I don't know if I should buy the iPhone 13 PM with 1tb for $1050 or the 14 PM with 512gb for $1500 including tax.

Get the 13 max and look at the 15 next year, not worth 500 bucks and half storage if you need it.

Apple itself is advertising with fullscreen video, and thats what was shown in the keynote. You can defend it all you want but as soon as you use it in fullscreen, the DI looks way more intrusive than the notch. It reaches further out into the screen.

I wish they would have put the island in the same area as the notch before.
But after one day of usage, i have to say already got used to it and won‘t be an issue for now.

Yes, the DI sits about 20px lower from the top of the screen, but the screens on the 14 pro/max are about the same number of pixels taller. The result is the same size safe area as before.

Videos should fit within that safe area just as they do for the notch, but apps may need to adjust for the new screen aspect ratio to fit properly and that will require a software update. It is possible to manually zoom a video to use the full width but doing so crops the top and bottom of a 16:9 video and that is what has been done on some early images I have seen. It makes it look like there is more impact than there really is..

I’ll admit I don’t watch a lot of video on my phone, but after playing around with my 14 pro for a couple hours last night just trying out features and setting stuff up, I like it. It’s a really neat concept and I like the functionality so far. I also think it more aesthetically pleasing to look at the screen with that versus the notch. I’ve mentioned before that I think it’s just having the uniform screen edges/borders, but also the uniformity of the pill itself versus the notch just being open to the top.

I know a lot of people feel differently, but after reading reviews and toying with returning the phone before I even got it because of others’ opinions, I’m really glad I waited and made my own decisions about it.

Now I just need to decide if I’m gonna pick up that pro max tomorrow, or keep this pro. ;-p
