Anyone who is having same issue, don't try to repair it. The swollen battery is acting as a wedge and there is no way to slide out the internals. I messed up mine employing too much raw force.

Just 2 weeks back, I purchased a broken iPod nano 4th gen. It was unable to power on, tried all methods and it still failed. Decided to dismantle it, to learn how to install a new batt( yet to purchase a solder gun, merely learning to dismantle it). It had the same issue where it looks like something is pushing the LCD screen to the glass".
The battery was badly bloated that it kind of "Jammed" sliding out the logic board.
And at this point I decided to use a piece of small flat screw and punctured the battery( gave out a smell lol)

So yea..

Thank you friends!

Little by little I'll post more photos!

iPod mini & Hello Kitty Be@rBrick just 2,000 units to be made.

I have seen different iPod Photo boxes and now I'm wondering if anybody knows the difference? There is one white box with light blue text and there is a black box with the ipod screen with images and silver text.

I found pictures on both boxes, one in this thread and the other on macworlds webpage. Anybody care to clarify this?

Actually, there were two "iPod photo" iPods. One of them was called by Apple "iPod photo", it was shipped in white box with blue printings, it contains EVERYTHING you can get for this iPod (incl. dock and AV cable), but it was REALLY pricy. If I remember properly, 60gb iPod Photo costed 699.95$
So. later they replace it with an "iPod photo" in a black box, with poorer batch of accessories. No AV cable, no dock, -100$ price (if I remember correctly). And, of course, there were different capacities, as was mentioned already.

A! I really love to impress people :)

I'm collecting limited editions and 1st generation Apple gadgets.

For example - recalled iPod touch with iPhone OS 1.1 and display defect (you can also see it on that photo), which were produced only during 36th and 37th week of 2007.
Or iPhone with really unstable iOS 1.0
iPod 5GB with iPod firmware 1.0
iPad with iOS 3.2, etc.

And all limited editions, yes :) At the moment I don't collect red iPods, but I'll really appreciate your help, guys, to find Madonna's, Beck's and NoDoubt's iPods from 2002. At that point I'd have ALL Apple's official limited edition iPods!

I was impressed because I haven't seen a Tony Hawk iPod in real life before.

And good luck finding those others. I have never seen those. I have never even seen a No Doubt iPod in a picture...I have not been able to find any record if any were produced at all. They were made after demand you see. I nobody ordered a No Doubt iPod, none were made... :(

You don't have a first generation iPod?

I wrote you an e-mail, didn't you receive it? Check your junk mail :)
I don't have sealed 1st generation iPod, but 1st generation iPod from the very first bunch, with iPod OS 1.0, is on it's way to me :)

You don't have a first generation iPod?

To be more precise:

I have 1st generation iPod nano (white), iPod mini (gold), iPod shuffle (512mb) and iPod touch (16gb), all are sealed or in sealed OVP. The only one I don't have sealed is 1st generation iPod classic, but, probably, one day…

Harry Potter Box...

Dear Collectors,

Did anybody ever seen the box of the Harry Potter iPod (4th or 5th generation)? Does it differs? Can you share a photo, if you (suddenly) have one?

Thanks!

WOW!!!
Really nice collection!
Seems sad that I'm saying goodbye to mine. Just sold a Nano today. :( :( :(
I'm going to continue to visit the forum as often as possible.
Keep up the work guys, it's great to see collectors and their hauls.

Dear AT101ET, if you have special editions - could you please contact me? I still have some missing. And even some non-special editions are also interesting for me, so please, tell me, what you have for sale :) My mail is my nickname + @me.com

I love the concept of not only collecting scarce first generation iPods but also rare iOS firmware.

That's a neat idea.

You know which one is the rarest now? iOS 1.0 and… iOS 7.0 on iPhone 5S! It's already impossible to find one.

My iPhone 2G is running 1.1.4 (unable to add any apps with this iOS). Every now and then I'll pop my iP5 SIM (with an adaptor) and use it for a few days...
(Yes. . . I am easily amused.)

Fralle - Unfortunately I'm having to dismantle the collection.
There are still some that I will keep, but I'm selling all the iPods I have that are newer than the 3rd Generations.
I'm sad to see them go, but it's something that I'm going to have to sacrifice in order for me to pursue other dreams.
Who knows. If this other venture proves to be successful, perhaps I'll try to replace them.
One thing is for sure. - I'm never going to lose my admiration for them, and I'll always be on the lookout for a catch ;)

I'm trying to use 2G with iOS 1.0 sometimes, but it is hell. To make a phone call I have dial a number, wait for the answer, turn on speaker, turn off speaker - and only then I'll hear my companion.
It couldn't receive SMS, only send them.
Sometimes it resprings.
Sometimes it do like this:

Curious iOS, yes...

You're calculator is the 'tell'!
You really are running 1.0

Very cool! Lots of hoops to jump through but at least no one can call that iOS boring...

But, don't you enjoy the twist of collecting scarce and rare iPods with the added adventure of locating them with scarce or rare iOS?

It's like being a numismatist and liking your Morgan silver dollars with pastel toning.

'Course I do, but I'll guess there's no threads about iPhones and IOS sw in this forum? :D
