I thought that was it, but I didn't want to say it incase I sounded like on idiot. lol

Just a quick question, can someone please tell me where I can get nice iPod stands from? I've seen a few on eBay but there not the most attractive things and they are quite pricy considering what they are.

Lastly, just to get a discussion started, i thought people could post how long they have been collecting for, how often you treat yourself to a new addition and what do you plan to do with your collection eventually.

Most of the stands you see in this forum were sold by forum member MattyMac. That is where I got mine. They are great!

the only ipod i'm after is an Ipod nano 5th gen silver either 8gb or 16gb.a seller offer $159 for a sealed 16gb silver but i cannot get in contact with him grrrrrrr.

When i get a silver 5th gen nano then i only need for more colours which are yellow,red,orange and pink.

It's not usual that I buy doubles of my iPods. My plan is to finish the collection before buying doubles, but when I get a great deal like this, I disregard my rule. Since Im so proud of it, I decided to bost about it here.

I found an iPod classic 5th Gen Black 30GB sealed without a mark on the seal wrap as well as a new iPod/iPhone radio dock for £75. I was adamant that I be the buyer that I called the seller and offered him an extra £25 if he came to me instead of me having to go to him. So in total I paid £100 for the sealed iPod and a logic3 I-station 9.

What do you think?

iPod holders

It's not the best picture I know, but these are the different sizes and types I use for iPods and accessories.

I haven't found any yet. I've looked on eBay, but no stands really look appealing. Thanks for your picture, I quite like the number 2.

Have you checked the other links i provided?

The number 1 is the one sold by Mattymac. I didn't buy them from him. It fits the 30-pin dock connector exactly! They also comes as transparent. I should have had a size reference in the picture...the width of the number 4 is exactly as wide as an iPod generation 1.

Honestly, I'm not such a fan of those two. I found similar ones to the number 2 on the links you provided but for the price being asked, I thought I could get quite a few nicer ones. Thanks anyway, but I guess I'll have to keep looking.

I was also wondering, I don't like keeping all my iPods on display. The sealed ones I want to keep stored whilst I will display all my open ones. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can store my iPods. I'd ideally like a case as opposed to a box. I'd need lots of protection and also like to keep dust away. And preferably, I'd like the iPods to all be together. If not, it's not my biggest problem. Any ideas?

I use a plastic storage box with lid, bought at my local discount supermarket :D

They come both transparent and non-transparent. I use the non-transparent to block out the sunlight! I only store my doubles and extra accessories, because I want to look at my jewels every day :p

You can see the different sizes if you check this link...

Thanks for the help and I like the picture :).
I can get similar ones online from IKEA. But I was wondering if there was one which had compartments in so I could use it for different iPod models and keep them in as few boxes as possible.

(I'm rather fussy) lol

If not, no worries, I'll just get myself some of those, but would need to add some home-made protection first :)

I have one of the original iPods from 2001. At $399, and since I needed it to help learn and memorize music for my graduate degree in music, I couldn't afford to keep it in the box. Guess I should've at least saved the box though. I still have it, and it still works. I actually like the physical clickwheel better than the touch-one. The battery doesn't last for more than 10 minutes anymore though. I guess I could put a new battery in it, but I hate to open it up. It's basically just collecting dust now, with a few important files backed up on its hard drive. I also have a pink iPod mini 1st gen, and an iPhone 4.

That's definitely some music history right there ;)
Keep the first gen unopened as a happy memory! It's a true gem even without the box!! Nice little collection!

I think that if you want to use it, you should get it opened. Alternatively, if it's in good shape, do what Fralle said and just leave it as a piece of history, and of you like that model a lot, you can always find a working one in ok condition on eBay for a decent price.

Well here is the picture of the iPod and Dock as promised.
Enjoy. :)

My collection now stands as follows;
Sealed;
Shuffle 1st and 4th gen
Nano 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th gen
Touch 1st Gen
Classic 4th and 5th gen (x2- one 80GB and one 30GB)

Used;
Shuffle 1st and 3rd gen
Nano 3rd and 4th gen
Touch 4th gen
Classic 4th gen (x2) and 6th gen

My GFs nephew was over and being a 13 year old geeky boy, I showed him my iPod graveyard. We had a fun time seeing which ones would take a charge and boot up. I have two iPod 1s and they both still work! I might bust them out for a retro style commute one of these days. Though I'm not sure if a full charge would give them more than half an hour of music playing these days.
