free calculator, there are plenty. And unlike mail and calendar there are no hooks to it in the OS that REQUIRE the stock calculator app to be used for any reason (and ipads dont even come with it).
Im sure it's VERY low on the list compared to getting the iphone X portion of the OS ready and genera usage bug free; top priority right now.
This is kicking a dead horse now.
Apple has had tablets for 10 years already? The calculator app is obviously a low priority for Apple, 10 years and the haven't made an optimized tablet view.

Concept is fairly different from the company actually working on and predicting the actual thing. That said, not really what this thread is about. The iPad was created before the iPhone.

This thread is about the calculator app that some people are having issues using in iOS 11. The iPad doesn't have that calculator app, so those issues don't apply to it.This thread isn't about the calculator app?
“When they were prototyping the iPad, they ported the iOS calc over, but it was just stretched to fit the screen. ... A month before the release, Steve Jobs calls Scott Forstall into his office and says to him, “where is the new design for the calculator? This looks awful.” He said, “what new design?” This is what we are shipping with. Steve said, “no, pull it we can’t ship that.” ... It has been such low priority since then that no one cares to work on it since there is more important things to work on.”
