After days of hesitation, I finally decided to go for the 16-inch model.

Before that, my notebook only featured 13,3" so when I tried the 16" for the very first time, it was indeed a bit of a shock. Before ordering it, I was afraid that it would be way too big and heavy but not at all!

The 16-inch model is heavy for sure, you'll feel it in your hands but you can still perfectly bring it with you in your backpack if necessary. It is not too big, nor too small and its weight is appropriate (after all, this wasn't a problem at all 10 years ago).

As it's been pointed out by many users, the mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display is gorgeous, arguably the best I've ever seen. Here also, there is a big gap between the MacBook Pro 2021 and the others notebooks. While the 14-inch and 16-inch are very similar, the 16-inch model is slightly more powerful, has better speakers, a bigger display (much more comfortable if you wish to watch a series on Netflix) and a better battery life. Honestly, I could hardly go back to a 13" or even a 14" display. The keyboard is excellent and the camera has been upgraded to 1080p in full HD (which should be the basis in 2022). Last but not least: the connectivity (MagSafe, SD, HDMI...) is back. No more adapters! The apps launch almost instantly (and I'm only using the "basic" model with the M1 Pro, without any upgrade).

If you're reading this thread and still hesitate whether you should order a MacBook Pro 2021 or wait for the next "generation", just don't wait - you won't regret it. I'm using Apple devices for ten years, and the MacBook Pro 2021 is by far the best notebook Apple has ever made.
You made a great choice!

If however the 15” M2/M2Pro Macbook Air features support for multiple external display and a wider range of scaled resolutions on certain monitors, I will gladly return my 16” M1 Pro for that!

It's a nice computer. How long did it take you to get it?

5 days.

At first, I planned to order it on the Apple Store but I didn't want to wait 2 months before to receive it.
So I've ordered it on Darty (but I could have chosen Amazon, Fnac or Boulanger).

Their stocks are indeed limited and you cannot customize your MacBook, but you usually receive it really fast.

Yeah, the stock crunch doesn't seem to let up.

I opted for the 16”. From a productivity standpoint, the 16” is much better as I’ve played with the 14” earlier in the year and found it too small for me. Did you find carrying the 12.9” iPad Pro together with your MBP uncomfortable and cumbersome? I have the 11” iPP but have never found the need to use it alongside my 16”.
No, they both fit comfortably in to my Icon backpack and the added weight is fine for me. The backpack will end up stowed somewhere and I'll just have one device out, so it works for me. I've also done this with an 11" iPad Pro too.

Just returned my 16" for a 14" MBP. Much better for me. I no longer feel like I have to think before going to grab this computer. Losing some space is a bit of a bummer but not too bad.

Sometimes regardless of what logic says you just have to go with your gut. This feels like the right machine for me.
I did the same and I feel like I am missing out but I just couldn't do the 16 on the couch where I spend most of my time. It hurt my wrist and typing was just uncomfortable. The screen was amazing on the 16.

It's all about cars for tracks (I'm one of them hemp wearing, tree hugging, animal loving, vege Hippy types, so can't use " horses for....)

2 years later with the 16” and with the new announcement of the M3s I really wanna swap for a 14” in the new space black.

The new M3 Max looks killer. M3 pro pretty blah.

The little M3 is almost on par with the old M2 Pros though - quite the bargain for a low power base chip.

And I'm in the opposite boat. The 14" is a fantastic single-window machine. It's annoying for Lightroom and nearly unusable with two documents in split screen. Let's not even talk about a Word document and a PowerPoint. After owning the 14" I'm jumping back to the 16".
Guess that's why they make multiple sizes 🤷‍♂️

I replied earlier in the beginnings in this thread, but here I'm saying it again after using my M1 Max for a long time:

• Best piece of hardware I've ever owned, period.
• It offers best of everything, especially with the great size of 16" display
• I've had a home office until a year ago and sold almost everything including my beloved Apple Studio Display
• We've been travelling as a family since then and to be honest, I don't miss a thing regarding my "previous peripherals". I enjoy that I only have my 16" M1 Max with me.
• I do digital product design as a profession including 3D work.
• Yes it's heavier than the 14", but it offers so much more, especially when you come from a 15", you can get a "much" bigger display (more pixels).

Apple really nailed it with this piece of hardware.

I went for the 14"

Main reason being that I very regularly pick it up and go visit where I am using it on my knee. I could have got the 16" but decided that easy carrying and fine for lap use were more important. (I have a Mac mini with 27" in my house which I use when I want a larger screen.)

This effectively replaced a Surface 3. Which was far more awkward due to a) smaller screen; b) need to take charger as poorer battery life; c) poorer stability as weight mostly in elevated part.

Currently I own a 2018 15” MBP and I use this as my daily work and home computer. My wife owns a 2018 13” MBP and this seems small to me. When I travel the 15” is just a lug to carry but everyday to and from work not a problem. Other than size, screen and weight you can spec the same machine. So I am struggling between a new 14” vs 16” M3 Max. Does my current 15” feel more like a new 14” or 16”? Any advice would greatly be appreciated it. I do plan to go to the Apple Store to look and compare with my current 15” MBP so thanks in advance.

The 15" feels more like the current 16", it's only a little smaller and lighter but in terms of how big it feels, they are similar. Same for the old 13" and current 14", although I feel like personally, the 14" feels big enough to work where the older 13" laptops do not. Just go with your gut after seeing them in real life, in my experience, thinking about it too much just makes it worse and takes away your joy from having an amazing new laptop – which either of them absolutely is! :)

I'm in exactly the same boat. The 16" is larger in every dimension than your 15", but the 14" is significantly smaller. The closest comparison that I've experienced is from my old 15" 2013 MBP, which is almost exactly the same size and came to and from with with me every day for years with no problems. Think I may be going 14" this round but will be hitting the store to decide first.

I just went to the Apple Store and played with the 14” and the 16”. I took my 15” MBP to the store and the dimensions are almost exactly the same as the 16” so other than dimensions it’s just slightly heavier. As for the 14”. It feels like my wife’s 13” but just with a larger screen. Don’t know if can deal with a smaller footprint. So I’m leaning toward the 16” with hope in the year get a studio monitor. This may change again when I go to Best Buy and look at the laptops.
